Survival cache is pretty fantastic early with the amount of walls we have, on average it will gain you 4 and draw you 1, but the second will get full value. I feel that everyone is undervaluing how slow this format is and how good white is as well.
I voted G/B. Green for ramp and mid/early game creatures, black for removal and a couple more fatties (the wurm and the Nulls). But blue (narc, skyscout, sphinx, oracle) and red (staggershock, flame slash) were way tempting as well.
I totally don't see what you guys see in white. I mean, it's got some good stuff (Wall of Omens, Hyena Umbra), but nothing that really jumps out at me. I'd play the two Skyscouts over the Angel any day, for instance, and Narc over Smite. Am I missing something for white?
Why would you play 2 2/2 fliers over a 2/4 flier and a 3/4 flier that you could get some value out of? That doesn't make sense to me.
That was the worst joke I've heard in a long time.
Except it may be true having a turn 3 kill condition in standard is nothing to scoff at, and Bazaar Trader will make sure that this card is going to be ok in the coming standard.
Philadelphia Convention Center large pre-release first day got and Unlimited Time Vault, and Unlimited Mox Pearl, and an Unlimited Sinkhole. Not bad if you ask me.
Yah weird to say I am most excited about the Kraken because I love limited. The rest is just filler, and green getting a Bog Wraith isn't so bad, not the last pick at all.
Are you all REALLY complaining about foil Lightning Bolts? Lightning Bolt is awesome and I freaked out when this was posted. Everyone that plays standard and in a lot of events are spoiled, and the foils bolts are going to be expensive too, not as expensive as the other foils, but expensive none the less. I'de say itll start at 12 and then drop to 10. Seriously Wizards is printing money and people are complaining... you'll never be satisfied.
Could be pretty nice. Ranger of Eos fetches him too, so that could be fun.
At the very least, play 1 on turn 5, have 4 mana open to protect him from somehow.
No love for Goblin Guide?
The thing about the deck is it is more of a control deck against the field until I get to attacking. Golblin Guide is a fair card, but I need things that survive Fallout and are really tough to deal with, like Wholly Thoctar, Wild Nacatl, and so on.
This is a solid drop in limited and should not be passed...I can wait for an opponent to use removal on it lol.
This will be more than a solid drop in limited, it will be a first pick a lot of the time if it is in your pack because its grow clause is so easy to gain in limited.
Wow that card seems terribly efficient, but will probably be just as bad as Hoofprints of the Stag. But it turns into a super Secred Mesa on steroids, could be good.
Right it COULD be slower, but most of the cards that cause these fast finishes are still going to be in standard at the time. Overrun, Ajani Goldmane, Hellspark Elemental, Lightning Bolt, Honor of the Pure. Granted Standard can't really get any slower than Filter Land/ Vivid Land/ Reflecting Pool. And with the amount of emphasis that Wizards is putting on strong under-costed creatures it's not crazy to say that more than likely the environment will be fast, not super slow.
Don't get me wrong I love Sorin and think he's super playable, but you also have to realize that the people who think he's unplayable have valid claims too because of trends that Wizards has been known to do...
We could always go Vintage speed, where stuff can end on the 1st turn. Or we could have fun with Sorin and Chandra in a scene where we do not have to end games on turn 4.
Obviously you haven't seen standard lately, where the fastest decks can end the game on turn 4 or 5 regularly with no reesistance off of a Demigod of Revenge or Ajani Goldmane. While I don't think that Sorin is unplayable in the least, you should know that right now the environment in standard is more aggressive at ending games early than Vintage or Legacy.
Still am interested in exactly what your opinions are though...
if you were expecting him to not deal directly with artifacts then you have been expecting something very outlandish...
color me unimpressed
