I've got the same problem with this that I had with the previous reprints from Conspiracy 1. Reprints that actually name places/people/things from other planes completely unrelated to Fiora kill the flavor in what was stated by Wizards to be a set where flavor is a centerpiece. It's completely counterproductive to print this here and not in Eternal Masters as a replacement for one of the many trhrow away reprints in that set.

At least it's good for people who wanted a reprint and don't mind the rarity increase.

I'm happy it wasn't in EMA since that is a limited print run set - even if it were an uncommon in EMA, I think it's still better for it to be here. Where it should have been reprinted is OGW.
Agreed as this doesn't have a limited print run set. But then there's the question of why not both?

I love it how when things don't get reprinted and people are mad, and then when they get reprinted, people are still mad and call it a moneygrab.

Anyway, it's an amazing reprint, which gives me hope that this set will have more quality reprints to offers, just like its predecessor.

Of course it's a money grab. We're just out of 2 blocks that spam us with Eldrazi, and they reprint one of the most sought-after eldrazi cards in a supplemental product completely unrelated to these blocks.
Well, IoK was in the pipeline for the BFZ block, but it was removed for developmental concerns. It also didn't fit the theme of "Eldrazi are exiling everything", meaning it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
Except that was more of Ulamog's thing while Kozilek was all about the "waste" mana. You totally could have put Inquisition into Oath without any flavor fails. Clearly though this is an upshift of rarity based off of value. Overall that's a terrible reason outside of the "Masters" sets. At least the big money cards in those have a history of being powerful and I feel there's a discussion for those sets.

Overall does this bother me? Not really as looking at the first conspiracy set there was good value overall and it helped drop prices on a lot of cards. I just hope they don't do this to all the possible commons and uncommons and create Conspiracy with MM-2015 problems...

Woah, what are they thinking with this new set? A green draw engine for 1G? Blue doesn't even get card draw this good. And since when does green lose life for effects? Makes no sense. Should be like double the cost and black.

This set is all reprints. Sylvan Library is from one of the oldest expansions, Legends, before the color wheel was really well developed.

I feel that his post was filled with sarcasm...

I said this back in August, but I'm betting that the Green mythics are Berserk and Channel. Both powerful cards, both have a huge history and one of them needs a reprint of some sorts.

It's an amusing idea to think of Magic players in general as having the backbone and determination to resist purchasing product collectively.

I'd believe in flying elephants first.

Well, I admit it would be a Mighty Leap... Smile

EDIT: On the Voice of Resurgence topic, wasn't it changed as a result of being shifted to mythic after Emmara Tandris got changed? (Rather than being shifted to mythic after being changed to very powerful?) My impression was that a similar to Voice but splashier ability was on Emmara, but she got switched to rare and had to be changed. (Which itself is a whole can of worms, but I digress...) You can see it in the art o her background, the Elemental Voice makes.
This is correct. Voice's ability was originally on Emmara Tandris. But they shifted it to Voice. It wasn't exactly the same but it was a similar ability if I remember the article correctly.

Pretty sure the "Craptastic Mythic" (in terms of value) is going to be Channel. No evidence, but that card is pretty nuts and I can't see it not being part of this set.

If Channel is the worst Mythic rare we get, alongside some similar cards, I really wouldn't mind that. Sure, the value would suck to pull, but at least the card is powerful, iconic in some degree, and a truly "Eternal" card.

Most of my interest in this set currently lies in the common and uncommon distributions. That and average rare/mythic usefulness are two of the main criteria I personally use for assessing whether or not a set is worthwhile, and with the number of powerful commons and uncommons that can and should be printed here without a rarity upshift, I am eager to see which cards they deem acceptable for this set.

Yeah, this is why I'm thinking it's going to be one of the Green Mythics. It fits strength and wow factor, and helps even out the average mythic price. We all know that they aren't all going to be big money cards, so I'm just being realistic.

    4. Wizards likes planeswalkers and I would be shocked if we don't get two in this set. It is highly unlikely we don't get two of JtMS, LotV, and Dack. They might screw us with Elspeth Knight Errant again but even they aren't that mean.

Ha. Good one. We're talking about the same people who gave us Comet Storm in the last $10 MSRP booster.

How is Awaken a kicker variant? It's not an additional cost, it's an ALTERNATE cost in the flavor of Overload.

Sheer Drop could have been written as:
    2W
    Kicker 3
    Destroy target tapped creature.
If Sheer Drop was kicked, also put 3 +1/+1 counters on target land you control and it becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature with haste.

Just like Mizzium Mortars is functionally the same as:
    1R
    Kicker 2RR
Deal 4 damage to target creature you don't control.
If Mizzium Mortars was kicked, it also deals 4 damage to each other creature that you don't control.

Except that kicker doesn't work the same way as Overload or Awaken. Kicker is an additional cost, meaning that if you cheat the spell or play it in a different way, you still get to do the kicker. While Overload and Awaken are alternate costs. Why is this important, well I can't flashback Mizzium Mortars and pay its Overload cost instead. I also can't choose to play it through Omniscience and only pay a little extra to get the full effect. There are several interactions where kicker still works (such as rebounding a spell) that you cannot do these type of effects with.

I think you just nailed why Awaken is worded the way it is I'm not saying it's broken with the narsets but it could lead to some funky issues. Question: if you use Jace's -3 you can cast for the awaken cost yes?

Based off the current wording we have for Awaken, I would say yes tentatively. The reason why I say this is we don't know what the technical wording of it is aside from its reminder text. If Awaken by the official rules says something similar to "You may cast this spell from your hand for its Awaken cost" then this would be a no.

Where are some images at toucharcade I didnt see in any of the linked articles.
Judging by the pictures, it looks more akin to the original Puzzle Quest, where you level up a specific character, get new spells, etc. Which is a good thing as it will keep it separate from their Marvel variant.

Oh no. I spent waaaay too much time on their Marvel version. I'm doomed!
Do you still play by chance?

Hopefully this will have a similar system to the Marvel: Puzzle Quest. I play that a ton, but that means this is just going to eat more of my time up :/

this card is awful... bad in constructed, bad in limited.

but I find it funny how it makes Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh absolutely impossible to flip.

Nitpicking, but I can always target myself to flip her...

    A) I dunno, because they are together? What's wrong with kids being happy?

    B) Well, it's not as if they could die or anything.

    A) Well, becoming a spirit in the first place generally implies that something's still holding you in the realm of the living, usually some kind of grudge or restlessness. The flavor text also implies that they most likely did not die a natural death. So yeah, it's a bit strange for them to be happy...

    B) In Magic, they can. Just throw a Murder at them and kill them. A second time. Yes, this card is quite amusing.

    A) The white spirits are benevolent ones that protect those they hold dear even in the afterlife. The black and sometimes blue ones are those holding a grudge.

    B) We are talking about flavour. You can't murder a ghost.

You obviously haven't seen the Frighteners.

Looking at the art, it seems more in flavor with Innistrad than any other plane.
