Apr 11, 2007Tussius posted a message on How did I do?It's been considered, but for now I like Sudden Shock. Mostly because of the Wild Pair matchup, but also to some extent because it can be pointed to the head versus control.Posted in: Tussius' MTG-Blog

Apr 10, 2007Tussius posted a message on Battlemage 3.1Vesuvan isn't really playable as my blue gets online too late and because landkill is so rampant I need to hold my island back until I plan to play Chronicler. If not for this I'd play vesuvan. He's possibly the best creature of the format.Posted in: Tussius' MTG-Blog
As for Radha; I've tried without but I just don't get that turn 2 accelleration often enough with only 4 wall of roots, and gemhide sliver simply isn't strong enough (dies to too many cards). -

Mar 19, 2007Tussius posted a message on Shaper Parasite v. Sulance!?The best part about Shaper Paracite is that blue/white easily can abuse it with bounce. It also goes 2 for 1 once in a while, or if the opponent is good he'll try to play around it. Which opens for a lot of possible bluffs.Posted in: burek's Blog

Mar 18, 2007Tussius posted a message on Battlemage 2.2Serrated is a solid answer, but I prefer Rough/Tumble for the sideboard in general as it's awesome against so many decks and after boarding I have 3 Rough/Tumble and 4 Temporal Isolation (for priests or other larger creatures). They have answers for Temporal Isolation, though. I'm not sure what I'll do. I need to think about itPosted in: Tussius' MTG-Blog
One possible option is Spirit Loop to just beat them down faster than they can beat you down. It's also very strong vs. R/W and R aggro decks. -

Feb 8, 2007Tussius posted a message on Triple Planar Chaos draftI only have one comment; don't underestimate Fa'adyiah Seer. Tap to draw a card 45% of the time. Quite strong, in my oppinion. Your second deck looked very, very strong, though, but it's hard to tell. 3xPC = weird formatPosted in: burek's Blog

Jan 29, 2007Tussius posted a message on Planar Chaos Review - WhiteCalciderm is awesome. A first pick in draft most of the time. He's harder to give haste to here, but his vanishing is not a problem, though. White has several cards that can pick him up at instant speed and the replay him. Love him (or hate to play vs. him). If he can't get four Zs, who can?Posted in: Zen And Magic

Actually, I disagree. In a defensive deck he's a decent 2-drop because so many two-drops in this format are 2/1. Then his problem is that his ability won't be used for a 3-4 turns as you're busy spending the mana on dudes and spells, until eventually his ability starts to matter, but not that much.
In conclusion I think he's fine if you have a hole in your curve at 2 CC, and he shines in a few decks. For example in my recent draft deck where I had 3 Fate Transfer.
Here's the deck I made:
1 Mountain
7 Island
9 Swamp
Artifacts:
1 Scuttlemutt
1 Tatterkite
1 Watchwing Scarecrow
1 Scrapbasket
1 Pili-Pala
1 Corrupt
1 Puppeteer Clique
1 Sickle Rippers
1 Murderous Redcap
1 Ashenmoor Cohort
1 Cultbrand Cinder
1 Scar
1 Torpor Dust
2 Consign to Dream
1 River's Grasp
1 Silkbind Faerie
1 Barrenton Cragheads
1 Somnomancer
1 Faerie Swarm
Red (splash):
1 Firespout
1 Elemental Mastery
Enjoy
4 Treetop Village
3 Terramorphic Expanse
1 Island
1 Gemstone Mine
1 Vivid Grove
1 Pendelhaven
8 Forest
4 Ancestral Vision
4 Boreal Druid
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Wolf Skull Shaman
4 Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 Imperious Perfect
4 Masked Admirers
3 Chameleon Colossus
3 Garruk
I don't know what I'll do with the deck after Morningtide, but very little in Morningtide seems to adds to the deck, and there are cards that could provide problems for the deck, so I'm unsure as to how it'd fare.
Oh, and the deck has become quite popular on Modo, but I'm unimpressed with most decklists so I'll keep mine to myself. It's too much of an edge to just give freely. My starting point for the development of the deck is there, but giving away such a success seems counter productive.
Oh, and I used to play with Ponder, but I don't anymore. The deck is better without it.
Mine is very different, though. First, it's without Morningtide, as it's not on Modo yet, and it's only green for 4 Tarmogoyf and 4 Quirion Dryad. Still, it plays very similarly to both Sonic Boom (but is faster) and the UG from TSP Block, which is where I started. I just fused those two decks, and after playing and testing for quite some time I ended up with a winning build.
I've seen a lot of copys lately, not surprisingly, and I've "sold" my decklist online for 5 boosters (wee). I believe it'll be just as good with a Morningtide update, but the meta might change (for better or worse).
The current metagame online for this deck is perfect. Today I lost a single game in the PE (including the final, where I won 2-0 as my opponent didn't want to split), and I've only lost one match in three consecutive PEs.
The best series of articles ever to teach magic players are the Magic Academy by Jeff Cunningham. Go to http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/columnarchive and search for them. Read them all. He starts from the bottom and teaches people lots. Even Kenji Tsumura has said he learned something from these articles.
I suppose the results from GP Florence proves you wrong to some extent. The end of this block season has been marked with a top 8 in a GP with this deck
4 Plains
4 Horizon Canopy
4 Terramorphic Expanse
4 Call of the Herd
4 Mystic Enforcer
4 Blade of the Sixth Pride
4 Chromatic Star
4 Edge of Autumn
2 Hedge Troll
4 Riftsweeper
1 Saffi Eriksdotter
4 Search for Tomorrow
3 Stonewood Invocation
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Whirling Dervish
4 Aven Riftwatcher
3 Seal of Primordium
1 Stonewood Invocation
4 Temporal Isolation
I've had great results with a purely GW variant where I just focused on a single sentence:
"The deck wins on the back of way undercosted beats"
