I'm considering running a set of Brass instead of Gemstone mines. Am i 100% wrong in considering this?
1. If you are going grindy, brass is better than mines
2. If you run more brass, more unlife u need for stay alive
3. If you run transformational sb plan (like mine), u need brass more
Thanks Joe Lam for the report. I'm also quite interested to hear about the other matchups and losses you encountered at the GP.
I really enjoy this deck but got burnt out when I hit so many Jund decks at the last event I went to (5+ out of 8 rounds). Glad to see you find a solid solution for both Jund and Infect!
Ad Nauseam has many good matchup in the metagame, as this version has 8 copies of each combo piece which is much more stable, u dun need many sb in most of the matchup.
vs aggro
+ fog
+ verdict
- charging land (u wont have time to charge)
vs combo/control/tron
+ thoughtseize
- serum vision (sometimes if u dunno what to sideout, u can sideout vision, wont affect alot in finding combo piece, rememeber telling time is better than serum visions in most of the situation)
the 4 matchs i drop:
Round 3 vs burn 1-2
game 1 i stay alive with unlife and cant find the last land i need for combo in 3 turns
game 3 i combo at turn 4, he has 4 lands on board(which is quite a lot as a burn deck), i cast lightning storm, he deflecting palm, i pact of negation, he deflecting palm#2........well.....i guess no one will keep more than 1 pact of negation vs burn post board?
Round 6 vs affinity 0-2
Game 1 i lost in dice, who play first who won that game
Game 2 i mistakenly board out all pact of negation for fog, then he play spellskite, then i found that its a mistake that i dun have pact of negation (if i play supreme verdict then combo with lightning storm, i have only extra 1 mana, which i am very sure opp has spell pierce in hand), so i go in maniac way and hope opp dun have blast, and the result is.........he has both of them
Round 11 vs UW hatebear 0-2
Aether Vial + spell qualler makes all pact of negation dead card, unwinnable matchup
Round 12 vs GB infect 0-2
Opponent kill me both game turn 3, and he didn't play around my fog/removal totally
I down to 5 in Game 2 but still can able to cast Crovax in turn 4, he showed me pro white crusader........ok so this matchup should be unwinnable
Hi all, this is Joe Lam, the one who played this Bring to Ad Nauseam in GP GZ, I went 11-4 (1 bye) in that event
As we all know that infect and Jund are the worst matchup of this deck (event with Ethereal Haze and Leyline), so I only focus my sharing in these 2 matchups
I played against 3 infect (2 UG 1 BG) and 3 Jund (and 1 Mardu, which is similar in disruption) and I only lost to 1 GB infect among these matchups
For infect, my sb plan is
-4 Unlife (you will die when you tap out in your turn)
-1 Maniac (you dun need this win con, it needs more mana)
-3 Ad Nauseam (bring to light = ad nauseam, unlife is side out = u dun need that many copy)
game plan is simple = ALL IN CROVAX
it cannot be spell pierce and nature's claim, and they wont put any dismember against us
this is how I won 2 UG infect in GP, opponent just auto scoop with it
I lost to 1 GB infect since he won me both game in turn 3, and he has phyreaxian crusader, which cant becoz solve by crovax
my sideboard plan vs Jund is
Side out
2 pact of negation
4 angel's grace
3 ad Nauseam
1 maniac
1 unlife
the reason why i did not choose leyline is that the deck will still lost to jund since they can destroy our mana (land and artifact) and discard our hand with liliana, so we either wont have enough mana, our we have enough mana but we need to discard our combo piece with liliana
lingering souls is one of the best card against jund, especially liliana. But it may lost to double tarmogoyf in racing, so there is pulse and verdict to solve the problem, and it really worked in GP in killing double tarmogoyf
both sigarda are strong vs Jund (especially liliana), especially opp usually sideout terminate, the new one can fight against opp multiple threat by token and win the damage race easier, its easy to hit the board on turn 3 (turn 2 prism, turn 4 bring to light)
crovax is the tier 2 threat in the deck, its hard to kill and match with other threat (especially lingering souls), and additionally, it matched with new sigarda so much not only becoz of token, but also becoz crovax is a HUMAN
and the deck is very flexible after sideboard, we keep 3 unlife and 1 ad nauseam (which can be search out by 4 bring to light), so there is a chance goes into combo even we have transformation sideboard
telling time is the MVP vs Jund since it can look at more cards and also prevent important card being discarded
the sideboard plan is not the only reason i play bring to light, but also for the stability in maindeck
there is no card like bring to light in an Ad nauseam deck that can cast in 5 mana(Spoils is 1+5, peer is 2+5, GW wish is 2+5, teaching is 4+5)
so my hand and draw can let me combo off turn 4 in about 70%+ since i got 8 copy of each combo piece, so number of hand i can keep is much more that before
WOTC won't ban anything in Grishoalbrand,
instead, they just need to reprint Containment Priest in modern (see how Containment Priest affecting Sneak & Show in legacy)
Check the spoilers.
