I would suggest you check out the thread on the source .We've been working on the deck for a while and we've all (the forum regulars ) been doing really well with the lists we're settling on. All your answers are there. As far as outracing them goes sure you can do that maybe if you land a chalice and they're not on the play but sometimes a main deck karakas can win the game as your first land drop . what utility are you looking for? the deck doesn't want wasteland .

so this is a different take on it and I've never played it in modern .this is just me having a place to bounce ideas around. this however is not colorless ,it also doesn't fit into any of the other subs either so sorry if this post makes anyone mad.

    4 displacer
    4 skyspawner
    4 thoughtknot
    3 smasher
    3 phyrexian revoker
    2 phyrexian metamorph
    2 spellskite
    4 simian spirit guide

    4 chalice of the void
    2 ratchet bomb
    3 thopter foundry
    2 sword of the meek

    4 eldrazi temple
    4 adarkar waste
    4 blinkmoth nexus
    3 vesuva
    3 cavern of souls
    3 ghost quarter
    1 waste
    1 island
    1 plains.

this is just a theory crafting session. so the basic thought behind it is to make the deck playable as an aggro/midrange deck I could see a case for matter reshaper for sure . My thoughts behind the thopter sword was that its probably wrong to be playing artifacts and blue/white and not be playing it..Sorry for posting in your thread . Don't hate me.

My question for the day is how Necessary is it to run Karakas at 1 in your MB? It seems most lists are running it; however, is it a have too or preference?

Karakas as a 1 of is almost a must. there are lots of legends you don't want on the battlefield. and running it as a 2 in the main is an almost free way of having good sneak and show and reanimator match ups.

    Hi,
I also cut Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth because it's sort of useless past making Eye of Ugin better.

I think cutting all your copies of this is a HUGE mistake. Not only does it make eye mana, it allows you to tap ancient tomb for 1 mana instead of 2 without paying the life penalty. Yes you may not be able to utilize the black mana, but the utility it provides is so strong.

Yeah but I'd rather have 2 Karakas and 4 Cavern of Souls for 4 Eldrazi Displacers, which, in my opinion, trump Matter Reshaper in terms of usefulness (preventing Emrakul, the Aeons Torn from ever attacking is a win in my book). I look at Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as the land I am consistently least excited to see in my opening hand or when drawing. You can't cast a number of eldrazi (all of them with the exception of Eldrazi Mimic and Endless One require one <>) with the black mana it makes, and at best, it turns out a t2 chalice/thorn/sphere effect from a terrible hand that you should have mulled to begin with.

I'd rather have a t1 Eldrazi Temple/Ancient Tomb, poop out an Endless One or Eldrazi Mimic and have a t2 Crystal Vein/City of Traitors into a Thought-Knot Seer (swinging in for 6) or an Umezawa's Jitte played/equipped/swinging than a t1 Eldrazi Temple, aforementioned critter, and a t2 nothing (or at best, a totally vulnerable Jitte that sits for a turn). It's true that if I had an Eye of Ugin and an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth on t2, I could cast my critters, but I'd be locked out of my Thought-knot Seer and Reality Smasher until I found a <> source. I've run into the issue of having the right mana, but not the right color (or lack there of) in modern many times. I'm still baffled by most players not realizing that the uncounterable mana Cavern of Souls makes must be colored and isn't always tapped for that uncounterable mana when casting colorless eldrazi. Make sure you're announcing that you're making a colored mana to pay for a generic mana in a creature's cmc if you don't want to be visited by a judge (who will likely rule against you since you didn't say anything about making uncounterable manas).

When casting eldrazi spells with cavern of souls as long as the colorless mana requirement is met it is assumed that cavern is casting it uncounterably, you don't have to announce it.

So I dunno if people have been keeping up with the new tech to beat eldrazi . .blood moon, painter's servant, worship, and it also appears ensnaring bridge/endbringer combo.I have made a list to help combat those efforts and wanted to get opinions. It also has a slight flavorful twist to it.For the record I didn't realize this until recently Descendant's path allows you cast the card so you get the cast triggers off of the eldrazi.Blind flipping emrakul is so much fun too btw haha.

