I love MTG, and I think the game has the best art out of any card game, but I do agree that some of the art is gruesome. Your best bet is to probably try to steer clear of those cards if you don't like them.
Now, I don't know when of even if I can. See, I have quite a few issues such as social anxiety, Aspergers Syndrome, etc. However, I don't want that to stop me from trying to play a game that I've come to enjoy playing(Played a few games with someone via Cockatrice). It's not the first time I've considered this, either. The locals I want to go to is one that I have visited once before but I just went there to buy a couple of packs and to check the place out. I planned to go back but....that didn't happen.
Anyway, do you guys have any advice? Like, what to bring(other than the obvious like a deck in card sleeves, a deck box, etc), how to interact with other Magic players, how to avoid theft(Big fear of mine.), etc.
And then there's the budget. How much minimum would I have to invest to build a good budget deck for Standard? I have my eye on mono-red or red/white(red and white are my two favorite mtg colors). I also wouldn't mine trying out EDH/Commander either. Are budget EDH decks a thing?
One of the reasons I collect Magic: The Gathering cards is because of the game's artwork. The game has amazing artwork. The best I've seen out of any card game.
So, out of curiosity, what are some of your favorite card artworks and why?
This sounds like something more than a magic problem, and I'd consider seeing a psychiatrist or something similar to figure out how you can better deal with social situations.
Anything to trade/may I see your binder/Wanna play/do you have a deck/Do you have X?
Those are perfectly acceptable ways within MtG culture to approach a stranger.
And if you're openly carrying a binder, the odds of someone talking to you first rise exponentially. Same questions as above: do you have X/can I see your binder? Having a binder that's obviously a collection of some sort (angels, goblins, minotaurs and whatnot, artists, asian lands, etc) that can branch out to be conversation pieces.
The problem is, I don't have much to offer for trade.
Alright, dude. Well, best of luck then
Just remember that everyone in an LGS has the same interest as you: Magic. Some people suck and wont care you exist until you win an PTQ, and some people will thrive off your creative ideas for homebrews.
Thanks.
You have a point there. We all share an interest in MTG.

I am still working on a deck but I'm still new to the game.
This has been bothering me recently. How does one go about approaching people at an LGS when they're new?
I mean, I'm not sure when I can actually play the game IRL(I plan on it_ but one thing that's been bothering me is how to actually approach people. Like, if I see people playing, do I just walk up and watch and say "What's up?" or what.
I mean, I kinda did that when I went to the LGS the first time(want to go pack to pick up a couple of m15 packs) but still, any advice on this?
No, I don't know anyone who plays IRL. I want to be a player (and collector).
The store itself seems like a nice place. And I'm sure there's players there who are friendly. But I'm worried about the other types of Magic players; the ones who are rude, try to rip people off, etc. Those type of people are out in the community, sadly.
I've been into MTG for a few months now but have yet to go to any LGS. However, due to both anxiety and aspergers, I'm scared to go.
I admit, I don't have a deck(wanna pick up an M15 Intro Pack to start off) but I want to go to check the place out. Does anyone have any advice? I'm most worried about the players at the LGS.

Thread merged into official Cards Sleeves and Protectors Discussion
I'm still not sure when I can actually go and play but I do plan to learn more about the game to know what's good and not and other stuff.
Thanks.

Already seeing one. And a therapist.

Guys, I talked to my parents. I might be checking it out tomorrow.
EDIT: Actually went today. Made small talk with some guys and bought a couple of packs.
Oh, I should mention that I do have cards as a collector, but no active deck. I was working on one with what I had but it's far from done.
Also, do you guys recommend the M15 red intro pack?
