Why is it so difficult to determine the true value of this card? I pulled it from a pack this weekend and can't figure out the value, are the Japanese foils that rare?
Something I'm fooling with is replacing dismember in the side with psionic blast. Yes, I know it does one less damage. Yes, I know it costs more. Something it does give is some versatility though, 4 points of reach to the face is a rarity for blue. So far mixed results. A huge surprise when it comes down though.
Innovation wins the day, this has always been in the back of my mind to try.
Teknomahge, how were you able to circumvent the typical curve issue we have with remand?
Any other minor or major changes with your list?
It is an issue occasionally where I have to choose between advancing the board or answering their threat/answer, but it isn't to difficult to anticipate when to hold remand. This weekend, against Jund, he played Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and I Vapor Snag with a Remand backing up the play (known to him due to the multiple discard spells he cast). Last week I remanded a Eldritch Evolution and killed him before he could recast it.
Has anyone here ever played with the full playset of 4 Remands in the side with success?
I am running 2 Remand main and my testing against new expected archtypes (Kiki-chord running Eldritch Evolution, Bant Eldrazzi with Elder Deep-Fiend, Suicide Zoo and Dredge) I am considering adding one more to my sb. Remand is such a tempo swing that is is shining in my testing for GP Indy. I play 2-4 Modern tournaments a week (I know, I have no life, but there are so many LGS Modern events in Metro Detroit that I have to take advantage of the testing) and I have prized in every one, including top 8 at a PPTQ (damned Affinity).
I've been reading this forum for over two years and I don't think I've ever seen anyone post this strategic tip that was pointed out to me after a narrow loss to this irritating combo Friday night.
Side in Kira, Great Glass-Spinner and when your opponent cast Lightning Storm and discards lands to kill you, when they pass priority, discard your own land and target Kira, thus countering the spell. Am I the only Merfolk player that didn't know this trick?!?
This is my take on attacking the current meta:

4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Master of the Pearl Trident
4 Master of Waves
1 Merrow Reejerey
1 Phantasmal Image
4 Silvergill Adept
2 Tidebinder Mage
2 Vendilion Clique
I played a similar list at 2 GPTs this weekend and went a combined 8-3-2 in a 4 round (16 players, 2nd after cut to top 4) and a 7 round (68 players). Unfortunately, I didn't face any of the Eldrazzi.
ATTENTION: ALL MERFOLK PLAYERS ATTENDING GP DETROIT
I want to hold a Fish meet & greet for forum posters to meet. I had a chance to meet Mrs. Mulligan and her husband in Cincinnati and floated this idea to them. Would a Friday night or Saturday night make more sense? We have the Greektown Casino readily accessible from the venue (18+). Looking for ideas and opinions. This may be the first of it's kind. Given the popularity of Modern, this may be the largest Modern GP ever.
The more I look at the meta for Modern, I'm lead to consider the value of Nullify as a sideboard option. Has anyone ever considered countering the creature instead of removal? Just wondering.