    Creatures:24
    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    4 matter reshaper
    4 reality smasher
    4 Conduit of Ruin
    3 Oblivion Sower
    2 World Breaker
    2 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
    1 emrakul, the aeon's torn

    Spells:10
    1 doom blade
    3 dismember
    3 heartless summoning
    3 descendant's path

    Lands:25
    4 Eldrazi Temple
    4 Eye of Ugin
    2 Ghost Quarter
    1 wastes
    1 forest
    1 swamp
    4 overgrown tomb
    4 llanowar wastes
    4 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

    SB
    3 nature's claim
    1 world breaker
    1 void winnower
    1 whip of erberos
    2 feed the clan
    3 relic of progenitus
    2 pithing needle
    2 ratchet bomb

If you are running green, Ancient Stirrings feels like a must since it's the best cantrip in Modern. I'd also consider running Evolutionary Leap. When folks target your Eldrazi for removal, sacrifice it to Leap and find another.

This list looks awesome, but i agree that ancient stirrings would probably do something for it.

I looked through the thread and didn't see anything but has anyone ever tried leonine arbiter + ghost quarter + path in these jeski builds? Maybe with Geist and young pyromancer ? the only downside i can think of is that the mana would be hard (no/few fetches.) but playing spell pierce and mana leak along with vapor snag creates huge advantages when your opponent can't fetch /search or answer your delver because they have to get rid of the arbiter . Thoughts?

You never know until you try it. I say give it a go. The GW hate bears version works very well. However, they do have access to mana dorks and horizon canopy. Don't let anyone tell you something doesn't work before you give it a go. If it ends up being a terrible idea, so beat it, but if you have an idea it's worth it to a least craft a list and give it a try in testing.
You could focus it more on land denial and a very low curve with young p. Possibly with Spreading Seas or seas claim in combination with aven mindscensor. As you said above, you could vapor snag their threats and counter them. Sounds like fun at minimum. I always like to see outside the box thinking because that's how new decks arise. Cool idea and I hope it works out for you.

hanks for the response! yeah i actually should give it a try , so if i was to put something together it would probably look like this suggestions before i buy the cards that i would still need.

    4 delver
    4 leonin arbiter
    3 monastery mentor
    2 snapcaster
    2 grim lavamancer

    4 serum visions
    4 path to exile
    4 lightning bolt
    3 mana leak
    3 gitaxian probe
    2 lightning helix
    2 remand
    1 electrolize
    1 gutshot
    1 spell pierce

    4 sea chrome coast
    2 sulfur falls
    1 sacred foundry
    2 steam vents
    1 hallowed fountain
    2 plains
    2 island
    1 mountains
    4 ghost quarter

Anything you'd change let me know

I will need to theory craft some ideas before I can give you any good recommendations. I would definitely expolore the land denial portion of this deck as it's stregth. Cards like Aven Mindcensor are things that would go with tempo and land denial. Possibly a Trickbind or Squelch as well. I am busy working on a primer and I will get back to you asap.

i thought about molten rain and mindcensor , squelch did escape me but i like it . i can't wait to hear your ideas

Good day for the deck at scg. regionals it looks like we might be well positioned against the eldrazi decks .time will tell i guess. i've only played against the b/x versions but in my limited matches (about 10) i don't feel like its awful .

Wouldn't playing a 1/3 split of peek/sleight of hand make lab maniac winning at instant speed a lot easier ?

I noticed the last few pages and decklists are not using the glittering wish plan. Are we off that plan now?

Right now the "go to" plan is either mystical teachings, peer through depths or spoils. Bring to light/ glittering wish lists are new and fancy and they ARE good but in my (limited) experience tend to be "clunkier", but still good in general.

Suppresion field is not a great plan. At least with lightning storm because each land you wanna discard costsr you 2 mana.

Also I do think pyroclasm >>>> drown in sorrow. Drown is slow and pyroclasm off collor bur much better. Won a pptq in march with 2 pyroclasm in my deck. Also played 4 flooded strand 1 steam vents.

i agree i've played as many as three pyroclasm in the board its been an all star as a 2 of.
