I have an IQ on saturday and I've been toying around with the different mono red lists. I'm not in love with Raphael's list and valley dasher but the sideboard wins games, albiet inconsistently. I have had the most success with the normal boss sligh lists without rabblemaster. How has rabble tested for you guys? Is it worth a maindeck slot? I've also been using hall of triumph in the main and it's been very good.
Hello, I've been thinking about investing in this deck as my LGS is now supporting modern. I've been running Hoogland's flash version and have been pleased with it but what your opinions on the deck as a whole right now, particularly against pod, soul sisters and elves (these will most likely dominate my local meta)
Favorite Playstyle (Aggro, Midrange, Control, Combo): midrange and Combo
How Competitive (For Fun, Local Tournament, MTGO, PTQ/GP): SCG IQs
Favorite Cards/Colors: wur, rug
Budget: want to try to keep it under 700
Staples Owned: 4 remand, 4 stomping ground, 1 steam vent, 2 misty rain, 1 snapcaster, emrakul/griselbrand, random khans fetches
I don't want to play scapeshift since I tried it out and found it boring to pilot since I prefer being the beat down (I play green devotion in standard). I liked the Jeskai flash deck which hoogland took to scg Atlanta but I'm worried about investing in a deck like this which isn't a super common archetype. My local meta is extremely diverse since I'm lucky enough to have a popular lgs so choosing a deck based on it is extremely difficult. I will expect to play some number of elves and u/r delver however. Let me know what you guys think, I've also been looking into bloom titan but haven't had the chance to try it out yet.
So I'm getting into legacy and run tron/breach in modern so I have emrakuls and griselbrands and I've been thinking of picking this deck up over a long period of time (can't just drop cash on volcanic islands) Would this be worth doing or should I look into something else?
Yeah I couldn't tell if it was an established deck since it was listed as 'rogue' in a couple sites. I'll look into it and try to bring it to my lgs. Thanks!
Favorite Playstyle (Aggro, Midrange, Control, Combo): Combo / midrange, don't mind combo.
How Competitive (For Fun, Local Tournament, MTGO, PTQ/GP):FNM / GP eventually
Favorite Cards/Colors: Blue and Black. Red, Green
Budget: about $300-600
Staples Owned: khans fetches, thoughtseizes, emrakul (lol)
I'm primarily a standard player who wants to get into modern after my lgs started to support it. I've been playing with rg tron lately and it's been a lot of fun but I don't think it is well positioned in the current meta. I've been thinking about trying an r/g search for tomorrow deck with emrakul but the deck seems fairly new and I'd be afraid to invest in it for the long term. Any opinions would be nice. I'm only going to run decks with emrakul since I own it and it's a blast to play with. Thanks!
So I've been trying to get into modern from legacy and I would like to play a deck involving emrakul, since it is my favorite card. What would be the best deck which utilizes it? I've been playing around with rg tron with reasonable results at the moment but I'd like to see what else it out there.
Hey guys, I've been wanting to pick up this deck and play it at my lgs. I was a bit confused however with sideboarding against u/r delver / stoneblade. I'm currently running the list which top 8'd in colombus. Thanks!
@TheFiremind88 I've been playing around with the deck and I always feel like I've been siding in wrong. When would you want to bring in the 4th whip / what's your general plan for boarding against certain matchups (abzan, control, ect).
I've been testing out the list quite a bit and I really like soul of theros. I think he is going to stick around in the list because it allows you to play after whip gets hated on. One change I made was taking out eidolon of blossoms since I found her to be too awkward in the hand and of only real use while in the grave. I've been testing reaper of the wilds as a replacement and I really like it. It may not get the constellation trigger off but I think the added protection and threat makes it worth it.
I'd like other peoples thoughts on the deck. Brad Nelson's main complaint in his scg video was the sideboard, which he felt needed to include wraths and elspeth for devotion match ups.
Congradulations on your win! It's no surprise with a deck like that. I'm wondering though how you would sideboard with the deck? Specifically where necropolis field and doomwake giant would be useful. Also how is herald of torment in the main?
What are your opinions on this control centered jeskai deck which placed top 8 in a states? http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=1218105
I find his use of aetherspouts to be very interested because the card is heavily underplayed. Also jace is a neat tool which helps set up draws with keranos. I think a chandra could be great here but I'm not sure, and the sideboard seems all over the place.
