A few updates now C17 is out. Curse of Opulence replaces Mana Crypt , I love the crypt but I think I will get more mileage out of the curse. Plus more red mana is never a bad thing! Neheb, the Eternal replaces Coldsteel Heart for similar reasons.
I've got a Ruric deck and it is oddly competitive. Every nonland card is a creature so I don't Thar myself and in it's best game, between Clone, Phyrexian Metamorph, and Sculpting steel everyone had a RT! An allstar for me is Soul of New Phyrexia. It's expensive but makes board wipes less debilitating.
Rakdos control, I love it! Politicking never works in my playgroup, Edric, Spymaster of Trest can be thanked for that.. But Kaervek is a house! I have an affinity for Furnace of Rath and Dictate of the Twin Gods, and you are in the colors for Havoc Festival!! (I know, I know.. it's a pet card of mine) I'll give a serious push for Goblin Sharpshooter, with all that deathtouch equipment he can do some damage.
It would only effect my playstyle if Planeswalker Legendary status came with "can be played as your commander." I like the new rule, though. Gideon tribal FTW!
Seconding the additional land notion. I always start at 36 and add as necessary. Also, Prophet of Kruphix is banned in EDH and there is no single card that can replace her, but Brago, King Eternal should somewhat fill that hole.
That list is absolutely fabulous. I had a Derevi, Empyrial Tactician deck with some similarities and much less finesse. Of course, it was stax... And the games, like yours, would stretch on for hours. Even after adding all the sword of X & Y's, the bird could not be hurried. I got some miles out of Porphyry Nodes and something like Lightmine Field guarantees defensive hippos only... But something tells me you want those little guys swinging! Politics don't really work in my playgroup but this deck oozes with potential.
I would be interested in seeing a decklist, specifically the one mentioned in the "how much removal" thread toting 50 plus pieces. That's my kind of puzzle!
Vedalken Shackles could make some waves. And a pet card of mine Quicksilver Fountain ups island counts on your side and potentially messes with opponents landbase.
@helghast101, Beautiful list, so many lands though! My playgroup frowns on land destruction (unless it's immediately winning the game) so it wouldn't fly for me. Always wanted a Braid of Fire, seems the perfect mint for fire-breath!
Someone in my meta used to run Kaervek and it was a monster of a deck. His CMC means he's probably dodging the first wave of removal and board wipe. Your deck looks great! I was always a fan of red's pestilence, Pyrohemia and got good mileage from Vicious Shadows. Life gain runs rampant in our group so Erebos, God of the Dead and Sulfuric Vortex are all stars. Also, I cannot hide my love for X spells. Since your life total is likely to be higher than most, maybe Earthquake, Rolling Earthquake, and Fault Line can double as board wipes and game enders.
If you ran either Akroma and Akroma's Memorial you could Bludgeon Brawl and make her equip her own statue as a weapon. I'm pretty sure the group would unanimously vote you the victor.

Tutor for that forge or any equipments. Yeah, you gotta sac some stuff, but activating him in response to a boardwipe is 100% class.
That is interesting, especially with the equip at instant speed stuff going on. It is definitely a way to get Darksteel Forge too. I'm not sure there's enough expendable artifacts here though or any artifacts that are good enough that's it's worth it to sacrifice three for one aside from the forge.
Well, 2 artifacts and the Forgemaster is usually what I'd end up sacing. My Meta runs plenty of artifact hate and sweepers and Kuldotha gives a big middle finger to a Vandalblast. If you can run a Crucible of Worlds easy fodder could be Ancient Den, Tree of Tales, and Darksteel Citadel. They also help with metalcraft. Something to consider is Open the Vaults. Also, forgot to mention Leonin Abunas. You get some boots on him and you're golden.
