It's RW right? I won two drafts in a row with RW with no prior knowledge of the set after not having played for four years. They certainly seem like the deepest colors, both with good creatures and removal throughout the curve.

So you should totally put dismember in this deck. Green easily has life gain to over come the life loss of it and it lets us answer creatures fairly easily. Just an idea.

Dismember is indeed a must have for the deck somewhere. After playing against 4 Mirran Crusaders this became very obvious. Frown

I would not suggest genesis wave. You need to ramp very high to hit most of the stuff you're looking for, and even still, it is not guaranteed you'll get what you need.

Lead the stampede works pretty much the same as Genesis wave anyway. You're paying 3 for the card, and hoping you hit what you need. Granted it doesn't put it into play, but with Genesis wave, if you pay 9 cmc, and miss, you're tapped down pretty far.

With lead the stampede, you got the 3 cmc, and if it hits, you can pay the additional 6, or whatever it is you need. If you miss, you still have mana open.

I still haven't tested the wave yet. I don't know how I feel about those 2. I have had a couple complete whiffs with stampede, which makes me a sad panda. Stampede is better with fauna shaman but fauna shaman might not be in the final list. Need more testing. I like the potential amazability of genesis wave though. Just haven't had a lot of time this week to test, which will answer some of these questions.

I really like the idea for this deck. Further, I think it gains a bunch from M12. both, which bodes well for the future.

    Questions:
How has Fauna Shaman been performing for you? Seems like he actually isn't that good in a slower deck without vengevines.
Similarly, how has mold shambler been treating you as a 6 mana acidic slime?
Finally, I really don't like all your fetches: without lotus cobra all they are doing is hurting you. The math works out to be something like 15 life for 1 extra card with the "land thinning" idea. Not a good plan.

    Comments
What about Garruk. He seems very well poised in any sort of controlling green deck, doing exactly what you want to be doing.
Also, maybe several copies of some sword? Feast and Famine seems like it could fit your controlling theme and makes elves not dead late game.

Those changes do take your good deck in a very, different, less creature based idea.

I will post a list idea at some point... I feel like M12 will really help this idea. When can I post lists including such cards?

Fauna shaman has been pretty good actually. Being able to turn my elves and walls into wurmcoils and hellkites (OR TERRASTODON!) later in the game is pretty awesome and has saved me a couple times. Fauna Shaman DOES NOT NEED vengevine to be great. Seems like there are some people who think some cards are unplayable without other awesome cards. (Thrun+sword guy earlier in thread, shaman+vengevine) What's up with this? Both of those creatures are amazing by themselves. (fauna not exactly "by herself" but you know what I mean)

Mold Shambler hits PW's. Something slime sits in his room late at night and wishes on shooting stars he could do. Shambler > Slime all day everyday. (except when there's a scary titan or huge creature that needs to be touched with death to be dealt with :D)

Pretty sure the fetchland math is off, but either way I'm sticking with them. You might play 3/game. The [potential] 3 life is not going to break you. It does help over the course of multiple matches though.

Yes the Garruk and Swords are potential candidates for slots, but as you said, it will take away from the creature-based route the deck is going in atm. I'm not saying it is bad, and may be the way I ultimately end up going, but the only reason they aren't in there now is because of lead the stampede/creature theme i have atm basically.

I, too can't wait for M12! (NEW GARRUK! shhhh)

I will hopefully be testing a lot more this week to give some more/better feedback/changes. Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys!

Why Thrun? He seems really bad with no equipment support.

Y is thrun bad exactly? General weird statements about good creatures don't help. If u had some reasoning I'd consider.

This is basically a birthing pod deck without the birthing pod...the idea is solid, but other than Green Sun you have no way to tutor for a specific bullet that you need.

    Fauna shaman tutors.

For your sideboard, Gaea's revenge is also a card to consider.

That spot is a toss up between terra stomper and revenge. Any thoughts on which is better md?

