  • posted a message on Nullhide Ferox and Re-equip
In order for your Nullhide Ferox to regain flying the ability from Cobbled Wings would indeed need to gain a new timestamp. So would need to be removed from the Ferox and then re-equipped. Just paying the equip cost without moving the Wings wouldn't do anything.

  • posted a message on Aura Enchantment returning from exile
When an aura enters the battlefield and it wasn't cast, such as returning from being exiled by an Ixalan's Binding, then it doesn't actually target. You just select a legal object and put the enchantment on to it.

So yes, Arena should have given you the choice of where to put your returning Luminous Bonds.
Not encountered this particular interaction, so not sure if you hit an actual bug/glitch. Or if the interaction just happened very quickly and you potentially clicked through it.

  • posted a message on {GRN] Can you respond to Charnel Troll's ability during your upkeep?
It is programmed into Arena, as I have pulled off the interaction a few times myself. What you need is to do on Arena is make sure you have a stop set up on your Upkeep.

  • posted a message on Ravnica Allegiance Mechanics ( Spectacle, Afterlife, Adapt, Riot, Addendum)
The art looks good and I'm glad to see a wider variety of demons. Spectacle seems good and not how I expected. I'm wondering if it will be used to reduce mana costs also, sort of like Prowl.

The answer to that is yes, as we have already seen one where the Spectacle cost is less (Light up the Stage). Just you don't get any added bonus effect for casting it with the Spectacle cost, at least on that card. But the reduced mana helps that card all the same.

I believe the answer is ‘Yes’, but, does Rakdos, Lord of Riots reduce the cost of Spectacle?

Well you are still casting the spell when you use the Spectacle cost, so yes Rakdos' cost reduction ability would reduce the cost of Spectacle. At least going on current rules interaction.

Now I'm starting to get excited for this set, can't wait to see what the other guilds get.

So that is the Rakdos' MMNN draft card. Seems pretty good. 4/3 body for 4, that shocks your opponent and a creature or planeswalker.
That gives some evidence towards Spectacle being either the opponent having taken damage or a creature dying I guess.

As four out of five of those cards in GRN worked well with their guilds mechanic. Selsenya's gave you tokens. Golgari's cared about the graveyard. Izzet's cared about instant/sorceries. Boros' had Mentor. Only Dimir's was just a powerful value card, which goes with Surveil being just value.

  • posted a message on Kaalia and on attack triggers
No, your dragons (including Atarka) would NOT get Double Strike.
Atarka wasn't declared as an attacker, so her ability doesn't trigger for itself. And also when the other dragons were declared as attackers, Atarka was still in your hand. For Atarka's ability to trigger it needs to be on the battlefield before you declare attackers.

    Hope that helps.

Please remember to use card tags:
    Laccolith Rig

If you use Laccolith Rig's ability to kill a creature, then that creature will be dead as you correctly said in the Declare Blockers step, which is long you get to the combat damage step.

    Team gate watch

    UR rakdos

It so weird and creepy that team gatewatch gets two out of three of the grixis colors combos especially rakdos

Weird, right? One would think that the promise of undead Eternal armies rampaging through Ravnica would be enough for Rakdos to jump on board. Maybe they just want all the mayhem to be their own.

To be fair, most members of the Cult of Rakdos don't actually care about chaos and disorder. They are just all about pleasure/fun, even if it causes pain to others. They are the 'entertainers' of Ravnica after all.

And Rakdos himself doesn't seem like the sort of demon would want to serve anyone else. And to want to usurp Rakdos, Bolas' RB planeswalker would have to not be in their right mind. And I can't think of anyone that could fit that descr..... oh wait Tibalt.... but I don't even think Bolas would want him around.

  • posted a message on Treachery vs Shroud
While Treachery doesn't have the word 'target' printed on it, it doesn't need it. As the rules for Enchant include the word target. Aura's when cast always target what they enchant.
So no, you can't Treachery anything with Shroud or anything your opponent has with Hexproof.

    Hope that helps.

  • posted a message on Helm of the host vs Ragavan legendary token
One of the tokens would have to be sacrificed.

The two Kari zev, skyship raiders will be fine since the token is not legendary.

Slight correction. The Legend rule doesn't cause you to sacrifice anything. They are simply put into the graveyard.
This is relevant to things that care specifically about you sacrificing something.

    Izzet: Thousand-Year Storm confirmed here.

