Yeah I talked to a friend and he said DRS are a must for legacy play. Thats super sad I really think Regal Force is so cool. I did see Ruric Thar and totally thought he would be useful for combo decks. I doubt I'll get fetches but i think Natural Order would be a good add if i choose that over glimpse of nature. I can't really afford both.
Hey guys, so i made my first Legacy deck but I did it on a budget and skipped on a few important cards. (Proxy Glimpse, No Gaea's Cradle and no Arbor Dryad)
I need help optimizing the numbers of each creature because i find myself not really comboing off as consistently as I should. Interestingly enough I have gotten a few Turn 4 wins without even using glimpse of nature and using a Elvish Archruid to cast a high mana Green Sun's Zenith to just search for Craterhoof Behemoth. However I would like to be able to combo turn 3 consistently using Glimpse of Nature. Glimpse has been pretty dissapointing so far and usually runs out of steam after drawing 3 cards so i must be doing it wrong. I am actually using a proxy glimpse which makes me feel better about it haha but I want to use it well enough it will actually make me want to buy the playset before i do. I would love to hear your advice as to what I should thin out, personally i think i am running too many Llanowar elves, fyndhorn elves and birchlore rangers. I do have a Deathrite Shaman to add to the deck but it is currently being used in my standard deck.
I think i got the 4 birchlore rangers originally thinking i could possibly grapeshot. I also have 1 grapeshot. Also i know the elvish champion is probably not the best card to put in, i just had it laying around and thought it finally could get some use.
Update:
I have been goldfishing and i seem to run across Green Sun's Zenith very easily. I just did a turn 3 win with Priest of titania tapping for 6 mana on turn 3 and the other elves got it up to 9 for a green sun zenith for craterhoof behemoth with 3 elves still untapped to get the win. I think i might get more priest of titania.
Yeah i think im gonna cut the slaughter horns too. I ran into too much swamp in one game. I can think i can fix it with a few elvish mystics. And yeah if i get the money I would like another deathrite. I practiced with my new deck today and people freaked out so much about deathrite shaman that they would blow their removal on it immediately.
And interesting move on the manaweft sliver its a solid card. I don't have enough of a mana problem to use those i think.
Yeah i think the death touch + lotleth troll trample mechanic is very strong. I have a feeling im gonna have to take a rule print out to show that only 1 dmg will be dealt to the creature and the rest to player.
I agree with your answer as to what to replace, but do you think it is improvement to put in 4 Elvish Mystic just in general?
Hey guys, making my first Standard deck and am going B/G Dredge. The Deck is actually finished and i have the budget version but i have "upgraded" 3 of the card slots adding a Deathrite Shaman and 2 Heralds of Torment and am looking into what else i can change.
A few obvious upgrades that I can think of:
Adding 2 Overgrown Tomb (I can probably get these with the help of a friend) I will also try to get 2 Temple of Malady to replace the guild gates.
4 sylvan caryatid However I do not have the budget to get these so I will do without
and 1 more Deathrite Shaman I also do not have the budget to get another one.
I have been looking at other successful BG dredge decks online and notice that many run 4 Elvish Mystics. I have acquired a playset but am not quite sure what to replace with them if i do that. My friend has also suggested Voyaging Satyr as a better version but i'm not so sure its better and we would still need to replace something anyway. sylvan caryatid seems like a pretty good upgrade but I can't afford it.
Just looking for advice if i should run elvish mystic, the Bloodrush mechanic seems pretty decent for the budget with Wasteland Viper and SLaughterhorn as well as cheap creatures to be dredged into the graveyard.
Haha yeah Thassa's rebuff was awful in the deck, should have side boarded it for sure. There was one time that it would have worked and i forgot to play it since the opponent had spent all his mana and i had 1 blue devotion. I think i mindblanked wheni left it in the deck and thought devotion was for # of islands you control haha (this was my first time playing theros cards) Most of the time it was a zero devotion spell
Yeah apparently redrafting rares isn't normal haha and this store just does it. It makes the entry cheaper I think though since no cash prize. It's $11.25 basically just pay for the packs.
Yeah blue wasn't planned, i just ended up seeing a lot of evasion in it, honestly most of the time blue didn't even play a huge role. Mainly Fearsome Temper attached to minotaurs or Impetuous Sunchaser
I'm too lazy to make the list but i took a picture for my friend, the upper left card is hard to read but its the nyad of 2/2 Flying with the bestow option.
Don't worry guys I didn't drop haha. I wouldn't have dropped regardless i decided once i got there. Not one person in the 3-8 person pods pulled a Brimaz anyway haha although there were 2x Xenagos in my pod. Good news though I got third place in my pod! I lost to the the person who got first.
I had a red/blue deck which I will post later for fun. The idea was red creatures and then pump them up with Red Enchantments and blue enchantments which would make them unblockable.
Is the BNG pack first? I will try to solidify in pack 2. I'm not worried about the lands anymore, the store has a playset of every worthwhile single ever made for sale so i assume they have tons of mana.
I just wanted to clarify with commiepuddin that the rares get redrafted! Thats the only reason im concerned about pulling a brimaz. more than likely i won't and ill play anyway. My number 1 concern is making a decent deck and have fun.
Your point about stormbreath dragon in sideboard made me remember a question.
So essentially the first few picks we are supposed to pick any bombs we see?
I can see picking stormbreath dragon for sure off the first pack for example, but what if we proceed to draft blue green and then the second pack has another red bomb? I know picking it would be considered hatedrafting possibly. Keep in mind that our store REDRAFTS the rares at the end in placement order. I was surprised to know that this actually is not the common method of doing draft but that's how the LGS here does it.
I guess my real question was, how many picks/packs do you just pick the bomb of the out cards regardless of trying to find two colors you want to construct?
Hey guys, doing my first FNM draft tomorrow night and the boosters will be THeros Theros Born of the Gods. I just looked up the basics and this is all i know:
17 Mana
15 Creatures
BREAD
Yeah thats it. So if you guys have any should-know/basic tips I would love to hear it. I don't know what colors I want to draft but i do know it should probably be two colors.
Side question, I saw somewheer that suggested bringing my own mana, however, not all my mana is in mint condition and i don't want to use old crappy mana and also know if i'm about to draw a mana during the match. I know that this can be resolved with sleeves but I do not have any extra sleeves. The guy at the shop said they'll provide mana but a website i read says sometimes the store runs out of mana.
Also do you guys ever drop out if you draft a super valuable card? My assumption is that you would have to do it literally right when you open. 1)There aren't many valuable cards in Theros and BNG i think brimaz is the only thing worth dropping for and he is $34. 2) I also assume it would be pretty rude?
EDIT: THE RARES ARE REDRAFTED SORRY HAD TO CLARIFY
Thank you for your deck and explanation. It is definitely a slightly different direction than mine. I like the splash of red for the Lightning Helix but I definitely cannot afford Sacred Foundry. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Clifftop Retreat is not that expensive. I also cannot afford student of warfare or ranger of eos. Since this deck will most likely still remain mono-white there is no real need for Knight of the White Orchid. I agree that my deck list is vulnerable to board wipes but Aside from Soldier of the Pantheon yours would be too i believe? I think Brave the elements could possibly protect form a wipe. By late game you mean cards with power/toughness over 3/3? Because then yes all i have is Hero and a hopefully pumped up CoTP.
I like the 4 Silverblade Paladin combo with a pumped COTP but would that replace my Precinct Captain? I'm trying to match my creature list (in the same order as your decklist) to yours since we have some of the same cards.
1) CoTP
2)Doomed Traveler
3)Precinct Captain
4)Thalia
5)Grand Abolisher
6)Silverblad Paladin
7)Mirran Crusader
8)Imposing Sovereign, Hero of Bladehold
9) Fiend Hunter
9)Would you suggest still running Doomed Traveler/Accorder Paladin?
Sounds good, i agree with the lands part, 24 lands works well for my vampire deck but that's because i have cards with X manacost like Tendrils of Corruption
Yeah I talked to a friend and he said DRS are a must for legacy play. Thats super sad I really think Regal Force is so cool. Cards I am considering getting if you guys think its a good idea. Ezuri, Renegade Leader, Dryad Arbor, Joraga Warcaller
Here is the decklist
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Quirion Ranger
4 Wirewood Symbiote
4 Birchlore Rangers
4 Heritage Druid
4 Nettle Sentinel
4 Elvish Visionary
2 Elvish Archdruid
2 Fyndhorn Elves
1 Craterhoof Behemoth
1 Regal Force
1 Priest of Titania
1 Elvish Champion
4 Glimpse of Nature
4 Green Sun's Zenith
Land
16 Forrest
I think i got the 4 birchlore rangers originally thinking i could possibly grapeshot. I also have 1 grapeshot. Also i know the elvish champion is probably not the best card to put in, i just had it laying around and thought it finally could get some use.

