I started getting into duel commander during Khans of Tarkir. I have always loved the Sultai clan--if not for the efficiency, then for the flavor. Aggro-control decks, as well as draw-go decks, have also been my favorite decks to play. Once I saw Tasigur, the Golden Fang in Fate Reforged, I could finally put the two together and have a competitive deck. Of course, it was a broken card, and I am both a glad and disappointed that it was banned (but disappointed only for selfish reasons).
Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone else has had any success with a Sultai control deck post ban.
Here is what I'm using currently, and I will accept any tips, criticisms, or recommendations. Also, feel free to ask any questions if I included something that seems stupid or makes no sense.
The Birthing Pod is just an experiment for the moment. I think I'm more likely to cut it than keep it.
Also, I am sorry for the mediocre organization and lack of a great explanation. I would have spend more time on it, but I had the urge to post this on the same night that I had to wrote two essays, and didn't want to wait to do a better job.
I like how this thread is holistic in its ideas, while also discussing the specifics of certain card choices. I recently obtained a copy of Tasigur from a friend of mine, and I'm probably going to use the idea of your deck as a skeleton. I will most likely reduce the curve a little, since my friends typically like fast-paced strategies. Maybe during my long (dark) teatime, I will try to throw something together.
(I do quite like the idea of dig through time, but I am a bit worried about running treasure cruise, due to it being a big sorcery that doesn't have immediate impact.)
So, I've been playing dredge for a month or so now, but not on MTGO, so I haven't gotten much practice. When I play dredge, I often want a more aggressive beatdown deck game two to hopefully outpace their hate. Then, come game three (if I lose), I would like to sideboard in anti-hate once I know what hate they include. Now, if only to know what to include for such a sideboard, and what to sideboard out. The latter is the hardest part; no one want to side out any part of a stratagem as complex as dredge. I create this threat to hopefully facilitate a discussion that benefits dredge players such as myself. Let's get started.
I play a LEDless Dredge deck. I prefer a speckled ax, mainly because I don't exactly have the funds to create a flashy deck. If you are a reader who is unfamiliar with the dredge mechanic, look through these decks, then look at Lion's Eye Diamond and Faithless Looting. Or just google(1) Lion's Eye Diamond Dredge MTG.
Note the absence of Undiscovered Paradise in the Main Board and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in the sideboard. The reasons for this is merely due to a lack of cards. (Of late, I've been saving up for a Mono Black Infect deck for Modern. I'm cheap, plus I do not believe many people will be as prepared for it, so I should have the edge games 2 and 3). Anyhow, back to the topic at hand. I greatly want to increase the aggression of this deck in the sideboard while also having a few answers. I'm considering cutting Leyline of the Void for Surgical Extraction, cutting Chain of Vapor for Bloodghast, cutting a single Ashen Rider for an Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, and cutting Nature's Claim for more of Pithing Needle. I also want to test Squelch and Bind, though the two mana does not seem worth it. It would be hilarious to see someone sacrifice a Nihil Spellbomb just to see it fall to Bind followed by me dredging 6. Oh well. Better not get caught up in unreasonable dreams.
Anyhow, what tips and tricks do you have for sideboarding? What to side in/out? What's an effective sideboard against your current meta? What should I change about this deck while still keeping it LEDless? Why is LED Dredge superior to LEDless? (Well, LED Dredge is incredibly explosive and therefore has a much higher chance to win). What dredge deck do you currently run, what problems do you have with it, and how do you react to your most difficult match-ups? All of these questions are various topics that I would love to discuss in this thread. Though, since this is a "help" thread, I would favour the first three questions the most.
Cheers, &c.

Currently, I have a Wydwen, the Biting Gale deck, but I really want to use Vorosh, the Hunter (or Damia, Sage of Stone). I'm not sure if running Vorosh over Damia is logical, but I thought that it might make Life from the Loam more consistent, albeit less powerful.
