It may sound trite but i got my collection by being good at limited. Go to sealed events and pre-releases and get good, eventually you will win more and then be able to play constructed tourneys with your prize. If that doesn't work you can get a team to pool your cards. I have a 4 person team and none of us have bought product since betrayers and we have extra copies of all the duals.

Not to mention that if they follow the plotline, they've left themselves a way to get Chef back in the show if things work out.

But all Chef will want to do is have children suck on his chocolate salty balls.

when i heard that Hayes had quit SP i figured that he didn't really quit but that actually someone told him to quit. but then again i'm really cynical.

for people that don't know, L. Ron Hubbard (the guy who started scientology) made his money as a science-fiction writer, remember Battlefield Earth...yeah me neither. anyway Hubbard was once quoted as saying something along the lines of - "the fastest way to make money is to start a religion.". kind of eerie when you think about it.

Brightflame is friggin insane in 2HG. If you can cast it, you usually get a bunch of life off it. I saw people in Orlando cast it for 12 life, 25 life, and 45 life in different games.

Yeah Brightflame is a monster. it is easier to deal with then Hex because each head can play with cards like Thoughtpicker Witch and Golgari Rotwurm. But now that i think about it Glimpse the Unthinkable is kind of a house too. if open any other mill with that card you shouldn't lose.

The team i carpooled up with opened Hex, Brightflame, Storm Herd, and Sunforger. and one time i saw this same team swing in with a Skarrgan Skybreaker that had an Infiltrator's Magemark and a sunforger attatched to it then activated for 11 more. It was pretty crazy.

So you're saying the answer to the format is to main-deck answers to bomb rares that are all but useless 90% of the time? Um... no.

no you missed the point. Rain is not a good card but one of the reasons people dont play it in regular sealed is because they can always fall back on their sideboard if they are facing selesnya. Well we dont have that luxury in 2HG so playing it is a pretty good idea. 2 mana for 2 points plus wipe the selesnya board (or everybody's board after combat) and the chance to combine it with effects like Cleansing beam and Orzhov Abortionist make Rain decent in 2HG.

I still think that Hex is the only rare bomb that can't realistically be answered unless you are willing to play counterspells.

EDIT: damn forgot about Glare. That card single handedly wins games on its own no matter what limited format you are playing. luckily we had fetters, absolver thrull, and sundering vitae between our decks. Smile

Are there anymore Magic comic strips? And if so, can you link them? Thanks Smile

I dont know many other non-mtg related strips that reference magic except for the Penny-Arcade one that i already linked to. But some ocasionally funny only mtg related web-comic sites are Pro MTG and Manascrewed

I came out as a Spike which is mostly accurate since i almost never go to a tourney not expecting to at least top 8

I however don't actually know what a Vorthos is.

A Vorthos is a guy who plays magic simply for the flavor. i think that being a Vorthos would be very fun unfortunately i dont have time to read all the books. for more in-depth analysis of Vorthos check out this article. and the rest of Covatta's article are all about flavor.

Obviously people who know what they are doing will do better, but compared to most formats, this is random. They took what was already the most random format (sealed) and made it even worse by slowing it down to the point that expensive rares are dominant.

The problem with rare "bombs" is that every rare creature/creature producer i can think of still dies to common removal. My team know that Storm Herd would be the nuts so we put Cleansing Beam and the usually sub par Rain of Embers. Hex is a bomb in regular limited and only gets better in this format but a good team can play around it. My team only had 1 good rare between two decks (i played 0 rares and he played 1 Ursapine) and we still managed a 4-0 to draw into top 4. and we had 30 teams.

This format is defined by what commons you open just like every other limited format. in 2hg you only get 2 more rares than normal but you get 28 more commons and uncommons.

I found my 2HG Champs experience rather enjoyable. my team went 4-0-2 to draw into top 4. It was a very long day. We started around 11:00 and swiss ended around 8:00. The format is not random at all. it takes a lot of skill and experience with sealed decks in general in order to do well. Of the three sealed ptq's i have attended I've made top 8 twice and made the finals once so my sealed knowledge is pretty strong. 2HG is a fun format and IMO the reason it takes so long is slow players that go to time every round.

I'm still having trouble understanding why "beliefs" cannot be made fun of. He's acting the same as the Muslims did after the cartoons.

Really? He's out burning mosques and embassies.

SP make fun of black people all the time and he obviously took it as tongue and cheek. I wonder if there isn't a deeper reason for him leaving the show.
