Everyone is far more impressed with this than the recipe. You be amazed at how good and easy this is...

Lemon Pepper / Rosemary Grilled Chicken:

    Half-stick of butter.
    About a spoonful of Rosemary
About a spoonful of Lemon Pepper
    About a spoonful of Thyme
    2-3 chicken breasts.

Microwave the butter until it's liquid. Dump in the herbs. Dip chicken into butter and herbs until completely covered or just marinate them.

Grill chicken. If using an open flame grill, like charcoal, make sure to cover, otherwise butter will cause a flame and blacken the chicken. Not a horrible thing, but too much is bad.

Serve with anything. Couple cans of vegitables. Baked potato. Whatever.

Another option for making money is through FDA style drug testing. This requires you to leave the house (barely), but includes no long-term commitment, pays really well, and is about as easy as they come.

It's safe as well. As long as you stick to class-three studies, which are very common. Drug companies are required to test over-and-over-and-over, so there is a big demand.

When I tested drugs ten or so years ago, I was in a series of studies to test a generic hypertension match to an existing FDA approved hypertension drug. All they were trying to do is get a 1:1 match.

This was in the Raleigh-Durham Triangle Park area, but there are clinics throughout the world that do this.

This is how all my studies worked:

    1) Pre-Screen.

Show-up to do a basic physical, not the full turn-your-head a cough sort, just a typical height, weight, blood test, etc. To quality, you have to be in the normal weight range, not have high-blood pressure, be a non-smoker and no drugs can be in your system. That probably eliminates 90% of you, but for the rest of you...

    2) Two-weekends. Show-up on Friday night at 7:00p and leave Sunday at 8:00a. Repeat the following week. One week you take the generic drug. One week you take the commercial version.

I was sequestered with 23 other guys in a dorm room style environment. The meals both weekends were the EXACT same. They keep everything as close to the same as possible.

On Friday night, they take a blood test (I think). On Saturday morning, they take a blood test. They administer the drug. Then every hour on the exact minute, they take another blood test. Usually about 10 - 14 times in a study. Requirements vary though.

As long as you're not afraid of needles, it's no big deal. You get accustomed to having your blood drawn. It simply becomes an inconvienience.

    3) When your not having your blood drawn, you can do anything you want. Generally, everyone involved is a college student or in a similar stage of their life. Four guys I became friends with on one trip were simply saving money to go on a big golf trip together, and since it's such easy money, people go for different reasons.

All-in-all, you basically get to hang with a bunch of similar guys. Watch movies? Play video games? Play cards? Sleep? Do whatever you want. Pay is probably $1800 - 2200 for a study like this and the pay varies based on the the time requirements and frequency of blood draws. Keep in mind, you're not spending money for a solid two weekends, so it feels like a lot more when you get paid.

Everytime I've done this I've met people I really enjoyed hanging around with, and its inevitable that we went out to breakfast as a mass group.

Quick way to make a couple thousand for doing basically nothing. Because of the nature of what they do, the facilities tend to be top-notch as well. Very clean. Food is high quality. The nurses are very nice and your treated very well because the worst thing that can happen is a clinic gets a bad reputation and has problems filling its studies.

    I disagree:

"In the finals of Pro Tour Paris 1997, Long was playing Mark Justice. In one game, Long, piloting his Prosperous Bloom combo deck, faced a situation where he would lose unless he could win on his current turn. According to Mark Rosewater, in order to get his combo to go off, he needed to discard his sole copy of Drain Life, the only card in his deck capable of dealing damage and thus killing his opponent. After drawing a large number of cards with a large Prosperity, Long showed his hand to Justice to communicate that he had the game won and would only waste time going through the motions. As Justice did not know the exact contents of Long's deck, he was unaware that Long had discarded his only copy of Drain Life and thus had no way to win the game. Justice conceded the game and went on to lose the match."

I'm usually a nay-sayer when it comes to hyped cards, but I'm surprised so many feel he won't see constructed play.

First of all, he has seven loyalty. That's huge. That will severely limit the methods that can be used to get rid of him if he resolves. There will remain a few, such as Into the Roil, Maelstrom Pulse, Oblivion Ring, but if you're playing R/B, chances are, you've played quite a few other threats that your opponent has already had to deal with first, so getting rid of the new Sarkhan becomes that much more difficult.

