    I really think Bane of Progress is underrated / underused. Sure, it's no spot removal, but a lot of decks are killed by this kind of boardwipe.
    And cmc 6 is a lot easier to cast than cmc 8.

    I definitely never played it with this kind of non-budget cards, but I still tell you my opinion Smile

    1. You'll play both monoliths and the rings anyway, so the only question is if Power Artifact is worth it. If you have only two targets and not many ways to tutor for it, I think you can cut it.

    2. Invoke Prejudice looks good, if the 4 blue are no concern for you, but I would...
    3. ... prefer The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale by a lot! Auto include, because it buys you time. You will be playing the controll game, not the fastest combo deck out there. Every stupid mana dork can attack your Walker. They will be down before you play Prejudice, and will go against your Winter Orb plans, but Tabernacle takes care.

    4. Extra turns, yes! You are likely to play Teferi (by turn 3-4 maybe), use his minus and take that extra turn. Now, it's your turn again and you untap with 6, plus Teferi-mana for Karn, Ugin, Rift, Sunder or what ever you have that (basically) wins you the game.
    You can even include Savor the Moment, because you can untap with Teferi or Tezzeret.

    I dismantled my deck a while ago, but it should be fun to run it post-Paradox Engine time.
    Not sure if effects like Blinkmoth Well are worth it, to tap your own Orbs down...

    I'm brewing on a list with Akiri, Line-Slinger and Silas Renn, Seeker Adept, to take advantage of the tokens (and have access to be the best colors).
    Not quite content with this, yet...

    Am I the only one thinking, that the card would be better without the "win the game" thing? Just some casual token generator. No need to remove that...

    Marionette Master should be really funny with the treasures.

    I think Vial Smasher the Fierce looks nice for a controllish kind of deck, where you are able to play spells in every turn.
    He doesn't synergies with storm, because he only cares for the first spell, and in itself he has no syneries with reanimator (outside of being black).

    From power level, you should (of course) favor the blue partner. Going to 4 colors is likely the strongest option.

    So, I guess Thrasios, Triton Hero and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix would be my first pics.
    Silas Renn, Seeker Adept may be an alternativ for Grixis colors, if you find the right artifact shell.

    Not sure if you can build an agresive (competitive) list with Tymna the Weaver in Mardu.
    Stax is always and option. Maybe with the flashy-hatebears...

    Thinks that haven't been mentioned until now (i think):
    landfall -> my Marath deck like the "basic fetches" because they are basically two lands ETB
    Urborg -> they ETB untapped, so if anybody has Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, they can tap right away

    I guess this is the question of this thread, and I would disagree with you.
    Sure, any deck can win, sometimes (in German we say: a blind hen finds some corn, once in a while), but Boros is less likely to being able to compete, the more competitive it gets.

    Elesh norn and Avacyn are not relevant, without a way to cheat them into play.

    Boros is also the best combination for Mass Land Destruction. Quickly develop a board and then lock everyone out. Not friendly, but it is definitely an edge Boros has. You can do some pretty dumb things with Aurelia, the Warleader as well.


    Talking about MLD in combination with a 6 or 7 CMC Commander (Aurelia / Gisela) is kind of strange.
    I really think Boros should bring there MLD to the cEDH tables, but you need an impactfull Commander at 2-4 CMC, that provides some synergy with Stax strategies.

    The 2 Partners, Tajic or Kalemne fall into this range regarding the CMC, but you need a lot of piece to fall into place, if you wincon is attacking 3 players, 3-4 times each, unblocked / unopposed.

    From my point of view, this Boros deck will be better, if you add another color, or maybe even going mono colored.

    Good call, I think Unexpectedly Absent is better.
    Song is great, if you are in mono green or red/green. But adding white gives you so much great removal.

    You might want to take a look at some of the better hate-cards. So instant of looking for removal, you are looking for answers (like Rest in Peace or Containment Priest).
    An additional angle would be to check, if you can tutor for your answers. This increases your "removal" by a very large margin.

    I would like to know, if any of you ever tried playing with Archenemie / Schemes in Commander. Is there a place where card choices for a Scheme deck can be discussed (no decklists in the main forum)?
    Are there any other restrictions you do before hand, to make sure both sides are on an equal power level?

    I was playing a (proxied) Schemes deck a few times (originals are in the mail) and it was always good for a quick game. It seemed, however, that one side gathered an advantage very fast (mostly depending on the decks and if we played 2vs1 or 3vs1).

    Have you ever tried highly competitive decks as the Archenemie?

    Would you say that 20 lands is enough? I run 28, plus Land Tax, Tithe and Crucible of Worlds, but still, you need 2 lands in your starting hand and hitting the third one soon.

    So Fragmentize is to kill Stony Silence which hoses alot of our cards and Aetherflux. I was thinking of running Erase in addition.

    Balan is too expensive for what this deck wants to be doing. Equipping him doesnt do much as he still wont be able to kill anyone.
    I want a bloodforged battle axe pretty badly for the deck i must say haha

    I do need to pick up a dispatch, good call!

    Tithe worries me if they have open mana haha

    recruiter ive considered. i may have to toss him in here. Smile he's going on the maybelist. its funny, maybe now ill finally get to play puresteel paladin if i include him since ive NEVER had PP in a hand.

    Ive considered stoneforge mystic but i also dont run open the armory either, since usually there's 1-2 targets i ever want to hit.

    usually i dont have an issue with lands, even with the new mulligan rule, due to all of our fast mana. I've even considered going down to 18. Usually i hit a cost reducer+sram then draw into the rest of my lands.


    I understand that Stony Silence is an issue, but I still don't like the sorcery speed of Fragmentize. Have you considered Abolish? Not enough Plains, I guess...

    My list is not as fast and focused as yours, so I guess, for me, Balan, Wandering Knight is another wincon, being able to equip all these +1/+1 and +2/+0 things. But I see your point.

    I guess there is a gazillion hatebears on a maybe-list, depending on your meta. No need, room for Rest in Peace, Containment Priest, Aven Mindcensor....?

    I need to consider Remote Farm. Never seen the card before...

    Hmm, this seems to be a god hand, plus the perfect 8th and 9th cards.
    Are there many ways that let you ramp to turn 1 Depala?
    And to 6 mana turn 2?

    I do run a mono-white and a mono-red deck and in both cases the commander is drawing me cards (Sram and Daretti). There is really no commander in boros that is helping in this aspect.
    So, I would agree with others here saying: boros has good cards, but it is laking viable commander options. Not all of them are bad, but almost all boros legends are boring / combat-oriented. Any other color combo has more different / exciting options.

    I had missed that this was non-optional and can be added to the relatively short list of ways to force triggers from Ob Nixilis, Unshackled. Forced search effects for everyone are effective there.

    Dowsing Dagger seems to be a very strong card, but I'm not sure, if it will make the cut in my Sram deck. It comes down after Sram (so turn 3, very likely) and I need another 2 mana to equip (so turn 4 maybe?). After that, I need to connect, befor I get to ramp 2 basically.
    In some corner cases I could transform it turn 3 or even turn 2, but most of the time, I'd rather play Sram and drop some 1 cmc Equipements/Auras after that. And next turn, we are looking at the high impact stuff, like the swords.

    So, maybe the card is more tempting, than really good.
