posted a message on Sir Shandlar, Knight Tribal #VorthosLife
A guy in my playgroup has this deck in full old card frame black border. We all have a deck or two like this and it's hilarious good fun. I'll take a look through it as soon as I can to find stuff that isn't just a knight. Noble Steeds comes to mind. It takes a lot of going though cards online or digging through a big collection to build a deck like this but it's so much fun to play, especially against other decks of similar power level. Remember to shout out your mighty general's flavor text whenever the opportunity arises.

Why not run Valakut, the Molten Pinacle since you're mono-red? There are enough mountains in here to turn it on easily, especially if you add Thawing Glaciers too. Glaciers is super slow but helped in my Daretti deck to consistently hit land drops in a color that struggles with draw and ramp.

Why not run Squee, Goblin Nabob as another matron target? He works really well with red looting. Goblin Replica is mana-intensive but is a goblin for matron and an artifact as well.

Shattering Spree was great for me to help keep opposing artifacts at bay and slow down mana rocks.

Fun way to keep track of who is on the throne easily: a toy crown/tiara. Pass it around as life totals change. Want to know who's on the throne? Look at your opponents' heads.

This. It's a card for sacrificing with the trigger on the stack. It was an essential card in my friends Vish Kal deck. +12/+12 and easy to pull back out of the yard with Sun Titan or Reanimate. It's pretty easy to get to critical mass with it.

But yes, it's also dope with Varolz, the Scar-Striped.

posted a message on Need help making a zo-zu the punisher deck.
I played Zo-Zu for a long time before I passed the deck on to a friend who loved it even more than I did. I've played with plenty of people that got really upset but I've also played with people smart enough to realize that Zo-Zu probably won't win, but he will speed up the game. Dropping Zo-Zu turn 3 and having him killed immediately is the worst thing that can happen. Make sure your opponents know that if they kill him right away, that person will be on the receiving end of your wrath for the rest of the game. Pack enough targeted land destruction to blast that player repeatedly. They should learn that you'll follow through on your threats after that.

A few key cards that Elvish Sniper didn't mention.

    Keldon Firebombers
    Wildfire
    Destructive Force
    Tunnel Ingus
    Spellshock
    Dingus Staff
    Dingus Egg
    Blood Clock
    Umbilicus
    Stone Rain
    Molten Rain
Winter Orb is worth experimenting with. I had mixed results.
    Decree of Annihilation
    Obsidian Fireheart
    Shrine of Burning Rage
    Viashino Heretic
    Slith Firewalker
    Ruination

I actually found it was better to avoid giving Zo-Zu lifelink. He sticks around longer since it's still "fair" in the damage being dealt. Other people gaining life is one of the biggest things for Zo-Zu to overcome. Stigma Lasher is great at stopping that, and Flames of the Blood Hand and Skullcrack can help.

Be prepared to get comments such as, "I'm being punished for playing Magic..." and have it not be a deck you pull out every game. It does help you get more games in though.

In addition to what others have said, Katabatic Winds is a card nobody sees coming, everyone has to read, and it completely screws some people.

posted a message on Traveling Band of EDH Players: Across the USA
Hey, all. I and two others will be traveling across and around the country over the next 2-3 months. We are casual EDH players looking for others to meet up with. Two of us have been playing magic for around 10 years and EDH since around the time of Planar Chaos. The third has recently gotten back into magic and started playing EDH within the past couple months, but he's really excited to learn more. Like I said before, we're pretty casual and care more about having fun and cool board states than winning.

Here's a general map of where we'll be going:

We are leaving from North Carolina June 2nd for Kentucky and then Tennessee.
We are leaving from Tennessee June 16th and heading west to Colorado (through St. Louis and Kansas City). We'll probably spend a little while around Boulder and Denver.
From there we'll go north to Fort Collins and over the Rockies, following the Colorado river southwest through Grand Junction.
From Grand Junction onwards, our route is a bit less defined. We'll probably go through southern Utah into Arizona and then to California, but we're not sure of the exact route. We are definitely going to be in the Bay Area, Portland, Seattle, and Spokane.
We're going through Idaho to Glacier National Park, then south through Montana and Wyoming to Yellowstone.
We'll finish up back in Boulder.

    Here's a picture of our car/house:

If you're anywhere along or around the route and want to play some EDH, please let me know. Here are some things we'd appreciate:
    1) People to play magic with! Or just new friends in general.
    2) A place to shower and/or do laundry
    3) A hose to fill up our water tank
    4) Recommendations on places to camp. We have the vw camper and a small tent and are looking looking for places that are relatively secluded and free, ideally.
    5) Recommendations on places to eat
    6) Fun things to do: places to swim, hike, etc.

What we can provide you with:
    1) New people to play magic with that love to have fun.
    2) Cooking
    3) Musical entertainment
    4) Drinks (If you're of age)
    5) Being the coolest kid on the block with the yellow bus parked outside your house
    6) You tell me. How can we help you out?

Some EDH decks we are bringing:

I apologize if this is the wrong place, so if the mods feel it should be moved, feel free. We are especially looking for EDH players or people who want to play EDH (you're welcome to borrow our decks). Comment here or PM me if you want to make new friends, please! I can PM you my cell number or email if you'd like.