Second. His basic ability is pretty good. Any card advantage in R/B is not going to be sneezed at, and if you're sifting lands off the top, even better.

Third, he could potentialy make three 5/5 dragons, and he has a lot of synergy with various strategies like unearth or goes to graveyard effects.

    Seems good to me.

The level-up mechanic seems pretty bad, but just like with past mechanics or synergies (i.e. Hivestone, Thrumming Stone, Mirror Gallery, Leonin Shikari), you can bet WotC will print a card that says 'You may pay level-up costs as an instant'.

Level-up might see play in other formats, I wouldn't expect it to find it's way into competitive environments.

I'm not sure in what world anyone would need to substitute for an uncommon. Even the best uncommons ever don't go for more than $3-4.00, and in most cases, people will give you uncommons for just about any rare.

How hard really isn't to find a playset of Path to Exile, or Volcanic Fallout, or Bloodbraid Elf. It's one thing to be poor, but if you're too poor to afford those, then you should probably just play Magic Workstation.

But I agree with Battlegrace Angel being a good replacement for Baneslayer Angel. I'd say 95% or more, Battlegrace won't hinder you from winning a game you otherwise might win if it were a Baneslayer.

    Other ideas...

You can replace Day of Judgement with Martial Coup.

Overall, I'm pretty neutral toward Eye of Ugin. It obviously is near useless in the vaccum of Zendikar, and it's hard to tell whether it will eventually be good or bad once the next set is out.

But what's funny is how many people have chosen a side. Even after a set is fully spoiled and reviewed, reviews for standard are always full of fallacy. Even when you have all the information it's near impossible to slot a card as good or bad.

Think of the mistakes made with Baneslayer Angel, Bloodchief Ascension, Master of the Wild Hunt, Eldrazi Monument.

But yet some are willing to praise or write-off Eye of Ugin with passion without even knowing 227 cards that are likely to influence it's ultimate value.

They're not going to do that. They've been ultra leery of printing any more free spelle effects, and thats more than favourably comparable to affinity in your example.

I will eat my hat if they print any Eldrazi you can cheat down for less than 3/4 mana, including the eye's effects.

Hasbro, Inc. and Wizards of the Coast are in the marketing and retail business. The number one goal is to sell sets and sell cards.

The best way to sell an older set once the hype for a new set comes out is to bury a very valuable card in a past set that plays nice with the newer one.

To speak in absolutes about something for which there is very little information is short-sighted. Who would have thought they would have bought old cards from the free-market and sorted them into a new set for resell?

Furthermore, WotC has a long history of bringing back things that no one has expected to see again.

Lightning Bolt was expected to be too good to ever see play in modern formats, but it came back, and while heavily played, it's fit in well.

Storm was a questionably broken mechanic at one time. They brought it back and Dragonstorm became tier-1 in the format for a short time but didn't ruin the format because they were careful to not print storm instants.

Affinity was very good in Standard, but it wasn't broken until mono-red goblins dropped out of the environment. When that happened, Affinity still wasn't broken because of cheating cards into play, it was broken because of Deciple of the Vault and the artifact lands, and before that, Skullclamp.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if WotC made another affinity push but altered it just slightly to be good, but not too good. Just like they did with the storm mechanic.

Instead of printing the 'affinity' mechanic on other cards, it looks like they have made a land that provides an affinity like mechanic. The fact that the land is 'legendary' and the cards must be 'Eldrazi' mean it's power will remain in check, and the cards that it propels into play won't be abusable in other formats.

That gives WotC the ability to push the Eldrazi affininty mechanic with a lot less risk, which would lead me to believe that whatever it is, it will be good, very good. And if I were to gamble, I'd say the eye will figure into the picture.

Just proves that people ain't reading the cards, or thinking critically.

It is a legendary land which does not tap for mana. It is simply not a relevant card.

I'm not trying to be offensive, but you're not really thinking critically.

On the surface, you have to question why WotC would have printed a legendary land that seems so irrelevant. It happens on occassion, but it is very rare and has become even more rare in recent years that WotC wastes a card slot on a throw-away card.

