Hi guys, two of my local stores are having standard GPT's and PPTQ's this weekend, and I'm trying to figure out how to order Nissa's and have them in time for the event. I know stores can't ship them until Friday, but I'm not confident in my local store to have enough in stock for me to get them, as their singles are pretty limited. Any help you have would be appreciated!
I won't post the link as I don't know the rules on this forum for linking, but Melissa Detora did a deck tech on her version of this deck on TCG player today. Interesting take on the Enchantment theme.
Has anyone done any further testing to Adrianne Sullivan's list? I have it built (minus the jaces in the board), and I've been having some mixed success with it. Wondering if anyone has made any changes to it post PT?
Here is my current list for the PPTQ this weekend. Listening to Pat Chapins podcast he said he would play abzan aggro this weekend but go bigger. So I tried to combine the elements of the aggro and control build. The land base def needs touching up because my locals doesn't have Temples of Malady so I'm going to try and trade for them/buy them at the shop hosting the event the morning of. I'd love any constructive help any of you can give. So far I'm 2-1 vs abzan control, 2-0 vs GR devotion, 4-0 vs red.
Very new to Abzan, borrowed the cards from a friend to have something to play until rotation. My question is, would you still play courser now that hangarback is in the deck?
Build decks around bad rares. Its challenging for you to try and make them work, and your friends won't get smashed by seige rhino every game. Last format I built a riddle of lightning for this reason. Was crazy awesome when it worked, but was such a fragile "combo" that even the worst players had decent records against me.
At that level, Wizards own website will probably be the best. They have alot of content as far basics of deck building, mana curve, when to attack, ect. Other sites like channel fireball, tcgplayer, and starcity do have some great articles but alot of those focus of specific decks and meta game analysis you may not be interested. There are hundreds of websites for magic and strategy, your request is unfortunately in a very niche area of the game, one that I love as a brewer at heart.
Another fun option is using this site as a resource. There are lots of brewers in the forums who love building decks the way you do, imagine it as building with your buddies.
To all who have tried them, what colors of the the new Dragonshield Matte's are opaque? I prefer not get black unless I have too but with the dual faced walkers I do need them to be opaque for the GP this weekend. Any suggestions?
Ran into an issue last night while playtesting for the GP this weekend. Opponent attacks with two creatures, I flash in Hixus declare no blocks and allow damage to happen:
Both of his creatures should be exiled correct? My interpretation of the card is that Hixus will have to enter the battlefield before damage to get his trigger,
Or am I reading it wrong and he has to come in after damage as been done in main phase 2 or end phase to get the exile trigger (his interpretation of the card).
Thank you so much for the responses. I'm not solely looking for ways to beat bloom, but also just improve the deck as a whole, but bloom seems to be my worst match up by far.
I was already considering Surgical Extraction and it's nice to hear someone else suggest it. I think that would work well against non-bloom decks as well so that is a nice option to have being able to strip away cards I know can cause me huge problems like lightning bolt, snapcaster, ect.
Negate is a one of in my side, which I forgot to type in off of memory, but more could help.
Pestermite could easily take the place of Sorceror, who I was using to flash in to counter creatures and/or leave a 2/1 flying body. Pestermite could be a good replacement or add on easily though.
I thought about Gideon when thinking about making a pure control build, which I may end up doing as I'm thinking the swords are just to slow and fragile for my local meta (which is massive). When they work they are great but often I don't draw them and have no way to cheat them in.
Thanks again for the help, and hope to hear any more from everyone as I'm very much looking to improve the deck.
Adapted this list from Shinbatsu's Budget deck challenge. Liked the look of the deck and improved upon it since I wasn't restricted to $50. Anyone have any idea's of how I can further improve the deck? My biggest problem at my LGS at the moment is amulet bloom. I've been consistantly going 2/2 every event but can't seem to put up any fight vs bloom at all.
I already have the fetches, shocks, and most of the dual lands. A few changes I know I need to make as budgets allow such as Path's instead of Condemn, and more swords instead of Runechanter's pike. Any ideas will be super helpful as I'm new to modern and don't know cards before RTR that well.
Edit: did the list off memory, sorry is some of the cards are not typed out correctly.
Anybody else getting an "SCG Live currently offline" besides me? I'm new to SCG coverage. It honestly could be my work computer trying to screw me out of some sweet sweet modern action though.
As someone just getting into modern I love Modern Masters. I would have love it alot more if Snapcaster was in it too though. While some players like yourself do enjoy collecting, and do enjoy having first prints of everything, almost everyone I know in the game just cares about playing and tournaments. Modern Masters is legal to use in tournaments, and has been flying off the shelves like crazy. When people win a tournament they're not getting dragons packs, they're geting MM packs because its cards people want, that hold high price values. While your opinion is not wrong, because an opinion can not be wrong, only a small few on here seem to agree with you.
