I mean, fugs has posted a little bit, but...his posts have basically been "I don't have enough information", with no efforts to actually obtain that information by disturbing the waters and making some noise.

This was moreso my point, should have been more clear

I know I didn't chime in much yesterday, but since reading through what's transpired since, it's certainly strange that fug maintains his silence.

Supreme Verdict has a lot to do with it I think. The fact that it can play 4x Spreading Seas ad 4x Tec Edge/Ghost Quarter while not messing with it's own mana is also great.

@AudioTsunami: Since you've shown that you are present, what are your thoughts on things at the moment? (Just a general idea will suffice, I'm not looking for a detailed analysis of the entire thread from you yet.)

@JulsSkogs: Okay. But if you were voting for Lurker because you misread the thread, and you acknowledge that, why do you still have the vote up for Lurker? If you have other reasoning for wanting to vote him up, I'd love to hear it, but otherwise you probably would want to unvote for the time being if you don't have anyone else you feel strongly enough on to try and put up.

@Mograppler: Yeah, even in a role-heavy game, a no-lynch day 1 wouldn't necessarily be wise (depends on the specifics of the setup, whether it's open or not, etc). Also, as a note, you've been misspelling Skogs's name - it's JulsSkogs, not JolsSkogs.

@Bloodmoon0324: L-X is shorthand for saying 'X votes from lynch'. So if the lynch threshold is 7, L-2 is 5 votes, L-1 would be 6 votes, etc.

I was actually gonna ask, do i just switch votes by posting exactly how i did for my first vote or is there like an "unvote" syntax that i have to do before i vote again

Eff me forgot to reply to the second part of that quote.

@BluesEclipse: I misread the thread when skimming back through to see who built the wagon and who jumped on it

Characters are flavor. Sometimes flavor has an impact on mechanics; sometimes it doesn't. It wouldn't surprise me if, say, the Town Cop (a role that can read the factional alignment of a targeted player once per night) were given the Sen Triplets character, an Alaran legendary creature that can read the cards in a player's hand.

It also provides a bit of fuel for the early "Random Voting Stage" that happens at the beginning of a Mafia game, which is why I was using my Kresh character as an excuse to vote against Elesh Norn, for example.

Sooo, if you agree that Mystic's actions are "strange", you wanna help us out in building up his wagon? He's at 3 votes and it requires 7 to lynch him, so putting him at 4 votes by adding your own would be a good amount of pressure to force him to stop lurking and start defending himself.

(There are lots of different arguments that can be made regarding the right size for a pressure wagon, but my rule of thumb is "L-M, where L is the number needed to lynch and M is the number of Mafia in the game". Since this is a 12 player game, there are probably 3 Mafia, so with 7 to lynch I'm comfortable at 7-3 = 4 votes for a pressure wagon.)

Oh alright, I guess I thought they were a far bigger deal than they are

@fuggingolli***: There are actually several issues with trying to roleplay based on the characters given. As was already mentioned, the problem exists that the game is about trying to get a read on the other players, and a focus on staying in-character doesn't necessarily help that. There's also the fact that we don't know what all of the characters are that were assigned, so we have no way of being certain whether or not a person is being honest about their assigned character role. Plus, not everyone is going to get a role that has a defined personality to roleplay, or has enough story-related information to really assign an affiliation to. But the biggest issue is simply that the mod is not always going to assign roles based on expectations - it's the main reason why we don't ask for a mass role claim and be done with it. The flavor is there mainly so that the mod can actually put a bit of personality into explaining the night kills and such, should they so choose.

If you're interested, though, I am Thraximundar - and I am town, despite the expectation of a murderous Grixis zombie knight to be evil.

Regarding your vote, what is it that's making you see Nago as scum? So far, he hasn't given any real scumtells that I've picked up on. (If anyone else wants to chime in on this, feel free to do so as well.)

@Folza: It's been mentioned repeatedly, but is worth restating - choosing to stay 'neutral' and not posting is simply hindering the town, as you're not giving us any information to work with, whether in trying to clear you as town, or helping us identify others from their reactions to your posts. Very troublesome. And you're saying you can't get a read on anyone except those who have posted less than you have... I'm finding it hard to believe that, considering the amount of information at your disposal thus far. At the very least, you should be able to have a read on myself, Lurker, and Nago, along with possibly Mog and Bloodmoon. The fact that you're suggesting otherwise worries me...

