If someone wants to gather the information, that's fine for them, but from where I'm sitting, the mafia section is in no danger. I won't stop someone if they want to gather all that, I'm just telling you it's doomsaying nonsense and probably a waste of better-spent time.
Some good news in these dark times: there's a good chance that the mafia sub will soon be moved to the main forum index. This should, in theory, get us some fresh blood as we will no longer be burried under "Forum Games"
Not too busy for Borderlands 2 though Speaking of which, how is it? I have been sorely tempted to get it.
Let's just say there's no better stress-reliever after a seriously long day at work than coming home to a game like Borderlands 2. They scratch completely different itches
I know I specifically communicated with Seppel as to whether there was a potential legitimate reason for DRey to be posting like he did, and Seppel came back and confirmed that there was. If this was any other game where that wasn't a mechanic, DRey would have been dealt with as appropriate, but you cannot ask he be carded over something that Seppel setup. Heck, if that mechanic wasn't there, I would have gladly just merged all the posts and we could move on with our lives. This may be a good time to ask any future post count related mechanics be vetted by a sub moderator just to ensure that this sort of situation doesn't happen again where a player is encouraged by the game to behave in a way inconsitant with the forum rules. Flame Warriors mafia springs to mind as another example of where good intentions/ideas go bad when met with the forum rules proper.
As far as his behavior/playstlyle where there is the accusation that DRey more or less gave up and was playing to lose, I will need the time to actually read the setup and the related post section.
I'd hate to say I told you so, but I'd be lying.
I suppose it's good that the game was attempted simply so people who want to implement something similar in the future have a basis from which to improve (or realize that the idea is extremely awkward and avoid it altogether).
It's important for potential Mafia game designers to realize that "splashy and cool" does not necessarily translate to "good gameplay." Yet another reason we require the use of reviewers.
Yeah, I went into it having no idea if it would be fun or not (I even went so far as to make an explicit warning in the sign-up thread about it). It was mostly an experiment for the precise reason you mentioned.
I'm trying to improve my Mafia game, but it doesn't seem to be working too well.
Does anyone have any input that they would be willing to share?
Step 1. Play more games
Step 2. See step 1
There's not really much else to it. The only other advice I can give you is change up how you normally play. Are you normally reserved? Start posting a lot. Do you like to counter every point or post every thought? Force yourself to only post once a day. You may have just not found out what works best for you.
Then I see no reason to leave him on there.
By the way, thanks for all your hard work, Iso.

Yes, but I'm very busy so I don't play that much. Have 1 30-something level thief. I haven't had time to play any in the past couple weeks.

Could not ++ you more for the last paragraph.
There's no original ideas anymore Take it from me, interesting as a thought experiment, not as fun as a game when put into practice.

Here's a fun one that I always enjoy variations of:
'What have you done that could be considered scummy this game?'
