After the combo heavy decks taking down OKC, am I right to assume that aggressive decks will make a come back to answer them? I mainly play on MTGO, so I’m gonna tune my sideboard for burn and affinity, as well as prep for the combo decks that have come out on top. Is this the right read of the meta? How does this sb look?:
Hi. I’m fairly new to the archetype and was wondering if there was a guide to what cards are bad in the mainboard against what match ups and the reasons for why certain cards are in sb? I don’t want a straight swapping guide because it won’t help me learn the deck as well. I wanna know why each card works and when. Thank you.
To everyone asking about GW with Renegade Rallier, I've been doing some testing. I have made a GW Eldrazi Taxes deck with it and it's been awesome. I currently have 18 enablers for it, and when you get the combos off, you feel strong. Since I'm running Eldrazi, you may be asking why don't I just run Bant Eldrazi? Not my style, and I think this deck can answer the upcoming meta. With Fatal Push in and Probe out, linear Aggro decks are going to drop off for more Midrange decks. This will increase the number of fetchlands. Also, people will play Tron and Lock decks to fight it. GW is poised to answer those decks, and Renegade Rallier helps.
I don't think this card moves the needle for Taxes all that much. Almost none of the creatures commonly employed by Taxes were Bolt-proof to begin with, and the cards that Fatal Push will likely substitute kill Taxes creatures pretty much the same way. It's just business as usual around here, with the possible exception being that matchups like Dimir, Esper, and Sultai may be more common (and less of a walkover).
couldn't agree more. i dont think the sky is falling, it's just a little stormy outside. this is a tough deck, with plenty of interaction. i don't think we need to be shaking in our boots, like infect and zooicide
From my testing, the main thing that has hurt is now they have a 1 mana answer to Thought-Knot Seer. With that being one of our best cards, it hurts that they can kill it so efficiently without running white and giving us a land.
After playing with Rallier is so much fun. Double Ghost Quartering someone with an Arbiter out is just too good. Also good to get Vials back that were hand disrupted or getting back an Arbiter that was Fatal Pushed.
Does this Deck get worse now that Fatal Push has been made?
The card itself doesn't (reliably) kill as much in our deck as Bolt does so Fatal Push isn't necessarily anti-D&T tech.
Good black removal will definitely improve other decks but it's tough to say if that strengthens enough other decks in the meta to the point where D&T becomes a worse deck.
Heck, if we're lucky it could make greedy manabase tricolor decks even more popular to the point where our GQs cancel out the improved black removal. Dust off your Mindcensors, boys!
Our Ghost Quarters turn this on though. Also blinking things with Displacer and Wisp. Bolt doesn't kill TKS, this does.
2x Burrenton Forge-Tender
2x Sin Collector
3x Stony Silence
2x Rest In Peace
1x Grafdigger’s Cage
1x Anguished Unmaking
2x Orzhov Pontiff
2x Fatal Push
Here is my list (SB still being worked on, gotta wait till ban list takes effect): https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/540843#online
