okay boys and girls, need your help. Doing a modern RPTQ in december (which i qualified for playing RG tron), after trying out different decks that can deal with the aggro meta im expecting. I hate it. Cant play them, not enjoying them, I lose focus and start making mistakes. Ive decided to bring RG tron. and im going to be testing out a list running a couple platinum angels (maybe 3) i feel for the most part alot of these aggro decks dont have a maindeck way to deal with this card and it would equal free wins. Then once the sideboard games come around i have more tailored answers/threats.
do you think im crazy? could be a reasonable plan? feed back people!lets get me there!
hey guys, long time tron player here. Finally broke my top 4 curse and actually won a pptq. just curious if you guys think i should expect a meta game heavier in aggro when i get to the rptq in december?
So I have finally achieved an invite to a modern RTPQ by winning a PPTQ. While the PPTQ did have a rather diverse metagame, im curious as to if other people who have gone to modern RTPQ's before have found that they attract a more restricted metagame? long story short, should i expect maybe more aggresive or combo decks?
ok guys, quick question thats related. if there was no ban list, is there anyway to make tron broken? theres a no ban list casual tournament coming up and I'm just curious.
so how do you guys feel about flash bag marauder/excecutioner in main deck? most lists I've seen have 2-3 sideboard. and then i recently saw reid dukes like from the gp he won which has them main board. just curious on what you guys think

I feel like its simply too cute. while it makes burn and infect games in our favour, with jund and grixis control being more popular and playing multiple k-commands ontop of the terminates i feel like its taking more away then it is adding to the deck.
ok guys, so ive been playing tron for a while now and one thing that has been bothering me is that now everyone throws in 2 ugins. to me ugin simply seems like a win more card in the matchups we are already good in. it does effect one matchup directly (boggles) i dont think they can win with it on the field at all. If people could just put down their thoughts/experiences about the card i wouldnt mind. because i think its redundant.
for the kitchen finks question im pressure sure he would get it back since it specifies "owners control" in the persist effect. for number 2, you would die. since as when wurm enters the battlefield the trigger is on the stack, state based effects are checked before it resolves, you are at 0 life.
hey guys, went to a decent sized tournament yesterday 67 people, so 7 rounds, ended up 5-2, making 12th. only one 5-2 got in to top eight and my breakers weren't the best.
round 1, faced infect:
game one: i kept the opening 7 while he mulled to 5, 2 tron pieces, grove pyroclasm an some mana eggs, he was on the play, he goes glistner elf into heirarch on his next turn, i simply go turn 2 pyroclasm and he cant get back. for game 2, i bring in a firespout, chalice and another ghost quarter. he mulls to 6 and keeps a 1 land hand. opening hand is 2 pyroclams and a ghost quarter +2 tron pieces and some eggs, easy win from here.
record 1-0
round 2: ended up facing a friend of mine playing living end, we both get deck checked. he gets a game lost for a deck error and i get a warning due to 2 cards being upside down. he wrecked me game 2 and game 3 he just sadly drew all his living end in the first 3 turns so i just tron, play wurmcoil before he can get the suspend off.
record 2-0
round 3 was against soul sisters. just crushed. simple
record 3-0
round 4 was against grixis. i felt quite comfortable going into it. he however had a god draw while i flooded on lands. his inquistions and thought seizes were really well timed while his tasigur simply put a close on me.
game 2 was very similar. a thought seize to keep me off of the turn 3 tron follow by stone rain, stone rain, flashback stone rain. never saw my crucible.
record 3-1
round 5 was against elves. once again felt comfortable. game one i feel i misplayed an oblivion stone crack. and then i proceeded to draw running lands while he had top decked 2 companies in a row. game 2 he simply over ran me while i drew karn after karn.
record 3-2
going into round 6 i was pretty shaken, i thought grixis and elves were more in my favour then the combo decks i had skimmed by earlier. matched up against my opponent and i recognize him as a guy who travels to tournaments out of province and i know he likes to play broken combos. So naturally he wins the die roll and proceeds to play turn 1 amulet and my heart sinks. he just rolls me game 1. game 2 i bring in my 3rd ghost quarter, crucible of worlds, chalice of the void, and natures claims. turn one i put down tron piece and a mana rock. he of course goes turn one amulet again. luckily i had both natures claim and ghost quarter in my hand. play the ghost and just blow up the amulet with the claim. he plays another amulet and tries to go off. i destroy the bounce land before he gets the mana. luckily i top deck another of my claims to destroy it. it slows him down. enough for me to find my crucible and i can jsut start recurring my ghost quarter. destroying all his lands over the next few turns. i play it safe and bring my ghost quart back before i start laying down my tron lands. Game 3 was extremely similar. i play turn one ghost quarter and chalice on 0. he has a pretty slow start with gesmtone into bounce gemstone to bait the ghost quarter. , of course i destroy it sets him back evcen more. my next 2 draws and natures claim and crucible so its essentially a repeat of game 2.
record 4-2
going into last round i was simply happy i beat amulet. day is made. i face up versus my opponent and he opens with turn 1 bird and im pretty happy about this. i simply go turn 3 wurmcoil into sundering titan, there was nothing much he could do. I put him on melira or angel of thune combo seeing really only junk colours and some voices. game 2 he opens similar. turn one birds but his land is a stomping ground, turns out hes playing kiki chord. he top decks running fulminator mages to slow me down enough to get the game 2 win. going onto game 3. i naturally hjave tron +wurmcoil in my hand plus mana rock and pyroclasm. turn 2 kill his noble heirach turn 3 wurmcoil into sundering titan. not much he could do about it.
overall pretty happy about the event. glad i switched from the RGb tron i was running. the ghost quarters main make all the difference and gives me some nice sideboard openings
