If we weren't in the last set of the Theros block I'd say that this is a counter-measure in case Constellation decks are too powerful. But since we're only (probably) getting a one Constellation creature in each color, Constellation wont be a big thing and this card isn't too great.
I like the idea of a land devotion cycle. They probably won't be super playable, but it's still cool. On a slightly related note I think really like the Theros mechanics that we've seen. Heroic, bestow, monstrous, devotion, inspired, and constellation are all pretty cool.
Kruphix and Keranos will both be bad. Both their colors are hard to balance without breaking and Wizards is trying (and succeeding) in scaling back the power level from INN/RTR.
I like this guy a lot. He can put on early pressure, help against Verdict, and prevent a guy from blocking later on. Being a minotaur makes him cost zero with Ragemonger
He could be pretty ridiculous after Supreme Verdict rotates. I'll guess that he'll see fringe play (two of's in 3-1 @FNM decks on tappedout) until then.
It will be $12+ preorder, but it will be a $3 rare until RtR rotates. Kalonian Hydra is better because trample makes it better on its own. You could go for a ball-to-the-wall Xenagod + BTE + Nylea + Nykthos + Voyaging Satyr OTK, but at point you might as well run Polukranos.
I've been lurking here for a few months and I've just decided to make an account with the JOU spoiler season. I started playing magic around Future Sight and quit around Morningtide. Like an everyone else who thought they'd quit, I sold almost all my cards for way less than they were worth (several Mutavault and thoughseize for about $3 each). I started back up with an M14 sealed at PAX West where I went 3-1 losing. Since then I've been hooked and spend a lot of my free time (and work time) brewing decks.
I mostly play standard and EDH, but I'd like to get into modern when I can afford it and/or if the price of fetches falls drastically. I'd classify myself as a Johnny-Spike hybrid because I like building weird decks (my friends and I put together Green Devotion and R/G monsters decks during Theros spoilers) that work in a competitive environment. My favorite color combinations are U/G/x (RUG, BUG, and Bant are all awesome IMO) and W/R.
Hope you all have a great day and happy spoilers!
P.S. I know the shorthand for my name also means piece of *****. Deal with it.
