So Bin Laden dies in a firefight. But what happens now? Surely there will be some form of retaliatory attack somehow/somewhere.

But I agree with everyone saying that nothing will change, if anything this is going to piss off a whole bunch of radical groups and give them all a justification for another attack, potentially on a much larger scale.

I'd hardly be celebrating his death :/

First off, I like the landbase. It's never color-screwed me before and it has Deprive synergy. It's been stellar so far.

The creature package is geared toward winning post a Mass Polymorph. Stormtide Leviathan is the only card that I regard as most cut-able as far as creatures go, buuuut he can be hardcast pretty early in lieu of a Mass Poly/in it's stead (if you dont have one/need to stall) and he's been amazing at coming down on t5-6 randomly, but other than that I can see the deck functioning well without him. Iona is pretty much a GG when you hit their removal with her named color(dur), and she blocks pretty much anything in combat (huge KoTR's aside) and is a 2-3 turn clock for the deck when she hits play alone. She may not race a pair of huge KoTR's but the deck has other answers for those. (like not letting them resolve) Lastly we come to Emrakul, I dont think he needs much explanation. He flies over Stormtide's moat effect, annihilates for 6 beautiful permanents, and deals 15 points all while being immune to colored spells. He's the heart and soul of the Polymorph archetype, and succesfully attacking with him is often GG.

The planeswalkers in the deck Garruk/Jace all do their roles very well. I like the full set of Garruk's since when you draw multiples he becomes quite expendable (not that he isn't in the first place) and serves to pump out 3/3 beast tokens and untap your lands, as well as often soaking up some points of damage. Jace is there to draw cards/bounce their threats/soak up damage. Post an Iona soft lock, they may have a potential kill on the board if your attack next turn leaves them alive, and Jace is another spell that will bounce their creature. Jace has been awesome at soaking up damage, however, and most players fail to let him live more than a turn, but if he sticks around he puts Poly targets back in your library all while drawing you a bunch of things, and bouncing their stuff. Whether or not more Jace's belong here is up for debate, but 2 has been great so far. I can definitely see anywhere between 2 and 4 though.

Lastly the rest of the deck is quite self explanitory. Mana Leak has been an all-star at countering a smattering of things people are used to tapping out for. Deprive is a hard counter that recycles a Halimar/Khalni Garden trigger, but sets you back a turn on land drops. I still like it in spite of that fact because if it's worth countering in the first place, it's probably going to hinder your winning the game. Spreading Seas, which I'm not entirely sure will make my final build of the deck, takes out manlands and can color-screw Jund/Naya quite well sometimes but it's mainly for answering pesky manlands that may otherwise kill you a turn faster. Oh and it also replaces itself. The rest of the cards all work well with one another, and 3 Mass Polymorph is the best number I believe. I tried 2 and I never could find them when I wanted them, 4 is far too many with all the draw spells and 1 is obviously not enough.

My sideboard is still being changed a whole bunch, but the final one will probably include Narcolepsy. The thing I hate most about this deck is it's lack of creature removal. Things like Doom Blade/Oblivion Ring/Path to Exile/Lightning Bolt all kill things very very well, and this deck has access to 0 of those spells. I'm too lazy to type more stuff out, but yeah.

Yeah, Mass Polymorph is way too clunky for me to use. I can see having a couple in the board against spot removal, but eh, I hate the inconsistency of building for it.

Like, Mass Poly isn't any more inconsistent then regular ol' Polymorph. It just costs 2 more, which isn't a consistency issue at all.

I think that Mass Polymorph prolly won't be accepted by the community as a viable deck at all until after rotation. But I've been playing a Mass Poly build, and it's so terribly easy to wait and lock them out of them game by Poly'ing for 3 and getting Emrakul/Iona/Stormtide.

The correct bomb package, however, is hard to figure out. I've had games where I've only been able to muster a Poly for 1, and found a Stormtide Leviathan (who quite easily dies to Doom Blade/DoJ/O-Ring/etc) and subsequently lost because of that. So Stormtide is also the weakest link, but you can hardcast him, which is extremely useful. Other than that I've had no problem with the Iona/Emrakul/Stormtide package, and it's often quite effective. Usually an Iona on the board means your opponent can't A. Win or B. Deal with a 7/7 flier in a timely fashion due to her color restriciton.

