Congrats on the finish! I was wondering if you could tell me about the single gifted aetherborn in the sidebaord. Seems useful against burn, and some creature match-ups although I'm not sure which.

I just picked up the list from Lepore's article and played a few games with it. Pieces of the puzzle is a seriously fun card. Murderous cut feels like a really powerful card in this deck and I cut (hah) the ultimate price for a second one. 3 delve spells in the list doesn't feel taxing on the graveyard.

How good has Linvala, the Preserver been? I imagine for death's shadow decks in particular they typically have less life than you and just one lingering souls likely puts you on par with how many creatures they have since they're pretty threat light. Moving that to the sideboard for matches you really want it, or cutting it all together, for another removal spell might help out there. Collective brutality might be a good option since it gives game against Burn and Company decks, where I imagine Linvala has been good, while being not dead against control decks.

Shizo looks awesome. I've ran into a couple spots already where it would have allowed to punch through that extra damage to seal the game.

Sounds like a blast! Can't wait to try this out. To me this method is screaming for some dice rolls to mix things up. So if you're doing an 8x8 and you have a couple d8 (or a nifty app) go ahead and roll them (determine which is rows and which is columns, or use one and roll it for rows, then columns) and pluck out the card at the given coordinates to open things in the middle up from the beginning. Maybe even every couple of picks roll it again! Maybe multiple times would be too crazy.... Just an interesting possibility if you want to open it up more.

Nice, I like this idea! I've thrown together a 155 card "micro-cube" that I almost exclusively pull 90 from for winston. It is nice having a bit larger stack in case we wanna mix it up with a grid draft or something, also to add a bit of variance to the winston drafts. If you get enchanting something like War priest of Thune would be good. Also some bestow cards can be nifty for being good at multiple parts of the game. Mogis's Warhound and Gnarled Scarhide work well in aggressive decks on the curve as a creature, or can be used later to buff up some creatures, or even bestowed onto an opponent's card to disrupt their plan by forcing attacks/taking away blocks. Talk about multiple uses, eh?

More importantly, there are cheap lands that improve manabases like Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds.

I second this, it will open up decks to being able to more reliably set up splashing a color. Even a simple artifact like Prophetic Prism could be helpful and has some added value of drawing a card. I look forward to what you end up adding to this list!
