Thanks, your answer was much more straightforward than my question
Edit: Just to clarify, if I enchanted it but didn't attack, would Ordeal stay on until I attacked with the Hoplite?
Hello,
Say I had a Battlewise Hoplite with 3 +1/+1 counters already. If I were to cast Ordeal of Heliod on it, what would happen? Would I gain 10 life immediately? Would I have to wait a turn? If I did, would I have to attack, and would it get another +1/+1 counter? Or would the target be illegal in the first place?
Nothing is ever going to happen to Siege Rhino. You will just have to learn to deal with it.
I also lost a game to a Siege Rhino a few days ago (Maybe because I'm horrible at this game). I will admit that this is a powerful card. I wouldn't call it "Undercosted" because it all revolves around supply/demand (simple economics). Obviously, Wizards doesn't set the price, it's the secondary market.
Nobody can just pick up a playset of Siege Rhinos and magically win the game. Sure, Abzan Midrange is a very popular archetype right now, and sure, Siege Rhino is one of the "staples". But if you really could just pick up a playset of Siege Rhinos and automatically win every game you ever start, then almost everybody would be using it. And, since it is "Ridiculously Undercosted", people would have no problem paying the $14 (after all, that's all you need to win) for a playset. That's not quite how it works.
If I were to have one wish come true about this card, I think it should be lowered to a 3/4 instead of 4/5 (come on, it deals 3 damage when it ETB, right?). Then we could hit into it with Stoke the Flames. EZPZ.
But, of course, Abzan would +1/+1 it before I could even draw stoke, and then it would have flying, lifelink, deathtouch, first strike, etc. with some of the other Abzan cards. That is what you should be fearing.
Or, maybe they should make it cost 5 or 6 CMC. But, like I said, nothing is going to change.
I will try your suggestions, Nev. I was kind of wondering about the Magma Jet myself. The scry is nice, but only 2 damage doesn't really justify. I will consider War-Name Aspirants. I kind of overlooked that card, and bypassing Caryatid is nice (Annoying Hexproof).
As for the Hoplites, do you think I should use Firedrinker Satyr intead? I figured the Hoplites were better at first, because of heroic, no life loss and higher toughness, but I almost never target them in the first place.
Alright, I have replaced Borderland Marauder with Monastery Swiftspear, added Stoke the Flames, and made a few other changes. Here is what it looks like now:
The Searing Blood went to Sideboard. Got rid of Arena Athlete, dropped Lightning Strike down to 2 to make room for Stoke.
Edit: I don't see myself using Hordeling Outburst (No haste, already enough 1/1s, 3 mana, and I would only use it to pump Foundry Street Denizen). Mogis's Warhound may be interesting, but I'm not so sure.
Hey, I went to FNM for the first time and got totally stomped, especially by Abzan Midrange (Siege Rhino)
I tried running a Mono-Red deck because it was the least expensive competitive archetype I could find. Here is my current deck:
By rushing early, I easily got my opponents down to approximately 5 life. After that, my opponents got more heavy creatures while I couldn't really do anything about them.
Unfortunately, Goblin Rabblemaster is out of my budget. I think the first change I should make is getting rid of Satyr Hoplite in favor of Firedrinker Satyr. I should also maybe use Monastery Swiftspear instead of Borderland Marauder. Beyond that, I have no idea where to go. Although somewhat expensive, I could get a playset of Stoke the Flames if absolutely necessary, but I would like to avoid it if possible.
Thanks! Any help appreciated
Edit: Forgot to mention, the rest of the Searing Bloods are in Sideboard.
Do 2 abilities from the same card "stack"? For example, if I had 2 Chief of the Scales in play, would my warriors get +0/+2? Or would only one of them apply?
In addition, if there were 2 Chiefs, would they each get +0/+1, because they are "other"? Or would neither of them get anything because they have the same name?
I have a few random questions which I should know the answer to by now...
1. When a card says "Until end of turn", does that mean only until the end of MY turn, or until my next turn (After the opponent's turn)? For example, if I had a Rakshasa Deathdealer get +2/+2 until end of turn, would it have +2/+2 only until the end of MY turn, or would it stay until the start of my next turn?
2. A little more specifically, with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, if I had it in play and I tapped a Mountain, would I get to add a red AND a black to my mana pool, or just one or the other?
$20 is the most I would like to spend, preferably under $15. Is there anything I should improve? I would like to start going to FNM and would like to be competitive. All suggestions appreciated.
Hello all,
I would like to build a deck that will be competitive at FNM without spending very much money. I was looking around this morning and spent a couple hours creating this deck:
Hello,
I was wondering, what would happen if you used Shrapnel Blast with Darksteel Citadel? It is indestructible, but you are "sacrificing" it and not "destroying" it. What would happen?
The current list I have is:
2 Akoum Hellkite
3 Jaddi Offshoot
4 Scythe Leopard
4 Makindi Sliderunner
4 Snapping Gnarlid
2 Oran-Rief Hydra
4 Retreat to Kazandu
2 Retreat to Valakut
4 Titan's Strength
4 Temur Battle Rage
12 Mountain
9 Forest
3 Evolving Wilds
The idea of the deck is to get Jaddi Offshoot out early for lifegain, and ramp up Scythe Leopard, Makindi Sliderunner and Snapping Gnarlid by playing lands often. Titan's Strength and Temur Battle Rage are in there for evasion, but I'm not sure if that will be enough. Also, this deck is severely lacking on removal, but I would like to avoid paying for Wild Slash and/or Exquisite Firecraft.
Does this deck have any chances at winning a few rounds at FNM? If not, what steps should I take?
Cardtags: If I were to sacrifice an Eldrazi Scion token generated by From Beyond for the bonus of Nantuko Husk, would I still get the colorless mana?
Edit: Just to clarify, if I enchanted it but didn't attack, would Ordeal stay on until I attacked with the Hoplite?

4 Frenzied Goblin

1 Coordinated Assault

I saw a deck similar to this online, and I tweaked it a bit. This is what it looks like now:
4 Dismal Backwater
11 Island
8 Swamp
Spells
4 Crypsis
4 Dissolve
4 Retraction Helix
4 Springleaf Drum
2 Arbiter of the Ideal
4 Daring Thief
4 Disciple of Deceit
4 King Macar, the Gold-Cursed
4 Servant of Tymaret
3 Siren of the Silent Song

14 Plains
11 Swamp
Spells
2 Gift of Immortality
3 Ordeal of Heliod
2 Pharika's Cure
3 Aegis of the Gods
2 Celestial Archon
2 Eidolon of Countless Battles
2 Lagonna-Band Elder
3 Fate Unraveler
4 Gnarled Scarhide
3 Nighthowler
2 Sightless Brawler
3 Spirit of the Labyrinth
4 Spiteful Returned
Like I said above, I don't want to spend very much money... Are there any changes that should be made? I may not have enough spells, to begin with.
Also, I would like to keep this Rotation-Friendly, so no cards from RTR block/M14, please