They will never go below $30 in my opinion. I don't see them going over $40 again. I think $35 will be the median.

A bit late on that one, as they already have.

You can buy them from vendors for under $30

For now, I'm sticking with Emrakul, Iona, Ulamog, and Madrush. I've only lost one game after Mass Polymorphing, and that's because I was forced to play it with only one token out, and I got Madrush. You can take that same situation with the Sphynx package, and you have no chance of pulling out a win with one token.

I think the Iona/Emrakul/Stormtide Leviathan combo works the best. Madrush seems like a win-more card, and when I tested it he was completely useless. Sure he would win the off game when he came into play, but I rarely ever had 4 tokens at my disposal to Mass Polymorph away. So I went with this current configuration because: Iona stops them from sweeping your board, Stormtide moat's them, as well as being an unblockable 8/8. Lastly Emrakul flies, has annihilator 6, and deals 15 damage along with being hard to remove due to Iona constraint. A 4th creature isnt needed, and if you only manage to Mass Polymorph for 2 you can still get a good combo to win the next turn.

Iona/Emrakul locks them out of spells/annihilates for 6. 22 damage total.
Iona/Stormtide locks them out of spells/moat's. 15 damage total.
    Emrakul/Stormtide moat's them/annihilates for 6. 23 damage total.

I'd say any Mass Polymorph not involving Iona is fairly weak, since they can still deal with your creatures. Iona just stops that in it's tracks completely. Of course you can always recycle Emrakul if you reeeallly need to.

  • posted a message on Would you rather..... spend 400 bucks on a gaming system (+games) or Magic?
    Quote from Jon_S
Well I just purchased a playset of foil Jace TMS to go with my foil Gideons so I would say cards. I have spent more than that on them. To me its worth it if you play the game and take it fairly seriously. If you shop around could build just about any deck for 500 or come pretty close.

But dont regular Jace, The Mind Sculptors do exactly the same thing as foils ones? By your standard pros should play with only foiled out decks, because they take the game pretty seriously.

I would spend it on MTG, invest in something that has the potential to go up in value. Maybe a piece of power or some old dual lands (Bayou/etc) or maybe some Force of Wills? Being able to have the building blocks for an eternal format deck + an investment would be nice.

  • posted a message on Will the arrival of Primeval Titan in M11 make Eldrazi's viable as a deck now?
The ability to fetch any land makes the titan shine. The way I see it is he primarily fetches any number of Eldrazi Temples/Eye of Ugin and is a 6/6 body that needs to be dealt with. His CITP ability makes him powerful and casting him just for it is often quite beneficial regardless of how long the titan lives. Any attacking done is just a bonus, as a free Explosive Vegetation type effect is great, plus they have 6 points of damage coming at them. I personally like the card, it's been strong in the U/G Eldrazi ramp deck I've been testing, and simply fetching two Temples or an Eye of Ugin is enough to put you in an extremely favorable position versus your opponent, who now has to deal with Primeval Titan and any subsequent Eldrazi casted off the back of his ability. Sure, I'm speaking totally in regards to him being played in an Eldrazi driven deck, but that's the only place I've tried him and he's been really strong so far.

The card will probably see play at Nats and if he's a hit expect to see a lot of him in the future, but if not I think people will still attempt to put him to good use, so expect to see a lot of him. Personally I like the card a lot flavor-wise so I'm a bit biased, but we'll see where the Titan has a place in the coming months, just keep testing him out.

  • posted a message on 5 reasons not to buy the iPhone 4
    Quote from TheRogue
The problem with the Iphone4 is it continues apples quest to help people with loads of money feel really special when they get sucked into our society's "cell phone judging ritual".

On the serious note every other cellphone maker has made strides to make there phones do just about everything the Iphone can do and sometimes plus some. What holds them back is the amount of available apps that 3rd party developers have made. 3rd party developers are just getting sucked head to toe into the Iphone club instead of realizing they either left out or (haven't realized they could make a lot of money) by working with the Non Iphoners.

Both camps are easy to use and the original Iphones were definitely ahead of the easy to use but now that the playing fields level we need to leave this Apple scam alone and save our money.
But basically if you want to join "Apples show off club" burn your extra money!

    That's my 2-3 reason contribution.

