This sounds really cool and all, but its just another format where I can't bust out my foil Budoka Gardener from its binder or my german Haakon, Stromgald Scourge. It really bites.
Not only could you pay seven life to draw seven cards, if you equipped him with lightning greaves you could also earn back the seven life you payed that same turn, plus he is effectively a three turn clock with evasion, plus you could easily cheat him into play. I seen a guy pay 14 life in one turn, discard 7 of the lands he drew, then swing with Griselbrand to regain 7 life.
Why can't I run Genju of the Realm as my general?
Why can't I run Elbrus, the Binding Blade as my general?
Why is there no legendary squirrel that isn't an ultimus?
Why is there no legendary ouphe?
Why is there no legendary ally?
Why is there no legendary chimera?
Why is there no legendary yeti?
Why is there no legendary goat?
After the Mending, Bolas lost the ability to retain much of his 25,000 years worth of arcane knowledge. He managed to escape to the plane of Alara where he began machinations while dwelling in the Shard of Grixis, claiming the necropolis of Kederekt as his own. He prepared to take advantage of the coming Conflux to regain his power, and started to manipulate certain individuals and organizations on the multiple shards to create an environment rife with tension and ready for war:
Bant: The Order of the Skyward Eye and Gwafa Hazid spread xenophobia and disorder along the borderlands of Bant's nations.
Esper: The Seekers of Carmot warned Esperites about dwindling supplies of etherium, and created a fervent demand for the otherworldly red stone called carmot.
Grixis: Malfegor lead massive armies of the undead, gathering hordes ready to invade the other shards and cut chaotic swaths through any living resistance they find.
Jund: Rakka Mar stirred fervor for greater and greater "life hunts" among the warrior clans there.
Naya: Marisi stimulated the emergence of the philosophical schism of the nacatl Cloud Empire and the revolt of the Wild Nacatl, that resulted in destruction of most of the advanced Cloud Nacatl civilization and cities and the cat-people nation's regression back to savagery.
To also note: Grixis was fully under Nicol Bolas's control.
Serra Angel...Thundering Giant. Does each deck have one of these "kinda-but-not-really-in-M15" cards?
Thundering Giant and Serra Angel are both from M15. Its a weird trend they developed awhile back so that each new set with intro decks that come after the core set will always come with cards from the core set.
I started out with Odyssey when it was brand new, got advised by a store owner to get one of the preconstructed decks and build off that. I picked Trounce-o-Matic (U/G Threshold) which slowly got transformed into U/G Madness, which I still have on my shelf. Yet the modern version being Intro Packs seem...off. I know they want to also promote the coreset yet I just can't help but think "If only there was less M15 in this intro deck and more KTK". I would also trade the two packs for better deck construction.
Seems like the best ones to build off would be Azeban or Mardu if your looking for windmilling. I will go with Mardu Raiders.
1. Yep it is.
2. Witness of the Ages and Windstorm. Their flavortexts I feel tell what happened to Ugin.
3. If dragons are intelligent beings, which they tend to be, it would make sense they could develop their own language and alphabet.
4. When does the voice of Ugin stop and the madness begin?
5. Bolas knew Ghostfire was part to opening, however he wasn't aware it required a second key which was designed by the Lithomancer. As for how he knows, Bolas tends to delve into peoples minds in order to learn their secrets.
6. Ugin being dead could have been thousands of years ago and that Bolas didn't think that far into the future. Ugin's Nexus, his body, is a time anomaly.
7. Well Ghostfire has special properties: It is hard to see. Only a few people have ever learned to control ghostfire. It is believed that anyone able to control Ghostfire is able to transcend natural elements and alter their fundamental nature and existence. (Sources: Ghostfire. Planeswalkers Guide to Khans of Tarkir Part 1 [Jeskai])
8. Yep I agree. MaRo has stated that we will see changes to Morph in FRF and Dragons of Tarkir. Plus what better way to avoid being attacked at or redirectly damaged from burn spells when your planeswalker than to turn yourself into a facedown creature?
9. Possible, they both have a bit of a similar beard going on. Though it is hard to go off of art alone to determine what a card might be (*COUGH*The sphinx is not green*COUGH*)
10. They look like separate entities to me, but that might just be me.
11. In the same trailer he refers to Ugin as a ghost. Which the "never born at all" and "the other a ghost" are either taken literally or figuratively. Like he could be literal at "never being born at all" and figurative with "the other a ghost". (Also Sarkhan has an awesome voice)

I can't wait to see what they do with morph in FRF.
