These videos were great. Thanks for making them. It helps to see the decisions of an experienced pilot of the deck.
Hopefully we'll see another run with your evolved list and sideboard options. How is the Sword of Light and Shadow working out? Have you settled on any graveyard hate?
Demannic: Any chance you can play a Modern Daily and record all four rounds and post to YouTube? I really enjoyed the last videos you made and would love to see the new deck additions in action against the current metagame. I'm sure the others here would also like to see them.
Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise on this deck! I'm really looking forward to checking out the rewritten primer. I'd like to see play tips and common lines of play. Such as Mulligans, spell sequencing, and metagame strategies such as your earlier tip where you say to never crack a Martyr when a Burn deck has Skullcrack mana up. Good information!
Where will I be able to find this primer? Will it be a new thread?
I'm new to Magic and this thread has been very helpful. I started out playing Limited drafts, and thought it might be fun to put some kind of deck together for quick matches in the Constructed Free Play queues. I chose to go with Modern because I wanted to build a deck that included Ranger of Eos (a cool card IMO). I sold off a bunch of random cards on MTGO and this is what I have so far:
I've been practicing with it and have a bunch of questions.
What are some good guidelines for taking a mulligan with this archetype?
What are the standard lines I should be looking to take? Mostly, I've been just trying to keep my hand full and make the game go long. Many times I pass the turn without playing a creature. My main goal simply being to get above 30 life and play some Serra Ascendents. I'm sure there is more to consider and I'd like to add some nuance to my play. Any general tips?
I feel like my sideboard is a mess. I've been shuffling it around based on posts I've read. I have no idea what I'm doing, yet. Any suggestions to clean that up?
I really like the Orzhov version that Demannic runs. What are the main reasons to add Black? Do you think doing so improves the deck greatly? By a lot? I'd like to try it out but don't have enough tickets for the mana base at the moment. Considering moving in on it, though.
Any chance someone has made some MTGO videos running Martyr Proc? I find videos to be VERY helpful in learning.
