Man, I am finding Rakdos's flavor so creepy. Parading dead bodies around in front of former friends and allies. Literally forcing crowds to watch their debauched shows. A lot of their cards are real flavor homeruns.
I've been wondering for a while now when we were gonna see the on combat damage trigger that blows up enchantments and artifacts on a creature. The last one I remember being in standard was Polis Crusher.
Is it just me or does the guy look like he is 'laughing out loud' at the prospect of getting a drill in his head?
I noticed that. I think the blindfold is supposed to imply that he doesn't know what's about to happen. So he's being carried and is experiencing the thrill of being part of the spectacle without knowing exactly how much a part of the spectacle he is really about to become. Honestly, the flavor of this card is a home run. Paints a pretty damn dark picture of the violent hedonism of the Rakdos.
Yeah let's give green and blue an exile creature effect, what can possible go wrong?
I don't think Reality Shift ever saw play. This won't be much different. If it does then it will be for the first half.
This will almost certainly see some amount of play. First, as you mention, the first half is playable. The second half however, unlike Reality Shift, provides your opponent with a known quantity. It's not a random creature, possible a surprise bomb or a land that you just gave value to. It's a vanilla 3/3 in place of what might have been some large, indestructible dude that was keeping your attacks from being valuable. I definitely think UG Fish in Standard is going to want this and possible becomes more viable because of this.
Card is obviously good and definitely going to see play in standard. As many have already said, that art is incredible. Hearkens back to art from some older sets. Makes me think of art on cards like Delirium from Mirage.
Any thoughts on the actual reprints for this set? I mean, at that price, I feel like each of the masterpiece cards should also be available in regular format in the set. If so, that would definitely make the box worthwhile. However, we'd better not be paying an extra hundred dollars for a CHANCE of getting one of the better box toppers.
Edit: Tibalt, Rampaging Ferocidigator
Another hint that we'll be in Theros soon?
Came here to say this. That's potentially a lot of mana.
Also, super vulnerable to removal though.

Because it doesn't do anything on entry and can be removed after you exile the first or discard the first creature to it.
