Aug 15, 2017Forgotten One posted a message on MTG Salvation Deck Builder Coming SoonI'm starting to think that this was an April Fool's joke.... the cake is a lie.Posted in: Articles
In all seriousness, I had just opened up a TO account with the intention of putting all my decks there when this announcement came out. I held off doing anything with the hopes of just keeping everything here on MTGS. 4-1/2 months since the announcement, we don't even have any information about what is going on. Even bad news would be better than no news at this point. -

There are no limits set for sigs.
The sig editor is telling me there is a 512 character limit, so it won't let me "fix" the mana tags in my signature. Furthermore, it must also be counting the url in each link as part of the character limit. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Sorcery - Trap
If the opponent countered a spell this turn, you may pay XXR rather than this spell's mana cost.
Creatures you control gain Annihilator X until end of turn.
Legendary Creature - Human Artificer
If you would get one or more , you get that much plus one instead.
URG, : Double the number of energy counters you have.
2/4
Next - A legendary character that would some from the aftermath of Hour of Devastation on Amonkhet.
Artifact
: Add
, sacrifice any number of artifacts: Create a colorless X/X Myr artifact creature token where X is the number of artifacts sacrificed this way.
Next - Lyzolda, the Blood Witch
It's not very good and it's not commonly played. You would have to have so many things go right in order to pull this off that it would be unrealistic to think that this is the true ceiling of this card. I will say that even without controlling an opponent's turn, you can still set up the top of your deck fairly easy with commonly played cards and get a really solid 5 cards on top that will give many players the fits when they try to split them. You won't necessarily get off some uber-combo, but you can get some really good value. Making it worth the effort (manipulating the top of your deck, drawing the Ultimatum, then coming up with that exact mana) is the hard part, as that is a lot of hoops to jump through.
Of course, this is all a moot point if you are playing a "Choose Wisely" deck with Brilliant Ultimatum, Fact or Fiction, Fortune's Favor, Jace, Architect of Thought, Boneyard Parley, Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign, Sphinx of Uthuun, Do or Die, Truth or Tale, Liliana of the Veil, Council's Judgment, Expropriate, Plea for Power, Phyrexian Portal, or any card that involves the opponent making a choice... sounds like a fun theme for a Sen Triplets deck.
The other way to go is to put those cards into the maindeck and run Ezuri, Claw of Progress as others have suggested. As the Commander, you basically get more 'bang for the buck' so to speak for your investment on the battlefield when Ezuri pumps your guys, therefore you have to commit less to the board in order to still have a large board presence.
As for mass-Trample, Kamahl, Fist of Krosa is on-theme, Craterhoof Behemoth is probably the best ever, Ezuri, Renegade Leader will pump a large portion of your army that is Elvish (there is a lot of overlap between Druids and Elves), and good old Brawn in the graveyard does wonders (pun intended).
Legendary Land - Elder Realm
Elders you control are Indestructible.
: Add for each Realm you control.
Legendary Creature - Human Knight
First Strike
Eminence - Whenever you cast a Knight spell, if Aemon Targaryen is on the battlefield or in the Command zone, choose a color. Create an emblem with “Your devotion to the chosen color is increased by one.”
Whenever a Knight enters the battlefield, gain life equal to your devotion to white.
Whenever a Knight dies, each opponent loses life equal to your devotion to black.

Next - three more tribal generals to go.
Deathpact Angel Cleric tokens are pretty wordy (15 words), but cards like Rite of Belzenlok (19 words), Reef Worm (23 words), Gutter Grime (17 words), and Nesting Dragon (22 words) all create tokens that are wordier. None of them have more words than Rekindling Phoenix (29 words), so I think it takes the crown on this piece of little trivia.
I've never seen Rekindling Phoenix in action on an EDH table, but it doesn't seem so bad. Given enough creature ETB/LTB triggers (Purphoros, God of the Forge, Vicious Shadows, etc.) I can see this doing some damage over the course of a few turns.
The one deck that was un-salvageable was my Gran Arbiter Agustin IV "Tax Everything" deck (list can be found here), which was far from "perfect" but it was well on its way to being the kind of deck that I envisioned. The only problem was that the deck I envisioned didn't play out the way I envisioned...
Some cards that I really like in my list that I think would be a good fit in your list are some of the following:
Bloodghast, Nether Traitor - I like to have some cheap cards that can self-recur and I have found that these two are the best. Bloodsoaked Champion is also pretty good.
Priest of Forgotten Gods - This is a fairly new card that I have been absolutely loving in this deck. It's so cheap and generates so much value that its become one of my favorite cards to see early in the game.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed - One of the best recursion engines available, and since you aren't running Triskelion there is no danger of going infinite. However, you do have a ton of EtB abilities that would be amazing to double up on on top of getting two shots at sacrificing each non-token creature.
Death Cloud, Eliminate the Competition - I'm amazed that this deck runs zero instants/sorceries and even more amazed that you don't run some form of mass board wipe. Both of these cards take advantage of you having plenty of creatures that you are willing to sacrifice while leaving other key creatures alone.
Spawning Pit - I like your suite of sac outlets, but I think you should also consider Spawning Pit. It's free to use when you need to sac something, taking all those Thrulls and turning them into 2/2 creatures to feed your sac outlets again is very very satisfying.
I also don't run discard effects in my build, but if I did I would probably be running Tar Fiend.
Good luck with the deck and happy Thrull breeding...
Legendary Creature - Cat Demon Wizard
Imprint - When Feyomsi enters the battlefield, exile any number of cards in your graveyard.
XUB: Play an instant or sorcery exiled with Feyomsi with converted mana cost X or less without paying its mana cost.
XBG: Play a creature exiled with Feyomsi with converted mana cost X or less without paying its mana cost.
UG: Play a land exiled with Feyomsi.
2/3
"Death and renewal are the natural order of things. We just help speed up the process."
Next - Someone worthy of leading an army in the Jeskai Way.
Creature - Human Knight
Vigilance, First Strike when attacking
Activated abilities of white permanents you control cost less to use.
2/2
Next - Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch
What I don’t understand is why would you want to advocate for Planeswalker Commanders and tie it to a starting life total change and bringing back the BaaC list. Just allowing Planeswalkers in the Command zone is a big enough change to contemplate, so why complicate the situation even more?
There would be no contradiction between that rule and the 100-card deck rule. Cards outside the game are not in your deck. Bringing a card from outside the game with a Wish doesn't make your deck illegal all of the sudden.
Anyway, I have also worked on a potential Glittering Wish stack for my Ghave, Guru of Spores +1/+1 counter deck.
