Feb 3, 2014Black Megatog posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite magic card is Glimpse the Unthinkable. I may not play with it anymore, but it was one of the first rares that I ever fell in love with. It is a perfect concoction of art, mechanics, and flavor.Posted in: Announcements

Doesn't Cabal Slaver specify combat damage, though?
That's an interesting add. It really punishes Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth...you could even run Urborg in your Crusading Knight Deck.
White Knight...I still think it's an efficient card, but it's not splashy enough to get play in EDH. In a format where you need to deal around 120 damage to win, 2 power with no CA bonuses isn't going to cut it.
I never run this card, but when I try to build an infect voltron deck, I look longingly at that +5/+0 bonus and wonder.
I think the important distinction between wraths and Grave Pact strategies is that Grave Pact effects give you a modicum of control over what's happening on the board. Most wraths, with cards like Austere Command excepted, will wipe out every creature including the stuff you'd like to keep. Obviously in some decks that doesn't matter, and those are the decks you'd rather have wraths in. However, in decks that win via incremental advantage, turning a Fleshbag Marauder into a Barter in Blood is very strong.
On another note, I'm not a fan of Butcher of Malakir. I think it costs too much for the effect it provides, and the body tends to be more of a liability than a boon. I'd be more likely to run it if it was a 5 mana 1/1.
Really wreck your opponents (but not really) after a Polymorphist's Jest?
Even Arbor Colossus can't reach higher.
Well, it was a holiday.
Tread Upon is pretty unexciting as far as tricks go. It's not something I would run even if I wanted to run one-time use combat tricks.
