I was listening to "The Thing That Should Not Be" by Metallica, and I realized it was basically the theme song to Shadows Over Innistrad.
So I looked into the meaning of the lyrics and found its all references to H.P. Lovecraft and Cthulu mythos. And then I saw references to one of Lovecraft's stories: "The Shadow over Innsmouth"
I read a synopsis of the story and it feels just like Innistrad: the people living there are changing into something else, deep-sea ancient sleeping gods, and an outsider searching for answers to the mystery.
What if the Sea God the cultists worship is different from Emrakul that Nahiri is obviously bringing to Innistrad? What if the Sea God is Innistrad's natural defense against supermassive other-world threats? Do we have a big showdown coming up?
How do we know Emrakul isn't the Eldritch Moon itself? The origin and composition of the Innistrad moon has been the subject of mystery before right? If you connect her two halves together and look at her from above, she would look like a big white round thing in the sky. Kinda like a moon.
What if the moon is a portal into the blind eternities? Wasn't the Helvault a piece of the moon? Somehow it mystically kept Avacyn, Griselbrand and a bunch of other demons inside it. Imagine what the whole dang moon could hold.
I'm just saying: Imagine the visual power and implications of the moon splitting in half and Emrakul comes raging out of it. Plus you have all sorts of implications: no more moon, moon-shards falling down, pieces of this powerful object are now everywhere for anyone to use/abuse, what happens to werewolves when there is no moon?, etc, etc.
I think I'm starting to go mad too a little... heh heh
Didn't they name them Eldrazi in reference to the word 'eldritch'? If that's the case, isn't the name of the set just giving it away?
As stated in the OP:
-They need to complete the fetch land cycle for modern
-Fetch lands are overpriced
-Reprinting friendly fetches will bring down the price of enemy fetches for modern without having to immediately reprint enemy fetches
My two cents:
-They need something to sell the set and make it exciting after M14 was kinda 'bleh'. Besides, after having NO "dual" lands in M14, what else would be the best way to bring em back other than some of the best ever?
-There will be just enough time (between M15 printing and the 2014 fall 'Huey Dewey Louie' block) before Return to Ravnica block shock lands rotate to have an awesome Standard environment that has shock lands, fetch lands, AND scry lands. It will be awesome, insane, powerful, but brief since it will only be about 3 months.
Is Nivmagus Elemental worth considering? Get your heroic triggers, then exile the spell for 2 counters. Especially great with Cipher/double strike stuff.
I've been considering him in the Heroic Izzet deck I'm planning. Another good thing about Nivmagus Elemental is that, in a pinch, you could target your own Heroic creature with a removal spell, get the trigger, then exile the spell with Nivmagus for 2 +1 counters. He adds flexibility, is a 1 drop 1/2 with upside, and has the perfect manacost.
S(t)eams real. Not overpowered, captures some enthusiasm of previous iterations but mixes it up appropriately given the infusion of red. Matches flavor without trying too hard (which for this set, so far, is saying something). It should exist.
I like it and want it for EDH, type 4, and maybe, who knows, some sort of Grixis control build with a hint of reanimator in Standard.
Why do the Gates still have letters in the flavor text that are not in line? If you look at the RTR Gates, each have a couple of letters that are a little higher than the others. I've always thought it was a weird error. But it looks like the Gatecrash Gates have them too. For example, look at the "i" in "mastermind" on the Dimir Guildgate, or the "t" in "deception".

More Lovecraft and Cthulu points to Emrakul imo.

I hope its a good set. I hope its wacky. I hope the pacific is as blue as has been in my dreams.
I hope.

I think it would occur twice but just want to check. Thanks in advance.

Pay 3 life, exile a creature spell you control: Put a 5/5 black demon token with flying onto the battlefield.
I think its overpowered after looking at it. It probably needs a mana requirement in the activation cost to help smooth it out.
Is this some sort of clue or puzzle?