I agree with your answer as to what to replace, but do you think it is improvement to put in 4 Elvish Mystic just in general?
8 Swamp
2 Golgari Guildgate
2 Overgrown Tomb
8 Forest
Creatures: 31
4 Wasteland Viper
4 Lotleth Troll
4 Satyr Wayfinder
4 Nighthowler
4 Slaughterhorn
2 Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
2 Shadowborn Demon
4 Nemesis of Mortals
2 Herald of Torment
1 Deathrite Shaman
4 Commune With the Gods
4 Grisly Salvage
1 Whip of Erebos
The first version i looked at ran 3 Shadowborn Demon and 2 Scavenging Ooze. I cut both oozes and dropped 1 demon.
A few obvious upgrades that I can think of:
Adding 2 Overgrown Tomb (I can probably get these with the help of a friend) I will also try to get 2 Temple of Malady to replace the guild gates.

What actually won me most of the games were 2x Impetuous Sunchaser and 2x Fearsome Temper getting them in opening hands.
I'll post my deck tomorrow. The prizes I got were:
Temple of Triumph
Spear of Heliod
Arbor Colossus
Daxos of Meletis
Triad of Fates
Silent Artisan (foil)
Whims of the Fates
I didn't know which cards were valuable so i asked people to help haha. I only knew that scry lands were worth something.
Is the BNG pack first? I will try to solidify in pack 2. I'm not worried about the lands anymore, the store has a playset of every worthwhile single ever made for sale so i assume they have tons of mana.

4 Champion of the Parish
3 Silverblade Paladin

3 Oblivion Ring
1 Path to Exile

I like the 4 Silverblade Paladin combo with a pumped COTP but would that replace my Precinct Captain? I'm trying to match my creature list (in the same order as your decklist) to yours since we have some of the same cards.

7)Mirran Crusader
8)Imposing Sovereign, Hero of Bladehold
9) Fiend Hunter
9)Would you suggest still running Doomed Traveler/Accorder Paladin?
I will also try running 20 lands maybe.
Update:
