Oct 19, 2017The Lifecrafter's Bestiary is mostly for the scry. It is also mostly for Jeskai, U/W Control, and other grindy control games like Lantern Control who have Path to Exile (I know lantern doesn't). It is admitted lower value against Jund where I probably wouldn't bring it in and should preferably have Hivelord in 1 of its places.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Oct 18, 2017I might need to try fast slivering.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I am looking at the new Simic Merfolk and it plays a lot like how Fast Slivers would. The issue for slivers is that we don't have the 12 cantrip spells that Simic Merfolk has to stay relevant past the first few turns, nor the countermagic or possibility for grindier stuff.
I am not sure about this. Maybe Smuggler's Copter instead of Vial and 2 more creatures like Frenetic Sliver or Darkheart Sliver.
Oct 18, 2017The G/U Merfolk lists remind me of what Slivers would be without CoCo and included Unclaimed Territory. Aggro all the time with some nice cantrips and card selection. It seems pretty good and I like the sideboard counter board and perhaps Lead/CoCo in the side.Posted in: Tier 2 (Modern)
It is probably pretty good in this meta.

My decks tended to play 3x Nykthos, at least one Joraga Warcaller, as well as Genesis Wave; but he does talk about taking advantage of Nykthos within his article so I thought it was worth discussing.
I think there is one missing card in the main deck. A flex position, I play Growing Rites, most people play Visionary, Scooze, or E-wit
Oct 17, 2017Looks like he is just relying on being faster or more resilant than burn ie. forcing burn to react to him than the other way around.Posted in: Developing Competitive (Modern)

Oct 17, 2017I am currently rocking I think a straight RG BuildPosted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
Oct 16, 2017I think I will be going something likePosted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
I think I will put some Ramanup Ruins, Scavenger Grounds, Hashep Oasis for Fetid Ruins somewhere in there.
Oct 16, 2017I have been doing a little online slivering. Not any tournaments because I still need practice to not go to time which I have done even in my practice games.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
There are just a lot of interactions that make it so we can't just speed through turns. Here I am just griping about MTGO at the moment.
I haven't faced a lot of top decks. Storm was a loss unless we can get enough threats or vial and back it up with Warping Wail if they go for it. We need to force them to go for it or Warping Wail will have little effect even if we blow up the dork.

This is what I was thinking of.
I am thinking a Naya Version might want more ramp with fertile ground to hit cards like Gishath Sun's Avatar, Verdant Sun's Avatar, and Wakening Sun's Avatar. It might also Fiery Justice as its main kill spell outside a couple of paths so it can ping Ranging Raptors and Ripjaw Raptors. Obviously no Blood Moon in the Naya list. Maybe Fertile Ground though to help ramp up to those cards.
Oct 13, 2017Question: I am thinking of Dino Tribal in modern.Posted in: Developing Competitive (Modern)
I think an Arbor Elf/Utopia Sprawl is probably the best mana acceleration for Dino modern like Devotion. I think RG or Naya is the way to go with RG leaning due to being able to play Blood Moon.
Would this be a good place to discuss modern dinos in an arbor elf/utopia sprawl shell?
Oct 9, 2017Naya might be cool, but with RG you can run Blood Moon in a Ponza like shell with Arbor Elf/Utopia Sprawl.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Naya does get to run Fiery Justice which is fantastic with Ranging Raptors and Ripjaw Raptors.
Gishath might also be a good inclusion to go larger and get a wider board state.
I am thinking Naya Ramp might be the way to go rather than a Dino Ponza-esque Plan. However, I think Green Devotion or Tooth and Nail lists are to start with the ramp plan. We really really need to ramp up.
Sep 28, 2017I think Unclaimed Territory goes into a different deck than the current CoCo/Vial deck.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I am thinking you might want to drop CoCo all together and rely more on Small Slivers and Vial for a straight up stompy/aggro plan ala pauper slivers or legacy all-in slivers. Sedge Sliver is a house, but I wouldn't play him while also playing Unclaimed Territory. Mutavault is too valuable to give up as well are chances for the forest and swamp in the current lists.
I think if you want to play with Unclaimed Territory you should take inspriation from the All-In Legacy Sliver lists, the Pauper Sliver lists, and the Modern Fast Sliver lists. They are all viable, but have clear weaknesses which might make it worse for competitive modern play that the current Sedge Sliver lists can work around.
Sedge Sliver lists can grind better than these lists. The classic Aggressive lists can be better though against minimum disruption lists and other aggro lists. Losing CoCo hurts against our explosiveness, combat tricks, and recovery. Fast Lists though are better and more consistant at goldfishing turn 3-5 wins, but have worse recovery. The more non-sliver spells you add such as Vial, Dismember, Warping Wail, the less concentration of slivers you will have when you draw. Its a trade off.
I am not sure its worth it, but in the last few pages there were lists and look at them, improve them, play with them, and see what happens. I eagerly await testing.
