I feel very sad about what happened. I've felt unacceptable and angry. Not only for I love Sovia(the couple of Sorin and Olivia) and built a commander deck of them, but also Sorin was ruined by WotC. The most important thing I know about him was that he will try everything to protect ISD, but now he just want to kill Nahiri and leave away.
Most of the greatest epic stories of ancient times feature what we now call "retcons". Hell, Virgil's entire Aeneid is basicly one giant retcon, and one of ancient Rome's greatest epic tales! Why should we hold short stories set in the MtG Multiverse to a higher standard?
You must be joking. Aeneid maybe different from others Rome epic tales, but did it different form itself?
No, and WotC did. They wrote the story contradictory
The only thing he appears to truly care about is his home plane. So he creates Avacyn to keep balance there, and does what he can to keep the Eldrazi sealed just so they won't go eating Innistrad eventually. They also not eating those other planes where he finds pleasure and diversions is just a nice plus.
Yes, I think Sorin's only consider thing is Innistrad. (And hard to accept that he will go with others, well I'm meaning Nahiri...
Yes, Sorin was a pre-Mending 'walker, but because he lived through the Mending his power was diminished. He's not nearly the godlike being he once was: all walkers who lived through the Mending were rendered mortal. Bolas has been running dozens of gambits to try and recapture his old power, Liliana struck her deals with the demons to retain her youth and immortality, Ugin was in a coma but eventually he'll realize "huh, this doesn't feel right", Sorin's still effectively immortal because he's a vampire, but he's also now subject to his vampiric hunger again.
You don't get my point, we know the Mending is 4505 but now is 4607, and "centuries" means more than 100 years. So it's happen time is surely before his power was diminished.
In M12 we have a card called Sorin's Vengeance. But what make me interest is that Repay in Kind. It proved that Sorin really have a enemy.
And who is he/she? Look at the flavor text, it took Sorin "for centuries" to be ready, so it has happened before Mending -- Sorin is still that powerful oldwalker! Who can provoke him so much, and also too powerful for Sorin to revenge at once??
For all these reasons, I think the Sorin's Vengeance's unlucky guy is not the final target of Sorin, he looks just like a mortal. but I think he maybe is a stage goal.
I have been guess that Sorin want to avenge Ugin...but the WotC says no, Sorin didn't exactly know Ugin's death before Tarkir.
What do you think? Does WotC already forget this line?
It's good that they're addressing this again, the way they handled it in the Ice age block novels was amazing. I also like how they adressed the fact that being immortal means you have to watch all your friends and loved ones die, It's a sad concept but makes for amazing character developement, as seen in many of Ken Akamatsu's more recent works, for example.
But a exception is Sorin, maybe most of his relevant people is alive, lol (that is why he try his best to protect Innistrad ?
I think, for now, retcons are probably fine, and to be entirely expected. Wizards seems to be going through the motions trying to move into the new epic storytelling model with the 2 set paradigm...
A story which must make a retcon is never a epic story at all, I think.
very good point. its interesting that Ugin seems to also have a better relation ship with Nahiri than with Sorin. every one hates vamps
-Nope, Ugin looks like pursued consequentialism, and he treat Nahiri with a more gentle way just because it works. Conversely I think Ugin has a deeper relationship with Sorin because he spoke his minds bluntly. (Easy to imagine that proud Sorin not so like their friendship...)
This story directly contradicts that claim. Nahiri is quite clear that "there are no vampires on Zendikar".
A retcon, perhaps?
In the sense that this information contradicts what we know? Yeah.
But we don't exactly know all the deets. For all we know, the vampires could've been a secret tribe and have always been on Zendikar, but people didn't know about them. Let's give the team time to explain.
- I have to say that WotC change their setting secretly. The UR post in 2014 -- I meant The Lithomancer, have been noted that Zendikar's vampire. But the words in the web was deleted now.
But I still don't understand, how did he infected by phthisis symptoms? Because he always stay with things of Phyrexia? But he is a walker, isn't walkers can usually immune to Phyrexia disease? And that kind phthisis is the same one caused Hanna's death?
1) If I am a walker and fall in love with Teysa, I want to show her around my home plane, can I do a planewalk with her?
2) I have some trouble and summon one of Teysa's soldier to battle for me, but he was killed, does him don't exist in Ravnica any more?
3) I decide to summon Teysa, but she was doing Orzhov's work and didn't want to summon by me. can I summon her sucessfully?

I began to afraid that WotC may let Nahiri successfully kill Sorrin, and replace him become a BW vamp walker.
But I still don't understand, how did he infected by phthisis symptoms? Because he always stay with things of Phyrexia? But he is a walker, isn't walkers can usually immune to Phyrexia disease? And that kind phthisis is the same one caused Hanna's death?
thx!
