@FoodChainGoblins thanks for the input. I never found her again actually. But this has definitely motivated me to be more courageous in the future so I don't end up losing opportunities like this.

Thanks for the input Jay. I was thinking about just calling the workplace and asking if shes there, see if she remembers me and just ask about the job (as if I wanted to apply) and go from there. I've taken girls on dates before, but thanks anyway for the general dating advice :p im just bad at reading cues and stuff like that

Hi guys. I met this girl at this massive community service thing at a high school (i'm in high school too). She was running one of the stations, and I was volunteering as well. I was assigned to that station, and when I arrived, I saw that her name tag said "faculty" but she looked younger. I asked, "are you in high school?" and she said yes. Turns out she goes to another school near mine thats much larger than mine.

So I was there doing my thing, and she comes up to me, out of the other twenty or so people there, and we just talk about random stuff. It was pretty short, like 5 minutes or so. One of the other guys there then handed me a pamphlet for the place they all had internships. Then when the shift was over, everyone was leaving, and she smiled at me and said, "Bye, it was nice meeting you". She didn't say bye to anyone else there.

Later I was going to the bathroom and I passed her and some of her friends in the crowded hallway. She just smiled at me and waved, and I did the same. I always get infatuated pretty fast but I think this is the fastest I've ever been infatuated with someone. She was very pretty, and we were able to make good conversation (albeit short).

At the end of the day, I was told to go door-to-door to see if anyone needed help cleaning, and I skipped all the doors and went straight to the room where she was working. I walked in and asked if they needed any help, and they told me that i could carry some stuff outside. So I walked to the end of the room where the stuff I needed to carry was, and I glanced at her. She was looking at me but as soon as we made eye contact, she turned away. I left and said goodbye. As im walking out, im just thinking how stupid i was for not asking for her number, but then i realized I wouldve had to ask her in front of her friends and colleagues.

And then i remembered I have the pamphlet. What should I do? Should I give up? Is she even interested in me? Should I use the pamphlet and find her, or is it too creepy? Idk, guys. I just wanted to get this out there. A lot of times, my friends give me conflicting/faulty advice, so i just wanna hear some opinions. Much thanks guys. If anything needs clarifying i'll do so.

So I played my first night of Mono-U Tron this week. I went 1-2-1 I went to time first game against Affinity, Lost to burn my second match and then I lost to blue moon. The blue moon match almost went to time in the first game.

My question is, when do you remand vs when is the best time to hard counter? I got desperate in my burn match having to remand burn spells to try and find a hard counter.

Usually you would side out remand against burn, it's not great against it. However, Chalice of the Void on one is great against burn. Also batterskull. Those cards are good in many other match ups than burn also so it's great to use them.

But if you keep in remand, never remand the 1cmc cards unless they won't be able to cast it again. Remand eidolon, or any other card with Cmc higher than 1. Hard counter Boros charm if it's the multicolor version, eidolon, (those are all that I can think off the top of my head) at first. Start hard countering when you're about to die. But really, chalice is a house against burn. And most aggro. And storm. And Gr tron.

Hi guys. Im a mono u player looking to build into UR. Im just wondering, how different is the gameplan for UR than mono u? and is this deck more difficult to pilot than mono u (Mono u is very skill intensive for me, but ive put up decent results at my lgs)?

What do you guys and gals think about Ratchet Bomb vs aggro?
You can play it and activate it immediately against affinity to get rid of their Thopters, Memnites and Mox Opals!
Or you can wait a turn and then clear the board vs zoo for example. Also, what do you think about Sigiled Starfish as a blocker and as a way of filtering your draws which is very important in this deck! Smile

I've been thinking about ratchet bomb too, since I run fabricate and could tutor for it. It seems good but also just a hair slow. Like for a turn 2 ratchet bomb it won't be until turn 3 to wipe out 1 drops, and turn 4 to kill 2 drops, which are probably the biggest problem in the deck (bob, goyf, ravager, merfolk lords, etc.)

I kinda wanna try engineered explosives in that slot. We have mana rocks to play it for 2.

