This deck is dead. It is just isn't very good, especially vs the current meta.

Lol. You're going on 2 weekends? One where it performed well and then one where players adjusted accordingly? You're right, mise well give up. Clearly BtL is dirt and we should feel like dirt for playing it. Can a mod close this thread? Nothing to see here.

While some kind of sac themed BG could certainly exist around Blisterpod, Catacomb Sifter and Smothering Abomination, it's pretty obvious OP is pulling his/her testing and tournament "results" out of thin air.

Uh huh, "thin air" not by playing the deck in tourny and then for hours each day practicing and testing...not at all.the sac theme was the base idea it has changed...then abominations give you cards late game. The eldrazi mob the board with chump blockers or sac for ramp..

    Anywho.
I love tomb of the spirit dragon, great addition

Your manabase can't even cast the cards in your deck/sideboard and then you say things like "testing has shown dual lands are not worth it". You also reject hangarback walker as winmore when it's pretty much the best card imaginable for this sort of deck. So yeah, I'm not buying that you have tested the deck for hours per day (let alone that it has placed high in tournaments).

This. I was tempted to not pile on but seeing as how OP continues to make ridiculous claims...
Your deck is basically the Cutthroat Aristocrats deck without the best cards. You're missing the Blood Artist effect because you seem set on playing 2 color without duals in a standard format that has the best mana we've seen in years. Bring to Light decks are the bees knees right now and they don't mind taking some life loss. If you played Abzan you could basically have a " free splash" of white by adding duals. There's no drawback.

And your last comment about Hangarback Walker doesn't even warrant a response. Not only am I positive you haven't tested him, I'm quite certain you've never even went against one. That's not even how he works.

If you're playing on a budget, its not frowned upon to say so. If you have access to fetches and Hangarbacks, I sincerely suggest giving them another try.

Are you expecting a lot of Infinite Obliterations the first couple weekends of a brand new format? I wouldn't.

As a sideboard card in every deck that runs black, including Abzan? Definitely.

It's always fun to look at predictions after the fact. At SCGO Indianapolis, only a single deck in Top 64 ran Infinite Obliteration.

LOL. That doesn't mean it's a bad card. Turn 3 infinite obliteration neuters 5 color bring to light decks.

What are you naming? Bring to Light? OK, I'll just draw into my Siege Rhinos. Are you naming Rhino? Oh look, the entire point of the deck is to pay 5 mana to tutor whatever I want and cast it. I guess I'll beat you with Ojutai instead.
Edit- I reread Infinite Obliteration. Its worse than I thought. You have to name a creature. I'm pretty sure Bring to Light exists specifically to hose Inf Ob. Not the other way around.

  • posted a message on Does Jace's current power level warrant the new high price?
I knew during spoiler season that Jace was head-and-shoulders above the other planeswalkers. After seeing what BFZ has given us and how the meta is shaking out, I think $80 is a good price and likely where he'll stay. The issue is how good the mana is. Every deck can play 4 Jaces and many of them want to. Or certainly 1 or 2 of them. And the "dies to Doom Blade" argument doesn't really apply here. A 2 mana walker that must be dealt with in a format where removal is bad. The best way to counter a Jace is to play your own. I think anyone that has an argument of why is price is going to come down is trying to convince themselves.

I'm glad someone else sees the value of this card. To me, its like the Aristocrats deck but your Blood Artist and your sac outlet are on the same card. Personally I went B/G for cards like Courser and Reaper of the Wilds but its entirely possible that white is the better splash. Or both. A link to my deck is below. I'm not sure on the manabase and the sb is a work in progress but I have a bunch of "maybes" that need testing. BTW, your English is fine Smile

Considering selling all my cards too, but I think I'll wait first and see if this s**tty new client is here to stay or the community feels like me and they'll bring back V3.

The client is really the deciding factor for me as well. But the feedback is so overwhelmingly negative that the fact they're still pushing it worries me. If ever a company has completely ignored what its users want, its now. And I have a problem with that philosophically. They seem to be chalking it up to "they just don't like change." When, in reality, its unplayable. And trading/deck building is a nightmare. It's so far away from being decent. I think if they were gonna revert back to v3, they wouldn't have set the deadline in the first place. They already look bad. But going back to the old one makes them look entirely inept. I never thought I'd say it, but I'd rather support Blizzard than Wizards right now. And thats why I want to get talked out of it. My head says 'screw magic." My heart says "But I love magic.'

