Switching over to KMC Hyper Mattes and Perfect Fits after using Dragonshield for a few years. What is the best place to purchase them? My LGS is overpriced at $10 for the sleeves and $8 for the perfect fits, so that's not really an option. I need about 400 of each.

    Go to:
potomacdist.com and order in bulk is what I did. It will save you a lot in the long run.

I think I would probably just sleeve it in a KMC Perfect Fit and call it a day.

Question for others in the thread:

Does anyone use Dragon Shield Mattes and if so, have you noticed a difference in the shuffle-ability of the early runs compared to more recent ones?

It seems to be that the first couple boxes I bought (1 blue, 1 black) shuffle beautifully with little resistance, and they double sleeve well. More recent batches, purchased at GP DC and a couple weeks before are noticeably tighter and don't double sleeve as well, and they also are much more difficult to shuffle.

I was just curious as to whether anyone else has noticed anything like this. The most recent couple boxes are really putting me off of them and I am strongly considering going back to Hyper Mattes exclusively.

Just popping in to mention that I played at GPDC, 0-3 drop...lol. Won some games, never could close a match. We had a bit of a rough pool, basically 0 bombs and not really any good removal. I played BW Allies which felt great, the creatures were excellent but lack of great removal made things challenging. Our second deck was RB Eldrazi Aggro and the third was RGc Beatz and was probably the weakest deck. Unfortunately I think we wasted all of our luck on our practice pool Friday night. In that pool we had a mono white allies deck with tons of removal including 3x Isolation Zone and a Quarantine Field from what I remember, and a super solid UB Eldrazi Aggro build. Oh well, had fun either way, got to get some more Terese Nielsen signatures among others, and bought some prints from her. Traded some cards in with SCG and I am only 5 cards from having Modern Merfolk finished. All and all it was great, loved playing with my team even if things didn't go according to plan...lol

Has anyone else had an issue getting their bonus points from this promotion they are doing? I signed up and I still have not received my points. I put in a ticket and got an email response basically saying they would get back to me soon, and that has been a couple days ago with no response. Is there a better way to go about this that I am not aware of or should I just submit another email?

Does anyone know when the GP websites generally go up? I'm looking to get info about GP DC, GP Charlotte, and GP NYC (mostly what artists are going to be there), but there's precious little info out there other than dates and DC is less than two months away.

SCG just out up the DC site this weekend. I had been waiting on info as well and they finally put it up. Check the SCG site for that one. Charlotte probably won't go up until after DC is over as SCG is running it too and they probably want to keep the focus on one at a time. I am planning to be at both, I didn't know you were from the east coast...lol

Set in on the table and push down on it carefully with two hands so that the cards don't bow and try to push some air out of them. Additionally, store them in a box that they fill snugly as they will be forced to compress slightly and push out more air. This is what I do personally and I have never had any issue.

I only needed a few cards to switch to the GB version and I had been checking out the MOCS lists on MTGGoldfish for a few days because they felt like they may have had legs. Tom's article reaffirming that made it worth it for me to give it a try. Worst case scenario is that I don't like it and go back to UG.

And we have a Wasteland expedition. With so many foils out there, why are these things still sitting so high, I wonder?

I think the art being unpopular on many of the reprints certainly plays into it. I have heard the comparisons myself and I think it is the MPR foil that is the only one favored aside from the original. I think this reprint may make a larger dent than past reprints though being in a booster product.

the old dshields are a dirt magnet coz of the glossy back. haven't encountered any dirt issue with the mattes yet. and imo, they shuffle better than hypers

This is more or less my experience as well, I have a set of Turquoise Dragon Shields on one of my Commander decks and now that they are old enough to have picked up some dirt, they are a pain to shuffle and stick together and generally feel grimy, and I always keep my hands as clean as possible when handling my decks. KMC Supers that I have owned suffer from the same problems, and I have moved away from them as well. I have yet to have a Matte sleeve, either KMC or Dragon Shield, gather a bunch of grime and as mentioned, they shuffle incredibly well.

I mean it seems like a reasonable request to ask for a scan of the back also, even if the picture of the front was high res. My first thought when reading his response about sending a stock photo because it is NM is that the back likely is NOT NM. I could be totally wrong, but that was definitely my first impression, either way, this is a pretty sad response from a seller.

Anyone else here have issues with KMC Hyper Mats splitting easily? I just got into MTG and heard that KMC Hyper mats were the ***** so I decided to check them out. I got them last week, and they are amazing to shuffle but I had one of them split on me pretty fast. (Although I’m a bit to blame for that since I wasn’t paying attention and ended up mash shuffling on the opening end) I was a bit surpised about this so I decided to grab one of my extra sleeves and try to see how much force it would take to tear it, and it took almost no force at all. It split almost as soon as I pulled on it the slightest. I’m sure they’ll be fine, but I was kinda expecting them to handle a bit more than that, seeing how everyone seems to love them.

It is a bit subjective I guess because I find pretty much any sleeve that isn't an original Dragon Shield fairly easy to split, and even those seem to get easier to split as they get some play wear to them. I have split exactly one KMC Hyper Matte, and it was the same situation as you mentioned, I was more to blame for how I was shuffling that the sleeve itself was for failing. I wouldn't worry any about them, they are still high quality sleeves and miles and miles ahead of the durability of something like a basic Ultra Pro sleeve.

I am finally making a modern deck, and it's infect. Trying to foil it out too. Been a neat task. I have the cards for the legacy version too, which is a bonus I guess.

Anyone get some sweet black friday deals?

You strike me as more of a control player. What made you choose infect? Purely curious Smile

I usually am a control player. I played Miracles and Thopterbalance for quite some time and lands is my deck of choice.

Not really sure. Maybe because I'm not a fan of the blue cantrips and whatnot that I don't think I'd enjoy playing delver/twin, and the fact I could port it to legacy was a bonus.

This is exactly why I want to finish up Modern Merfolk too, because I already have the cards to port it to Legacy as I do with Infect. That is definitely a nice perk, especially since I may be doing some liquidation soon.

Just to throw it out there, my first pack of DS mattes were blues and the double sleeving was incredibly easy, however I picked up a box of green this weekend and it was an incredibly tight fit to get the card with the Perfect Fit into them. It still worked, but was much more difficult. I imagine this is just an outlier but I figured I would share the experience nonetheless.
