Please note you cannot recruit Responder as it has a toughness of 3. Its a fine card but the added 1 power of Serra makes it a 7 turn clock vs. a 10 turn clock.

The miracles matchup I think is pretty good, but I think Gideon is a huge part of it for me at least, that and the SoWaP."

Given the 4 Cavern of Souls you run, counterspell decks like Miracles should be the least of your problems. Color consistency was okay?

@ Elpresident564: How did the Path to Exiles perform for you? The Gideons? I've noted its hard to get to 4 mana to cast Gideon in the mirror, and our Miracle matchup is already pretty good nowadays. I've been debating the Path to Exiles in the board for extra removal.

BTW: I've seen you at Knightware before. We share the same first name.

No, just saw the top 8 list on mtgthesource. I couldn't make it to the event. It looks like you played SwordstoTimeshares' current list, the one including the singleton main Palace Jailer, but I may be wrong. Congratulations on your win and waiting for your report!

Curby: Fixed the gatherer link. You can Flicker the Jailer to exile multiple creatures but when the opponent becomes Monarch the creatures will come back.

Mrjumbo03: You are absolutely right regarding the creature returning, even when jailer is gone. Not sure why, but the Jailer RFTG ability retains the game information despite Jailer being off the battlefield. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=416775 and http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/the-rumor-mill/new-card-discussion/754035-palace-jailer.
Its still a useful silver bullet card but not as strong as I initially believed.

I'm been playing Palace Jailer un the SB recently vs.delver, reanimator, DnT and Miracles. I like it better than banisher priest. It may not be as easy to cast early, but the card advantage mid/late game wins the game. I also got to jail a Griselbrand which is a fun bit of flavor. If anything, chump blocking with it ensures the jailed creature never comes back and you still draw another card next turn. Comboes well with Flickerwisp. (Edit: no combo with Flickerwisp and the creature will return if the opponent becomes the monarch. My mistake. The only thing Flickerwisp will do is reset the Monarch state and re-exile the creature coming back into play).

[quote=fxckdarsh]One final question I have is regarding True-Name Nemesis: aside from Council's Judgment, is there any other way to deal with him? I know I'm gonna be packing three of them in my SB the next time my LGS has that tourney (mid-December).

I personally like Blessed Alliance as a way to get rid of TNN at instant speed.

I agree with Swords to Timeshares that our Reanimator Matchup is no longer as favorable as before. Many players have learned not to get legendary creatures first and instead get hexproof beatsticks or Archetype of Endurance vs. DnT. I've also seen multiple pithing needle main as well as Abrupt Decay/Massacres in the board.

Inconsistency will be a factor eventually I'm sure. Just saying in multiple testing games and 2 small tournaments I haven't been able to play Magus or Pontiff only twice when I wanted it mid to late game. Perhaps that's the difference in our testing? I'm not trying to play it turn 3 or 4. As one ofs only fetched with recruiter I don't expect to see them early anyway.

I've been having pretty good matches against formerly difficult matchups since the inclusion of Recruiter and Prelate. Been destroying Infect (sanctum at 1), Jund (Sanctum at 2) and Lands (Sanctum at 2), several times as early as turn 4 with mom turn 1, thalia turn 2, sanctum/recruiter turn 3. Had my Eldrazi matchup improve significantly with the Recruiter into Flickerwisp, getting Flickerwisp multiple times. Haven't played against Miracles yet but I'm also playing 2 Caverns and I'm not having as many problems vs. Counterspell decks.

Edit: I'm been playing a greedy Recruiter SB list with Magus of the Moon and Pontiff. Haven't had a chance to use them to any great effect but I've noticed I rarely, if ever, have issues casting them between having 4 vials and 2 caverns.

I'm also playing 3 of Recruiter. Its an amazing tool that I'm never unhappy having as long as the game goes past turn 3.

If Serra Avenger is always "incredibly nuts :)" when you play it, why cut it even if its not tutorable? It may not have the same potential highs as the other options but its consistently good and does not suffer from the other options' lows. I still play 3 in my version.
