If Voice of Resurgence is too expensive you could try something like Strangleroot Geist he's really aggro as well and comes back from the grave,
and while he's cheap money wise he does cost 2 Green Mana so maybe that's a little rough.
I love Strangleroot Geist and i think he could be a force to be recon with in this deck. Undying aristocrats sounds like a blast. but at this point if we are going super aggro he will be a hard sell in a list that s mostly black and white.
Personally if someone wanted to slow the deck down to more control based possibly with JUND colors. you could have Falkenrath Aristocrat, and I would like to see some deck with my favorite card Vorapede! but that is even a greater stretch at 3G in the casting cost so very unlikely.
20 lands to even things out at 60. tell me what yall think!
Waaaaay too many 2 drops. Inconsistent greend/white beginning source. You're obviously black, but which is your second primary, white or green? Get rid of the 1 drop that opposes that because blisterpod and doomed traveler should only be played to try to get early. It's not threatening enouhg late game.
I see that, yeah. The main question I am asking myself is splashing green and white for Voice of Resurgence worth it? We all know its a broken card and demands to be dealt with when its hits.
If I was to drop some of the 2 drops, Should I add more 1 drops or add more 3 drops with 4 copies of Collected Company? And what 3 drops are would come in? Liliana, Heretical Healer., Mirran Crusader? both are pretty manna specific. personally my favorite would be Geralf's Messenger but that 3B is very rough in a 3 color deck unless we introduce creature mana fixing. other creatures like Teysa, Orzhov Scion and Varolz, the Scar-Striped are both intesting takes but they demand their own direction that could pull us away from perfect synergy with the deck.
I havent dug to terribly deep but in this thread but for more of the mana intensive decks has anyone thought about adding Birds of Paradise to their builds?
I think that it could be a very powerful tool for the Abzan decks to be that much faster. I like it in decks where we are using counters with Abzan Ascendancy. so you can have a 1/2 beat stick. It might help out the Evolutionary Leap budget decks.
Right now this is what I am planing on playing. I feel like Brutal Hordechief could really close the gap with fewer creatures we could swing and sacrifice creatures before damage takes place.
Thraashman that is a sneaky combo... especially with scions for extra mana. however do you think that it is too slow being that Blazing Hellhound is a 4 drop. It might be probable in a conrtolish type deck where early on the main focus is to build up cannon fodder to gain the most out of spells like Zulaport Cutthroat, Butcher of the Horde and Fleshbag Marauder.
Just looking into the Mardu lists running Butcher of the Horde behaves some what like Falkenrath Aristocrat did in the original Aristocrats deck. The largest problem I can for see is the lack of resistance of Butcher. With the current format, we should rely on overwhelming our opponent.
One card that might be worth considering is Qarsi High Priest Im wondering if this could be used to flood the board if everything leaves behind a token.
4c aristocrats seems possible I am not so sure how efficient it will be working on the manabase but the main focus of this deck is the scorns and secure the wastes. I can imagine where you sac 3 or 4 scorns play secure the wastes with that get a number of warrior tokens and sacrifice them giving us double the zula triggers. same thing with rally.
@ SUPERSWENS - How are your matchups against control and Mardu? I remember when I was running this deck (prior to Dragons), Mardu was a tough matchup because of Crackling Doom. Now that Mardu is much more represented in the meta, I'm assuming Crackling Doom (and to a lesser extent Foul-Tongue Invocation) poses a larger problem. Also, U/B and Esper control with cards like Perilous Vault, Aetherspouts, Ugin, etc. are also seemingly problematic. Do you have any insight on these matchups?
When playing against control decks the biggest tip i can give is to make sure that you keep pressure on your opponent, and to never over extend. playing fast and loose is NEVER the correct option, waiting for your opponent to tap out to play a spell is the perfect time to react, cast a soulflayer or what not.
Lastly with the sweapers, My goal is to force my opponent to crack their Perilous Vault, or cast Aetherspouts. when its most convenient for me. make the deathmist raptors and and den protectors go to town before dropping som
In any kind of control always bring in Pharika, God of Affliction and Xenagos, God of Revels. They provied resiliance against kill spells and can potentially turn on for the over kill.
It might not be a bad idea to start building post rotation lists now just to be ready.
The largest obstacle i can see post rotation would be putting cards into the graveyard.
Using Sidisi might be the best thing as much as i dont want it to be true haha.
I love this list, I took first place last weekend and the weekend before both with a variety of match-ups from GR dragons, Mono Red, Esper control, Abzan everything. It does well against all.
The idea behind the deck is to play threats. Mean threats. Threats that make the other player facepalm. Bestowing a Chromanticore on to Dragonloard Ojutai is quite hilarious especially when holding Nighthowler.
Cool concept though

With 4 copies of; Satyr Wayfinder, Deathmist Raptor, Den Protector, and Sylvan Caryatid the deck handles fine against Foul-Tongue Invocation but it does have a more difficult time against Cracking Doom. My recommendation would be to remember not to over extend. Same goes for Perilous Vault, and Aetherspouts.
