So the TO for Ontario, gave out M13 for prizes instead of Rav. Had i know that i wouldn't have even shown up. There was no voucher option to get rav at a future date either once the supply is back up. This TO has a long history of being terrible, and i was disappointed as this seemed like blatant pocket lining and moving old product he couldn't sell.
Have fun playing this guy against a gravecrawler.
Any zombies build is going to love that you cast this guy. If you have any Scavenge in your deck this guy can actually be a bonus as a free sacrifice outlet, not to mention Blood Artist, and Messenger.
As long as Zombies is a tier 1 or 2 deck in standard (which it looks to be at the moment) this card will be unplayable.
He has a fun design and i think the card is super cool, he just won't see any competitive play unless there is zero zombies or tokens in the metagame.
Snapped these picks at my FNM, there was a poster with all the PR cards, also the store had a stack of Centaur Tokens to give out, but i'm not sure if they were for future FNM's or Magic Celebration or League play.
The backs of the tokens just have a pic of Niv and a URL for the Judge program.
Sorry for the large file sizes, these are just uploaded on my Flickr as they are too big for the uploader here. If someone wants to shrink and crop them in photoshop that would be great. Sorry for the blur on some of them, these were just off of my cell phone.
Another problem is there were two foil peaks in the Fire & Lightning Foil deck, with special boarders and everything. I guess if they make a 4th version of this card you could run all four in a deck?
If you looked at my decklist I had 4 Probes. As for whether they have played a Titan, if they have done so, I've already lost for the most part. My best chance at that point is with proliferate, not by attacking.
Additionally, Putrefax doesn't need a creature in play to be good. On turn 4 they DoJ, next turn they take 5 poison. That can't happen with Gigantiform. There is almost no situation where Gigantiform is better than Putrefax.
Like i said, agree to disagree, i outlined multiple times where i would prefer one over the other, but whatever lets move on.
As for your titan comment, uh titans come down on turn 5 and 4 quite frequently in this format. If you really think you are dead at that point why are you running awful things like that 4 drop prolifferate guy? he seems like the pinnacle of useless in this style of deck, Contagion clasp seems like a much better more active card for this type of strategy both early and late.
So if they have walls or a titan or pretty much anything putrefax is worse, where as if you have any of your creatures or the unblockable guy this thing hits harder, and is more relevant through blockers. Why wouldn't you want probe in this style of deck? it's straight all in to begin with what with all the pump, it's exactly the type of card you want to be running. Also this style of deck it isn't hard to bait out removal with your pump and vines, and for them to have nothing left by the time you are dropping 5's and at that point bigger is better. But whatever agree to disagree i tested it out and i always found the +3+5 way more relevant. It's totally possible that no 5 drops are necessary, with testing, i just found with the 2 available this one was way better.
Pretty sure Gigantiform is better than Putrefax in no situations. Putrefax, if removed, will never be worse than a 1 for 1 if it is not pumped. Gigantiform will almost always 2 for 1.
On top of that, Putrefax is not often a card that is thrown removal at. It is a one shot card that should get probably 2 extra points of damage through at a minimum in most cases.
As soon as Gigantiform is played, it screams remove me and card advantage is lost.
Pretty sure you have no idea what you are talking about.
Sure cause you are obviously playing out gigantiform into removal with no information. The whole point of gigantiform is it's essentially an 8/8 putrefax in here. If you are playing probes then you should never get blown out, if you aren't playing them then maybe use your head and only lay it down when they are tapped or you have a vines up or really any situation where not playing like a donkey is needed.
Pretty sure Gigantiform is better than putrefax in most situations. You probably want gitaxian probe to make sure the coast is clear for a deck like this.
Bottom line, why have a card that can kill slayer but not a titan? it's just a waste of sideboard slot when you can have a card that does both.
The cost really isn't that big of a factor, if the things you are killing are 5cc and 6cc. You'll have the time.
I'm not saying Effigy is super amazing or even good enough, but it is certainly better than the really narrow cards at the moment. But neither of those decks are that relevant right now anyway.
Qualify for what? A PT? Nats? Really? Show me a single deck that won a PTQ or Q'd for Nats in a major Magic-playing country (i.e. US, Japan, Canada) that you would consider "budget". And no, I don't mean RDW-without-fetchlands, I mean the entire 75 is "budget", as-is.
UR pyromancers ascension, top 4'ing French Nats, and coming 2nd in a 280+ person PTQ?
Other than that though yeah i totally agree, i'm just being snarky.
2 - Propaganda becomes Moat. I wanted to do this originally, but did not really care enough to track down a Moat for a deck I was just testing for the first time. Would have greatly helped against merfolk.
If you can't find/afford a moat an ensnaring bridge is a decent replacement.

Except that it doesn't and you are totally wrong. CMC on the stack is X+1 as far as CB is concerned.

If you are mono G or mono R you want effigies for Fire walkers, titans and Baneslayers, not just a narrow card that only hits one problem.

/and please don't tell me time warp isn't budget.
