Wasn't one of the spoilers about the Tarkir block something to do with time travel?
"Origins" could simply be the name of one of the sets to release as part of the Tarkir block... the one where they travel back in time.
Brief baseless story speculation would go something like: Sarkhan Vol's story description on the wizard's site says his spark ignited when he had a vision of an dragon-spirit. Origins would have Sarkhan Vol time-traveling back to the origins of the creation of this dragon-spirit and maybe ties in the origin of the conflict between the clans.
There will actually be less product in standard at rotation. At rotation, a smaller percentage of the total number of cards in standard will rotate. With a standard that contains the expected large/small/small/core/large/small/small/core sets at rotation, there are roughly 1600 cards in the pool, 800 of them leave and 250 enter. With an expected large/small/large/small/large/small standard there will be about 1200 cards in the pool, 400 of them leave and 250 enter. Over the course of a year, the number of cards released will be roughly the same as before. So sets will rotate more often, but the number of cards you have to buy does not change. In fact, if anything, the number you have to buy should go down slightly since the extra large set or 2 per rotation will likely go away for a while. It is also possible that this saves you money in the long run due to skewed perception of the value of cards during their standard tenure causing speculators to dump faster into hype.
Hmm - I get what you're saying... but it kind of skirts the issue that someone concerned about faster rotation has doesn't it? Faster rotation means the cards they actually buy, are standard playable for less time. And in turn means they are buying more packs/boxes. Ultimately means to keep up, they're spending more per year than before. The total number of cards is not actually, directly related, is it?
How about speculatation on whether the Garruk story arc ties into Tarkir?
It just seems a waste me for it not to since a multi-color walker in a core set is a rarity.
Further speculation: Garruk attempts to kill Nicol Bolas, with the help of Sarkhan Vol. (Assuming Garruk can even be reasoned with to form a jagged alliance or sorts?) Sarkhan is wanting to break his servitude and bring dragons back to Tarkir, so Bolas is his obstacle. This would get Jace involved with the Tarkir story too if he follows Garruk. I think that to this point Nicol Bolas is such a powerful walker that you almost need something like Garruk, Apex Predator to harm him in some way/advance the Sarkhan servitude story.
Does not fit the name/number crunch.
I'd guess the remaining land is just Encroaching Wastes again or Evolving Wilds... if the thing that fits between Darksteel Citidel and Llanowar Wastes is a reprint.
I know it's their job to pretend to be excited about unexciting things, but could the at least try a little harder? If they wanted a card that accented Garruk's journey with the curse of the Chain Veil, wouldn't Liliana of the Veil be much more fitting?
Perhaps Garruk found a way to take the Veil chain... so he's corrupted by it and Liliana is back to normal?
I think Liliana Vess is one of the "reprint" cards who's number is greater than 269.
And then I think the actual Garruk card in M15 will be black only (surprising most), not black-green. Preserving their precedent of core sets having single-color walkers.

Seems like Garruk is pretty much confirmed to me... just without details of the card itself yet.
Haha!
Oh, OK... well not that then >.<