Actually the iPhone is quite reasonably priced for what you get out of it, and the monthly rates are pretty much standard for any other smartphone. Why do you think they sell so many? (Hint: it's an incredibly easy to use device, that does certain things extremely well.) Plus you can't really show off an iPhone, I bought the iPhone 4 on pre-release day and was fortunate enough to have it shipped to my house on the 23rd of June (circumventing long lines) and I went into a mall later that night with my new gadget, and not a single person batted an eye when I produced the phone from my pocket to answer a phone call. I mean it's a far cry from an applicable story, but still.

I saw this list on the Yahoo homepage and laughed, the reasons cited are pretty awful. If this guy did any research whatsoever and handled the device he'd realize that he could have pointed out some very valid reasons, but instead he is an idiot.

    5. The camera is actually very good, its a huge improvement over the past generation iPhone cameras and it shoots very good quality picture/video. Megapixels arent everything, and simply going "hurr the more megapixels the better the photo/video hurr hurr" is incorrect.

    4. What the ☺☺☺☺ is Swype? Seriously? I guess you could criticize any of the touchscreen phones out there for not having Swype, since it makes them apparently terribly easy to use. I've had a Blackberry and an iPhone and both are terribly easy to type on, the physical keyboard is just as easy to use as the virtual one, except on the iPhone i do mess up slightly more often because of lack of tactile feedback, so sure the virtual keyboard has flaws but ☺☺☺☺ing adding Swype doesnt do a thing.

    3. I havent had the chance to use video calling, but it certainly isnt a blemish for the iPhone 4. How many American mobile phones today offer such an easy to use video calling feature? And with the rate 4's are selling, there must be someway to use the application, granted it is restrictive, it's certainly not a blemish.

    2. Shortages... yeah a real blemish for the product itself, woo go author. The demand for the product just proves it's of some usefulness to consumers.

    1. No Verizon... another blemish for the actual product? granted ATT is a pretty godawful carrier, I havent had any trouble living in CT/going to school in upstate NY with them so I personally cant complain, but I believe every horror story and fully wish to see the iPhone in the hands of a carrier who can accomodate such a huge demand.

This guy missed the actual flaws, such as your signal taking a hit when holding it in the bottom left hand corner, mine does, and I've attempted to send texts in landscape mode right after typing to have them fail due to insufficient service. Only when I remove my hand and give it a couple second do they succesfully send. Another flaw would be the ease of breakage, since it has glass on both sides dropping this would be catastrophic sans a case... which leads me to my other point, Apple's official case is a $29 piece of plastic that may very well protect the phone but... it's $29 which I can spend on a third party case for a much more attractive protection measure, or buy the same thing from a third party manufacturer for a definite discount.

I was terribly bored and somewhat motivated to somehow write a rebuttal to that massive failure of an article*, and here was my channel to do so.

I mean this sounds like something an internet poster would do, he's essentially trolling you in real life. As soon as I read that first post the "u mad" meme came to mind, he's doing it to get a reaction out of you and you're satisfying his need. Actually if I were you I'd make a big spectacle out of it somehow, asking him a bunch of silly questions right back, and making similarly idiotic accusations until he realizes its pointless or something. The last thing you need is violence here, I was sorta picked on as a kid and the last thing I wanted to was to ☺☺☺☺ing pound the last breath out of the person picking on me, I would much rather pick on them back. Then if he starts to actually physically harm/touch you, you win, since he's a brainless dolt who resorts to violence. Meh, my point of view is kinda one sided, but it relies on people being around to actively witness it.

You tell me, but not formatting things properly is sort of an eyesore, it also helps if you don't use abbreviations. I don't, and I'm just a normal guy, this is all up to you, but I'm pretty sure one part of being successful image wise is to at least come off as grammatically savvy.

In addition to all the wonderful points Xanth brought up, you might want to lean to use proper grammar, and convey yourself as a well spoken individual.

I know for a fact I would never buy something from an online retailer who's owner can't simply capitalize the first letter of every sentence.

It would be nice to have an "eternal afterlife," but sadly that's just impossible. Everything about you is housed in your body currently, and when that ceases to live, so do you.

But it won't be that bad, since when you're dead, you wont know you're dead because you cease to exist. At least that's my take on it.