WotC also has a long history of forcing mechanics or themes. I.E. Affininity, Morph, Multi-color, Vampires, Allies, Graveyard Recussion, Hand Size, etc. The signs point to the next big thing being the 'eldrazi' push.

Obviously it's not a done deal that Eye of Ugin will ever be playable in a constructed environment, but let's say they print multiple one-drop and two-drop eldrazi artifact creatures, which I could see them doing.

    If I were to say:

First turn, Eye of Ugin, two-drop Eldrazi for free, two-drop Eldrazi for free, two-drop Eldrazi for free, one-drop Eldrazi for free, done, go.

Would you still say the card is irrelevant? There are still 247 cards yet to be spoiled, and 'eldrazi' creatures are likely to be a big part of the theme.

In my opinion, it's not even close.

Garruk the Wildspeaker is the best planeswalker. He makes big tokens. He can over-run. He can untap lands. He only costs 4 to cast, and if you use his untap land ability, you get two of that mana back. So assuming you can pay four, he only costs two.

And generally, he's so powerful, if you can run green at all, you play him. Like in Jund.

Why every single time soneone make a new deck that look remotely good someone start a topic named "XXX the new faeries?"

Three toughness creatures still die to doomblade/pulse/terminate/essence scatter/ANYTHING/leech. Same for the monument, which get destroyed by negate/pulse.

Great Sable Stag, Orien-Rief the Vastwood, Vines of the Vastwood, and bunch of tokens that don't really care if you kill them would beg to differ.

It's not an auto-win against Jund, but it's far from a picnic for Jund either, no matter how you tweak the Jund deck.

Control does not lose to mono-green Nissa, at least the majority of the time.

I agree, it loses to the other things you listed, (except for sometimes Boros Bushwhacker), but it doesn't lose to mono-green Nissa Monument. Keeping their threats off the field makes the Monument a super dead card. It's even worse than a dead card in that case.

    ;_;

No disrespect, but you haven't tested the matchup. If you have, you haven't tested it honestly.

The only two-for-one exchange for control is Day of Judgement, unless you try to run Planar Cleansing, which is too slow. Jace Beleren just isn't strong enough of a draw engine to make up for the relentless token generation.

Mono-Green Nissa recovers from wrath effects quite well, and if a Monument does hit the board, all the creatures become indestructable.

Control only has so many answers, and all of them are one-for-ones except for Day of Judgement and maybe Into the Roil.

But what happens is you pick your poison...

Counterspells? Too inefficient and too much luck involved because the only hard counter is Cancel.

Attack the planeswalkers with Oblivion Ring? There are 7-8 in the deck, and they've all made a creature by the time you ring.

Attack the creatures with Path to Exile or Into the Roil, one or more creatures replace them, and roil is only a temporary solution except to the tokens which you never want to roil anyways.

Use Day of Judgement? The judgement doesn't hit the planeswalkers and they re-invigorate the board with one or more creatures.

That's not to mention that there are problem cards in the deck for control, like Greater Sable Stag, which control has limited answers too, and a stag doesn't sound so threatening until it comes down with multiple counters on it due to Orien-Rief the Vastwood.

Seriously. Control has an answer to just about everything mono-green throws at it. The problem is....it doesn't have enough.

And if you build control to defeat green, it will roll over even worse to the rest of the meta. Control didn't make a strong showing in the Philly, Austin or Nashville, so it's virtually unplayable.

Seriously, every time a new deck tops it gets overhyped and is suddenly better then every deck currently in the meta and has a positive matchup against the most dominant deck so far...
Lets just wait and see, surprised theres no control in the top 8.

    Yes and No.

This is true for Boros Bushwacker. It surprised the field and was over-hyped, then the meta adjusted, and even though it remains popular I think Boros has turned out to be a mid-tier deck.

I don't think this will be true about the Mono-Green Nissa deck. It will be hyped, but if you playtest it I believe you'll find it will live up to that hype.

There's no control in the top-8 because control loses to everything. It loses to RDW, Boros Bushwacker, Mono-Green Nissa, and Jund. Control is unplayable right now.