At this time 1 year ago, I sold my collection of paper magic cards and invested the money in MTGO. There were several factors that led to this decision but mainly:
    1. Its cheaper.
    2. I work 3rd shift full time and can't attend tournaments.
I bought in as INN block was rotating so I only needed to buy 4 sets worth of cards to play standard. I figured since it was a rotating format, I could sell off rares that I didn't plan on using and hopefully win enough to fund my hobby. Now, with rotation again approaching, I find that I'm hemorrhaging money. Every piece of common sense I have tells me to hang on to the shocklands, but I pretty much have to sell them to get whatever I need out of Khans. Not to mention the rest of that block. On top of that, I despise the new client. But that goes without saying. I've only recently tried out Hearthstone, but I like it a lot and I'm about to fork over the $50 for their 40 pack of cards....regardless, of what I decide to do with MTGO. I know there's other people considering the same thing I am. So should I sell my entire MTGO collection now while there's still some value? Or hang on to what I've got just in case they turn things around?

You're right. But there's situations where its correct. The beauty of working on something this far in advance of rotation is that we have 3 months to decide if its worth it. Plus, there's a whole nother set to find replacements for the cards that don't work. I expect the mana base to get a lot better. And hopefully, a handful of good artifacts to throw at their face.

Yeah, I can see where the Shrapnel Blast/artifact part may just be filler. But the idea of Chording for 0 to find an Ornithopter and then flinging it for 5 seems good. Especially if that damage can get forked to a creature.

With the 2 Evolving Wilds, its essentially 5 mountains...but you're probably right.

Heliod's Pilgrim finds Chained when we need removal or Spectra Ward if we have a beater out.

Chord has plenty of targets but Shrapnel Blast is the card that makes Ornithopter, Revoker, and Firedancer MD material. If we already have Blast and an artifact, Chord for Firedancer. Otherwise, it can find whatever.
Eidolon is the card draw engine that brings it all together. Its not a dedicated constellation deck, but she's gonna refill your hand in the midgame...if not just act as a lightning rod for removal.
Ajani digs us deeper as well and finds Elspeth.
It doesn't have the sheer power of other decks because its heavy on removal and hate bears (especially in the SB). Plus, for now, it has 4 sets to work with. Lol

So I'm sure someone will point out that rotation is 3 months away and that we have no idea what Khans will bring. But I've been sick of this standard for months and I'm hoping the v4 client of MODO will be playable by then. Until then, I'm not playing standard so my brews will be for post rotation purposes.
With that being said, I'm really proud of this one. There's some sick synergies and there's enough tutoring that we should be able to make it happen even though the 1 ofs mean our draws will have a lot of variance. Lemme know what you think!

That's how I feel. A year ago at this time, I thought I wanted rotation to happen. More because of the speed of the format than certain cards or archetypes. Although, Thragtusk was annoying. But right now I can't wait for rotation because the format is stagnant. We need things shaken up. I'll miss certain cards from RTR but not as bad as Innistrad block

I could drone on about specific experiences but I would say that the percentage of poor sports on MODO is exceedingly higher than in paper magic. Perhaps it's a matter of not seeing the person face to face but I think the caliber of person is probably lower (ie shut-ins).

Also, as someone caught between the area of trying out new brews but using tier 1 cards to build them, I often have trouble deciding between the JFF room or getting my ass handed to me by MBD and not truly getting a read of how my deck performs. I've literally been told I was "wasting everyone's time" in the tournament practice room (following a match win) and in the very next game in the JFF room asked if "tournament practice was closed or something." You just can't win with people like that.

The synergy this card has with Bane Alley Broker, Dimir Charm, Notion Thief, and to a lesser extent Duskmantle Seer is mind blowing. Yeah, its good by itself...but let's think outside the box. This card is broken good. Mark my words: standard is going to be redefined by this unassuming 1 drop uncommon.

I don't see any synergy with Bane Alley Broker at all.

Perhaps the triggers wouldn't work the way I'm picturing. Couldn't you activate Dakra Mystic, after the reveal, activate Bane Alley Broker to draw the card, then choose to pitch the cards into the GY (which would just be your opponent's?
