Many thanks to all of you who have replied here! I'm taking in all the advice I can and will post here when the site is running. I've managed to enlist some help from a more experienced computer user, have the domain, and should be running before TOO long...
My apologies if this has been mentioned (as I didn't read through 13 pages), but I wanted to note that the order of colors on the trilands appears to be altered from the standard in order to highlight each clan's primary color. Seems interesting.
That's fine; some of us are. Doesn't make all of us that way, nor does it make it a good idea to ignore the fact that the TMNT poster might have an impact on some Americans who see it. It's not a big stretch to see the connection to a pretty big event in the recent past. Making a big deal out of possible American oversensitivity does nothing to help an issue that can be solved by changing the poster and moving on. Unless anthropomorphic turtles leaping from flaming buildings is an important part of the culture of another nation, and we're trying to stamp it out by pushing our agenda. Which seems doubtful.
I'm not offended, but it is an unfortunate coincidence that would have been worth catching earlier. Like if you realized the 0s and 1s of the Matrix kind of spelled out an offensive word...nothing done on purpose, but no sense pushing it for folks who might be bothered by it. September 11 was sort of a big deal here in the US, and it's nice to think that could be respected much as I would want to respect events of a similar magnitude that took place elsewhere. Turning this into an issue of big bad Americans getting their panties in a wad doesn't really help matters.
I'm looking to build a website. I don't have much experience in this area but feel like I might be able to handle one of the builders currently available. However, I'm not sure if there's anything that fits my needs. The end goal is to have a site where dog owners who have had DNA tests performed on their pets can upload pictures along with the results of the test. I think a simple wiki could handle this. However, I'd like to incorporate these features:
1) A list of dog breeds that can be searched in any combination. (Bonus points if the breeds can be weighted in the search. e.g. I want to find all dogs that are 1/2 or more Labrador Retriever with some amount of Rat Terrier...)
2) For any specific dog, a single-click search for the closest matches in the database.
3) Ultimately, I'd like all dogs to have a single-click search to a site such as Petfinder, pulling up adoptable animals that match the breed of the chosen dog. (This can come later...)
Does anyone have any idea where to start with something like this? I know there must be software templates for this sort of thing out there, but it's hard for me to really grasp the possibilities of most options I've checked out.