FOS: Folza - Given my earlier rainbow wall, though, this shouldn't really be surprising to anyone. (For the newbies, this means 'Finger of Suspicion' - basically saying that while I'm not voting you ATM, I'm still reading you as scum at this point, but have reasons for my vote being elsewhere.)

@JulsSkogs: I'm curious as well to exactly what wagon you think EL jumped on - could you please elaborate? Also, as for direction on what the purpose of given characters are, that's what the actual roles (Town Vanilla, Town Cop, Mafia Goon, etc) are for. The flavor roles (Kresh, Thraximundar, Uril, etc) are there more to give the game a bit of personality. The best example that I've found of this is the Disgaea Mafia that was run here back in 2009. The players didn't interact in character, but the mod used the flavor of the characters and world to build the scenes for lynches and revealing nightkills.

@EternalLurker: I can see what you're suggesting (did a quick reread on Sunray's few posts), and understand where you're coming from. And Sunray's another example of 'active on the forums, not on the thread' (last active 9 hours ago), so I can easily support calling him out for more info. That said...

    Unvote, Vote: MysticSunray

He may wind up replacing out (Wheat mentioned he was prodded, and he hasn't posted since then), but even then we can get some info from his replacement. I am going to still FOS: JulsSkogs because at the very least, I intend to try and get more from him at a later date.

@Mograppler: The worst case scenario is that Sunray is town, and scum decide to quickhammer him at L-3 or L-2 - if that's the case, though, they're pretty much holding up giant signs at that point saying 'Hey, I'm scum, come lynch me!'. I've generally seen the pressure point as L-2, myself. And I do agree that we don't necessarily want the day to end right away, without hearing from our inactives or their replacements, but we still want some pressure on Sunray.

@MysticSunray: At this point, 'sitting this one out' isn't doing you or your faction any favors, regardless of which side you're on. Anything to say?

@Wheat_Grinder: Status on those prodded, and votecount, please? Thanks.

So I think I've finally given up on Jeskai for a bit. I tried Nassif's article list a couple of weeks ago and loved it, and have now sleeved up Benny's list (with very minor tweaks to the lands). For the past like two and a half years I've been basically the only UWx player at my shop, but UW is starting to pop up more and more, so I'm looking a bit to find a nice mirror breaker since I don't want to just bank on leveraging my experience with the archetype. Anyone have any suggestions?

I hope that in the later stages of this game there is more role-playing. We were all given characters, we should be using them.
There was no indication in the opening post that we should be speaking in character, so no one's done so. I was just doing so as a joke.

Some Mafia games do indeed want people to roleplay, but unless the mod specifies it, there's no need.

The main problem with roleplaying (beyond the early-voting stage where people are just joking around) is that no one can get a read on you, only on your character. And Mafia is all about trying to get reads on people.

We definitely should have had something more as far as direction on what the purpose of given characters are.

folzastill being neutral on all fronts seems very suspicious to me. Not wanting to take sides is not giving us information.

JolsSkogs on the other hand has given us lots of information. Which is why I am feeling scum from him too. Very quick to call out EL. Yes he is quick to accuse, but he started the accusing, he did not jump on any bandwagon.

@fuggingolli***: I would have no idea how to roleplay my character. I am not very knowledgable in the story of mtg. Especially not from
    Alara.

I also don't think we have heard from mysticin a while.

Admittedly, i was very quick to be called out so

You haven't heard from Mystic because [url=http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/community-forums/mafia/779230-maelstrom-of-alara-mafia-91-day-1-a-short-fuse?comment=47}he explicitly said he wasn't gonna post for a while[/url], as soon as he was rightfully accused of acting scummy. Just read post #40 to #47 and you should immediately see why everyone should be wagonning the crap out of Mystic.

yes that was rather strange wasn't it

I've done the subscribe thing multiple times now, just doesn't seem to want to "stick" for some reason :/

And yeah, as someone who's literal only experience with this game has been this thread, I'm trying to just get to grips with everything, it's a fairly overwhelming experience honestly. So sorry for not meeting your expectations, but damn do I feel persecuted for being new and having things to do that warrant my attention more than a forum game.

The issue I have with a Jeskai Geist shell, at the moment, is the horrific match-up against Eldrazi Tron.

We may want to do as other UWx shells increasingly are doing: mainboard 3-4 Spreading Seas.

Have done it, feels great. T2 Seas into T3 Geist is close to game over. I also will play 4 Seas in the sideboard if I don't play them in the main.