Signaled starfish is awesome. Sadly, zoo has wild nacatl, affinity has evasion, and while it can block merfolk, merfolk has lords and islandwalk. It can block Dark Confidant tho and that is great. Also, we already have a bunch of draw and filter through condescend and remand, thirst, etc. if only starfish had 4 toughness... Try it out tho, I could be underestimating it Grin

As for the mana leak discussion, I enjoy playing leak in conjunction with remand. I'm currently playing 2 leak 4 remand. I don't want 4 leak because it sucks late game, but in early game leak is good, and late game remanding a spell then leaking it is also good. So I think if you want mana leak, usually only 1-2 is good, at least from my testing.

Rune snag seems pretty interesting, though it does take away from the tempo aspect a little and puts us further in the control spectrum. I will try it out though and see.

Squelch basically does all that, and also hits fetches. It also hits ravager saccing itself in affinity, I think. Don't quote me on that, I'd have to check. Squelch is just a random speed bump that can throw off an opponent and screw with their tempo, giving us the all important extra turns and digging us closer to tron.

But great discussion guys. I have been following the deck for half a year now and I can already see how it's evolved since I began modern

It's to mitigate life loss from his main deck dismembers I'm assuming

Sounds pretty cool. However, I think its probably insanely overkill against control, which we are already good against, and a bit slow against aggro and combo. Having combo pieces in hand like colossus or noxious revival takes the place of valuable disruption against those decks. Also, Shape Anew is a sorcery, which is not ideal. To me at least, your curve is a little skewed, with 8 four drops, which also clutter your hand in the early game. Its a great idea, it just needs some developing.

I tried trading post and when it's good, it's amazing. But when it's bad, it's pretty much a dead card. It's an artifact Academy Ruins and that's great, but it feels so much like a win more card. It shines in slower grinds match ups where we are already favored but comes in too late against aggro, where we most definitely need work.

I played it when i did U/R tron, and recurring Engineered Explosives to repeatedly wipe the board was great, but in other games where it was too fast for me to get out a finisher or I didn't draw Trinket Mage or explosives, it was dead. It's mana cost is what really irks me though, you'd be better off playing simulacrum, and I'm not even a fan of that card. it's ultimately a very clunky card and it takes away some consistency for a little bit of power. The deck is pretty tight on space so even though it's a good card I don't know if what amounts to a 4cmc academy ruins that doesn't produce mana should be played over a singleton simulacrum or something. Idk if it would run differently in mono u though, but that's my experience

After a tourney at my LGS, I saw these two guys playing casually. One played affinity and the other Storm. I asked to play next game and the affinity guy said "What deck?" I replied, "Tron." "RG Tron?" Affinity guy asked. "Mono Blue." I said. He rolled his eyes and said, "Oh god, not that matchup." I said, "What? Isnt Blue tron a good matchup for you?" He shook his head and replied, "Not as good as you think. You just get Platinum Angel and I cant do anything, or mindslaver to sac all my guys to Ravager. What can I do, hope for galvanic blast or die?" He looked at my deck and picked it up: "What's in here anyway?" He perused it's contents. "Yeah, and you want me to play against you, with your maindeck Chalice of the Void? No thanks." and he went back to playing the storm guy.

I have never seen an affinity player who was scared of Mono Blue tron before. But in my opinion, affinity is probably the easiest of our bad matchups. Thats not to say it isnt hard, but we have more ways to deal with affinity than say, Merfolk. We got repeal for their early guys, chump blockers in Treasure/Trinket Mage, OStone(albeit very slow), mindslaver and platinum angel to shut them down. And if you play Chalice, its all the easier. I dunno, just my two cents.

Architect deck seems pretty interesting. Maybe it should get its own primer someday, under MonoU Architect Tron or something. Great brewing guys!

Hi guys. For those running a Fabricate or Trinket Mage package, I'm wondering ifElixir of Immortality could be any good against aggro. It restores 1/4 of our life, which could mean an extra turn or two for us. Late game it also recycles our used counterspells and things. Will test the next modern tourney I go to.