I post this comment before Hallowed Moonlight being spoiled, check the time
I was currently playing typical affinity list except:
1, I got main deck 4 ensoul artifact
2, I got Darksteel Axe(!) in main deck and sideboard 1 each
After sideboard, the synergy of (1) Darksteel Axe + Ensoul Artifact (2) Darksteel Axe + Etched Champion survive well even under tons of removal of any deck with RB command
Temporarily I smashed all Grixis deck (Delver/Twin/Control) I have faced.
I will say Darksteel Axe has passed the Exam of Grixis with distinction.
Instead of banning a card in Grishoalbrand, wotc can just print a specific card against a specific deck to make the deck won't be overpower (see Stony Silence)
Advantages:
1. Avoid ppl complaint of banning card AGAIN
2. Keep the environment stable (Banning TC shakes environment a lot)
3. If a specific card is very good in against a specific (overpower) tier 1 deck, obviously everyone have to buy, which help wotc making profit
My speculation:
WOTC won't ban anything in Grishoalbrand,

When I was using the deck in MTGO, there is only ONE match that opponent conceded before I mill 10 cards from his library.
His deck is Ad Nauseum.
Trust me, you don't need to worry about that. It's a free win matchup even you only has a normal opening hand
This is jokelamb whom you guys mentioned before, I tried many games in 2 man event but also 3-1 daily twice. I was running the list in GP Charlotte 15th. Here are some feelings after I played with the deck couple of times
1. The matchup is really depends on your opening hand and opponent hand. I can even win a burn deck 2-0 (which supposing a very bad matchup). Many close games just losing to opponent’s consecutive key cards on the top of opponent library
2. Discard is very important. I am playing 7 discard spell now. Basically you discard opponent’s solution to the bridge and control opponent’s library top is enough to win
3. Spellskites always being the target of opponent’s creature removal, if no spellskite maindeck you may just outplay their creature removal, the deck I think really need to sidein spellskite is infect, burn, bogles (Twin is negotiable, not easy for them to complete to combo under discard, needle and bridge)
4. Always losing to fast tasigur and tarmogoyf, especially tasigur, you have no way to solve it, I am considering dismember maindeck
5. I am currently trying Ashiok x 2 maindeck and give up red, I think Liliana of the veil maybe a nice try also(but I have none to try T_T)
6. Opponent Ghost Quarter always become a wasteland, a single basic maybe needed
i almost give up that version since all GBX playing lingering souls in sb now
i am considering playng gifts ungiven package in sb instead.....need some test

Omnitell is totally different from Sneak and Show even they are both playing show and tell
Their mechanisms are not the same
Omnitell is not tier 1 before Dig through time being issued
Sneak and Show is no more tier 1 after Containment Priest being issued
1, I got main deck 4 ensoul artifact
2, I got Darksteel Axe(!) in main deck and sideboard 1 each
