Someone pointed out that Might of the Masses is a card that exists in standard and in a deck that goes wide like Atarka Goblins, Zada might be extremely nasty in that regard.
My LGS is doing a modern FNM tonight and I just put together a GW Hatebears deck. It doesn't have aethervials or finks, and the sideboard could use work. This is what I'm taking in. Thoughts or recommendations?
The Twin player taps Exarch to make an Exarch token.
The Exarch token ETB.
The Twin player makes his/her Exarch token's ETB ability untap the Exarch with Twin on it.
In response, you Revelry Twin.
Twin blows up.
...and then the non-token Exarch untaps.
You can also blow up Twin in response to the token creation trigger, and they still wouldn't be able to combo off afterward, but then their token can untap their land instead or some other garbage could happen.
If they never tap the Exarch with Twin on it, they'll never combo off! (And then you can Revelry their Twin during their EOT if they foolishly don't combo off, and then they CAN'T combo off afterward.)
Makes perfect sense. Thanks. Definitely putting it in against Twin now.
First, I'd recommend nixing the checklands and adding more fetches in their place. If fetches are too expensive, they are probably fine, but I think you'd still be better off with a fastland (Copperline Gorge) and or a painland like Battlefield Forge. Checklands make really awkward 1-lands hands that might otherwise be keepable.
Fair point. I was following a list and while I never encountered any awkward cases with them, I acknowledge the risk associated with that. I have the shocks for it, just thought it was better to not have to take damage.
Against Tron, you probably side in all 4 copies. Searing Blaze and Helix aren't that great, but Revelry can tag an early mana rock, an Oblivion Stone, 1/3rd of a Wurm, Spellskite, etc. It's probably our best card against them, save for the option of Molten Rain.
You also want 1-2 copies minimum against the likes of Infect and Twin. Both decks have access to Spellskite, and it's also critical against Inkmoth Nexus, Wild Defiance, and a few other tricks Infect might pull. Against Twin, it's a no-brainer, since they basically will always keep the combo against us as their only way to actually race. Not to mention they have access to stuff like Batterskull, Blood Moon, Threads of Disloyalty, and Vedalken Shackles. You don't want to overload on the effect against decks with few targets, but both Twin and Infect warrant at least 1-2 copies of Revelry in game 2, and then adjust accordingly for game 3 if necessary.
Noted. I forgot Inkmoth counted as a artifact. In those cases though, would Smash to Smithereens be the better choice or would it be better to still side in the extra 2 copies of Revelry?
8-Rack: All their namesake win conditions are targets for Revelry. You should almost certainly run all 4 here post-board. If you draw a dead copy, you can probably just discard it to one of their many discard spells to protect a better card in your hand. But 2-for-1s are great here, and Revelry stops their clock. If they have enough creatures, Searing Blaze is still good, but if not it's an easy cut. Skullcrack is unlikely to do much here, and Atarka's Command might similarly only be a basic 3-damage spell for 2 (since they tend to keep the board clear of creatures), but Lightning Helix is still great to help race them.
I had sided in Smash and that was definitely useful. Admittedly, the revelries would've been equally useful too. Thanks.
What did the Eldrazi deck use to ramp? If it was artifacts, than again Revelry looks good. If it was creatures, Blaze is huge. If it's simply spells, than you are better off just racing them, and not messing with your maindeck too much.
I don't recall many artifacts, mainly elves and Primeval titan and spells to put land on the battlefield. This was a pretty one sided match up overall.
In any case, it sounds like you didn't use Revelry to it's full potential, which could explain the losses against Twin and Infect. It's a fine line, having the answer to their Twin or Inkmoth at the right moment vs. having too many dead cards in hand, but overall Revelry really helps shore up these matches.
In the cases of Twin, I acknowledge that their artifacts are a pain to deal with, but if I understand it right, it doesn't work against the actual enchantment cause they just can just combo off in response. Isn't that right?
I recently piloted my own Burn deck in a Modern GPT and managed to make top 8 out of 26 people, going 3-2 before the cut. Mainly lost to Infect and Twin, due to them having better draws, but I was wonder of ways to improve the deck.
My round by round match ups were
GR Tron - 2-1
UG Infect - 1-2
Ramp into Eldrazi (Not Tron or Elves) - 2-0
8Rack - 2-1
Twin - 1-2
Other I noticed I never found myself boarding in Destructive Revelry mainly because I never faced Enchantment or Artifact heavy decks. Are there any other deck types I should put them in against?
I'm a long time reader, first time poster wanting to get more into the MTG community so I figure I do my best and contribute to the pertaining discussions involving standard (Jeskai Tempo is very appealing to me).
Typically I like aggro or burn based decks, but occasionally slip into janky control decks. Ultimately, I like fun interesting decks that can hit hard and fast or just have some interesting way to win (BUG Phenax for instance)

Yea. So long as you can fetch for red, you should be golden as long as your shocks have red, which they should..