Drop Asceticism in, too. Don't let "them" target your doodads, and you have some advantage.

Idk about this but I am willing to try. What would this be good against?

    - stampede
    + cultivate

consider genesis wave instead of zenith.

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger over the elephant

the baloth is side board material

24 land seems low, add 1-2 more

Any reasoning behind this? I can see the wave over zenith and therefore taking out stampede but Id like to hear a little reasoning. Thanks

^I have only played a handful of games against a couple other homebrew decks. I won but no real competition. Hoping to do a little testing tonight.

Phyrexian Metamorph is going to get some number of slots I think.

^very true! Another obvious option I hadn't considered (which is weird because I've been trying to fit him into everything because he's just so saucy). This is why I love Sally! Even though it does make me feel kinda dumb for not considering things that should be obvious to at least test. I was trying to stick with mostly creatures to optimize my Stampedes but that isn't a hard stance.

    So from the original list,
    -2 Zenith
    +2 Karn

Any thoughts on Terra Stomper vs Gaea's Revenge?

Masticore is a good idea I hadn't thought of for some reason. Colorless damage (the 1 creature the deck can't answer very well is Mirran Crusader obviously), fits with the creature theme. I'll try 1 MD and 1 SB.

    Sideboard looking like this atm,

^ya because drawing 4 cards or dealing 6 damage (happens to be just enough to kill a titan) while proliferating twice for 3 mana or bringing back a certain chandra friendly phoenix is bad for a red control deck looking for inevitability playing koth, chalice, tumble magnet... wait...

So me and another regular at FNM were kinda joking about a mono green control deck being viable with all the versatile answers available. So I decided to try my luck. Here's my first draft:

What makes green interesting to me right now are Mold Shambler, Acidic Slime and Beast Within. Those cards answer everything efficiently except creatures. But creatures can be answered with more efficient creatures, which just happens to be greens forte.
With Zenith and Shaman the deck can have access to a pretty nice toolbox but this sacrifices a little potential gas for lead the stampede (I haven't hit less than 2 creatures in the few games I've played.). The zeniths could be removed for another Thrun, Wurmcoil, Mold Shambler and Stampede to give it a little more consistency.
I haven't figured out a SB yet. Thoughts?

Comments, questions and criticisms are what I'm looking for as always. Thanks in advance.

What are your guys' thoughts on maybe 2 Karn in the deck? He's obviously powerful and the mana cost isn't really an issue.

What are your guys' thoughts on manlands in the jund version? Helps rely less on Pod, uncounterable creatures that survive Magma Phoenix sweep. On the other hand, no turn 1 BoP which means no turn 2 3-drop, obviously. I think the pros outweigh the cons though.

Superion seems meh. I guess 1 to Pod into with a bird late is ok, but he still has no direct effect on the board state.

Joraga seems just bad, Llanowar elves would probably be even better. I was thinking about a list with something like 7 mana dorks and 4 pod/3 mimic vat to try and guarantee a problematic turn 2 3-drop. This would obviously involve some # of Fauna Shaman to pitch the dorks late game. Seems good in theory. Thoughts?

    Just thought I'd share.

I play Grand Architect, and I got rocked today by Kred, but it was unlike any I have seen in the past. Not sure if it's been discussed but he ran more burn than I had ever seen in a Kred deck.

I saw Arc Trails, Forked bolts, and galvanic blasts, and he was also running a few valakut. Which may seem silly, but if you run out of steam, at least it can sometimes spell a win for you.

I was never able to stabilize as he kept removing all my creatures and swinging in with his. He did say he didn't run Moxes, nor did he run Chimeric mass.

Just thought I'd share, maybe help with some new ideas around here Smile

If you have the ability to metalcraft galvanic blast, it's kinda weird not to run opal. And if you can't metalcraft blast, why not just play lightning bolt? I do like blast though.
Don't know how i feel about valakut. Seems like it could be decent but you'd have to give up your warzones, which I'm really liking.
