MTG is pay to win? Hmm... so you're saying the most expensive deck ALWAYS wins? I think people need to know what the term Pay To Win means, what it doesn't mean is Pay to Own stuff.
All Trading Card Games are Pay to Win. It's a Pay to Win model.
I always thought Land Walk was one of the more characterful abilities. I like the idea of lands representing the terrain in which the battle is taking place, just like your summon creatures represent soldiers in your army. It's not just some abstraction of energy. So if your opponent is drawing energy from nearby water sources via "Island" and you draw energy from the nearby water sources via "Island" then it makes sense to be able to send your sea monster into his water and attack him with it from a place he assumed was safe. A place he can't block.
It's more conditional than flying but its harder to counter.
"This is a normal limited set but we wanted you to know it has an incredibly small chance of giving you 24 foil Goyfs. So it's $10 a pack for the privilege."
Abzan(W) are mostly friendly with Temur(G) and Jeskai(U) and mostly enemies with Sultai(B) and Mardu(R).
Jeskai(U) are mostly friendly with Abzan(W) and Sultai(B) and mostly enemies with Mardu(R) and Temur(G).
Sultai(B) are mostly friendly with Jeskai(U) and Mardu(R) and mostly enemies with Abzan(W) and Temur(G).
Mardu (R) are mostly friendly with Sultai (B) and Temur (G) and mostly enemies with Abzan (W) and Jeskai (U).
Temur (G) are mostly friendly with Mardu (R) and Abzan (W) and mostly enemies with Jeskai (U) and Sultai (B).
However that doesn't fit at all.
So then we can look at the shared enemy pairs:
Abzan (WBG) shares WB with Mardu and BG with Sultai.
Jeskai (URW) shares WR with Mardu and UR with Temur.
Sultai (BGU) share UB with Temur and BG with Abzan.
Mardu (RUB) share WB with Abzan and WR with Jeskai.
Temur (GUR) share UR with Jeskai and UG with Sultai.
So I would think, almost counter intuitively because they're something in common, that those are the Clans they actually dislike the most. After all, they share enemy pairs. The allied pairs are unique to the clan.
Abzan - Western Asian
Jeskai - Eastern Asian
Sultai - Southern Asian
Mardu - Central Asian
Temur - Northern Asian
Abzan evokes Arabia and Persia, Jeskai evokes China and Korea, Sultai evokes India and Cambodia, Mardu evokes Kazakhstan and Mongolia, and Temur evokes Tibet and Siberia.
Assuming wedges in Khans, the Ana wedge could easily be about self milling. Blue, Black, and Green would have aspects of Dimir, Golgari, and Simic. Mill your own cards, cast from your graveyard, and grow those undead-fish-beast abominations. This Jace could be decent with that. You'd put one card into your hand and one card into your graveyard. Which in that situation would give you card advantage. Assuming its a keyword thing for cards you can cast from your graveyard you'd be able to sort them into your graveyard and your other cards into your hand. Jace could be pretty solid in a deck like that.
Since we're in speculation I'm going to say I think the Garruk the Slayer might be a spoiler for the potential "Planeswalker" game. It'd be like Commander or Vanguard. You pick a Planeswalker with 20 loyalty give or take and you play as them in the Command Zone and can use their abilities and stuff. Sort of like Hearthstone.
Imagine having four of these and a big soldier in your hand and three mana. Turn four is going to be a hoot.

That could be like dropping 5 creatures and 13 damage on turn four. Then even more stuff the next turn if you have it.
It's a very good ultimate. The other abilities are a bit weak. He's not over powered but he's entirely playable. Whether its competitive is another question. I'm going to guess not. But this isn't his place in the spot light. There's no flavor reason for Jace to be the most powerful of the current Planeswalkers. That would be Bolas.
On the plus side people will be able to afford to buy him. Yay... I like the card art. Sue me.

I think a monthly subscription would be reasonable if you could acquire all the cards in game by winning matches and trading. They'd have to stop the feature to cash in your e cards for physical ones, but that's not a big deal.
Better a subscription model than a free to play one.
