I hate that we get entirely new cards off a list of cars that will appear infrequently in booster. Doesn't that make them even rarer than regular mythic? More expensive stuff, especially if they all are as good and playable as the ones previewed. (Probably not.) I dislike the new-flash frame: it hides the color identity of the cards. At least the wanted frame has some semblance of colors on it to help out. The big score frame looks really good.

I'm not a fan of the lands. The plains and forest are OK. The swamp is ugly; the island does not look like an island and the water does goofy sprouts; the mountain are floating rocks and muddy, with its foreground being the same as its background.

I don't like UB, so this set is not for me, but I'd still find the art ugly even if it were a regular set.

Is it just me, or are sets beginning to look like video games with seasonal skins? Like it's all just a costume party for characters.

Yes, it is you. All you want is to spectacle these poor people fighting each other to the death for some macguffin for your entertainment when all they want is to hang together and have a good time. Shame on you.

Well, Gonti is there because most of the cast in the junction set are automaton from Kaladesh that have gone awry...

i fail to see how pointing out missed trigger would be considered douche. intentionaly witholdig information about trigger your opponent missed is also infraction so there is no incentive to do so.

You misunderfstood what I meant: the bad part was that an opponent would claim you cannot cast the spell out of suspend because you passed the final counter removal. As in you say "upkeep, draw" but before you actually draw you realize you forgot to remove the counter and cast the spell and your opponent says "too bad, new rule says casting is optional, so you did not."

I say this because I've had multiple experience with such players.

I think StP reproduces an iconic photographs, but I'm not a good enough art historian to remember what it would be or if I'm completely off-rail.

It is all about how a judge would rule at which point in time to roll back the game. I think most people would have assumed that the spells would simply fizzle, as spell usually do when their target become invalid. It must be something subtle in the exact order things get done when casting spells that creates this scenarios only for spells coming off suspend with a target that becomes invalid due to the fact the spell is being cast.

IOW, they could have instead just added rules about suspend or do a small tweak to the casting spell sequence. On the upside, there might be cases where you actively don't want to cast your spell, like a rift bolt that would have no valid target except yourself. Still extremely narrow.

That's a useful side use in case of a Wrath effect, but hardly breaks the card. You can have all your creatures survive a Wrath for 2 or 3 mana, so this saving half of your creatures for 4 mana is nothing too exciting.

Well, yeah I had misunderstood the card due to the fact it uses "whenever" and not "instead". As I understand it, you can save all your creatures except one. (You make the first save the 2nd, the 2nd the 3rd, etc. The card text does not link the exiling to the returning (It does not say "when you do...")

It is better than a give-indestructible in the cases your creatures have ETB effect or when they were face-down as they come back face-up.

So, yes, it is better than I thought in the wrath scenario. And that's a problem: if they only die one by one, then you cannot make that chain and my point about being a non-bo with itself still stands.

Not sure what is the purpose of this. I know from experience that since casting is now optional, it mostly enable douche players from claiming you missed your trigger if you draw your card, since the time counters are removed during upkeep. That will be the one major difference it makes. Enable douches.

I was not talking about specific, narrow commander decks that already run tons of token types. Of course I'll put one copy in my Ghave deck. My tokens pile is already two inches thick. But even there, I expect that the typical draw will be two or three. I rarely have 4-5 different token types at the same time unless I'm already winning anyway.

For anything else it is bad. In limited maybe you get a divination if you got a detective token, but being rare and depending on other stuff to have already happen is awful. In constructed, you still need to cast it during specific time windows where you got different tokens in play. And I kinda doubt decks will bend their card choices just to run this. Then again, maybe there will be the perfect storm of a multi-tokens deck, I can't predict the future

That green rare is stupendously bad. If it were any tokens, then yeah, sure super strong, but only creatures? Yikes. Meanwhile, blue gets a reanimate-spell spells for four mana. Any spells. Worldsoul rage is pretty good in fetch-land formats.

And Anzrag's rampage can be really great. Putting a hasty Anzrag itself into play would be back breaking. In commander, X could be very high.

Take that, dockside extortionist! Not that it will fix the power level nor the price of that card...

Illicit Masquerade only works well with self-mill. The card is a nonbo with itself since it prevents your creatures in already play from going to the graveyard to be brought back. So you must already have a filled GY for it to be of any value. Plus, it's also a nonbo with collect evidence, preventing your GY to be filled with things to be collected... so it seems quite narrow and awkward to me.

Flavor text this bad is only used by Wizards of the Coast. That thinking cap's one is particularly awful. Yikes.

That being said, break out is interesting for creature-based combo decks. Digging 6 and giving haste is relevant when trying to devoted druid your way to infinite mana.

Oh and that blinkable -4/-4 removal. Neat.
