I have been unsuccessful in finding an answer to this question so I decided to make a topic for it.
Recently my friend and I have had an argument over "Blade of the Bloodchief" and how its counters work. The card states that when a creature goes to the graveyard than i get to place a +1/+1 counter on the creature BotBC is equipped to unless that creature is a vampire. Than i get to place two counters on said creature. Our argument is over the creature type. He claims that a vampire shaman such as "Vampire Nighthawk" would only get one counter because it's a vampire SHAMAN. Where as a vampire such as "Chancellor of the Dross" would then get two counters because he is just a VAMPIRE.
This argument has spawned further discussion over creature type between us. From "Undead Warchief" and its abilities regarding zombies. To disagreements about soldiers vs cat soldiers. Could someone give me a ruling on this? Does a vampire shaman still get two counters? Do zombie giants still get a bonus from Undead Warchief?