    Well that actually surprises me.
This actually raises a question then, as so far we have been under the impression that the only possible mythics you could open were the Guild leaders. So is it possible to get the other guild mythics? (Underrealm Lich, Chance for Glory, etc.) Or does this take the spot of Ral, as maybe they didn't want to give people easy access to the Planeswalkers.

Has anyone actually opened a promo Ral or Vraska?

  • posted a message on Affectionate Indrik
Affectionate Indrik's ability says YOU MAY have it fight target creature an opponent controls. Like all may abilities, the choice to use that ability happens when the ability resolves.
So you put the ability on the stack targeting your opponent's creature, say a 2/2. If they cast Pack's Favor in response, for example, then when the ability resolves, you can simply choose to decline the fight, since it is a may ability. However once the ability starts to resolve, your opponent has no further chance to respond and pump their creature.

    Added rule for reference:
603.5. Some triggered abilities’ effects are optional (they contain “may,” as in “At the beginning of your upkeep, you may draw a card”). These abilities go on the stack when they trigger, regardless of whether their controller intends to exercise the ability’s option or not. The choice is made when the ability resolves. Likewise, triggered abilities that have an effect “unless” something is true or a player chooses to do something will go on the stack normally; the “unless” part of the ability is dealt with when the ability resolves.

Hope that helps explain things for you.

Short question, if Lazav copys something with an ability that refers to its own name, will that abilty still work or will it do nothing becouse the name (Lazav) is not the same as the name of the card that he copied?

for example if Lazav, the Multifarious copys Dimir Spybug, will he get a +1/+1 counter for each Surveil?
It will work. Everything that refers to itself by name really means "this card", unless it specifically uses the word "name".

if you copy Etrata, the silencer with lazav, and get through for the damamge, would the etrata trigger force you to shuffle in lazav? i cant think of a way to avoid it without blink, or maybe changing into a creature with shroud in responce

Yes, you would indeed have to shuffle Lazav back into your library. As mentioned above, whenever a card's text refers to itself, such as on Etrata, it means "this permanent". So the ability will shuffle Lazav into your library.
Changing Lazav from Etrata to something with shroud won't help. The Etrata ability only targets the creature it exiles, so giving Lazav shroud doesn't change anything about what the ability does. You need to bounce/blink Etrata (or Lazav pretending to be her) to avoid shuffling it into your library.

    wut?

"Inside, you'll get six normal Guilds of Ravnica boosters plus a special "seeded" booster. This contains one of eight different rares or mythic rares as your Prerelease card, plus a ton of cards to give you a head start on building a two-color deck of that guild. There are some themes in the boosters built around the rares/mythic rare that you open (not to mention some mana fixing!) so this should really help your deck fire off on all cylinders."

source: prerelease primer (image with 6 boosters)

Hmm, how strange. Yeah that article is just wrong. Every other article and posting on the official site has the correct information.
You get FIVE Guilds of Ravnica boosters and one seeded booster. For a total of SIX packs.

I'm betting since they do a prerelease primer article for every set, and the majority of the time there is little difference in how prereleases work, this was just a typo that slipped through. But poor form Wizards, poor form.

so wait... for example, if i choose golgari, i will be able to open only hatchery spider, mausoleum secrets, assassin's trophy, charnel troll, izoni and vraska right?
while blood operative, mission briefing, mnemonic betrayal, thief of sanity, etrata and lazav are the dimir options?
and what about selesnya? they don' have a green-associated rare

Don't count Mnemonic Betrayal, since it's a mythic. You're looking for Unmoored Ego. It's possible that Bounty of Might will be absorbed into Selesnya's seeded pack pool.

Selesnya's mono-green rare is the one I couldn't figure out as well when I was counting up for each guild.
So the possibilities are Pelt Hunter, Bounty of Might or Beast Whisperer. Oh, or Vivid Renewal I guess, but that feels like it would fit more into Golgari. Based on the flavor and art on those choices, I guess Bounty of Might makes the most sense for Selesnya.

So yeah, as your promo it seems the possibilities you can get are Guild Leader, Guild champion, split card, gold instant/sorcery, gold permanent (would have said creature, but Izzet had to be different and go for an enchantment), or one of the mono-colored rares for that guild. Which makes 7 possibilities. In previous sets, we have had 8 possibilities, but I have no idea which cards Wizards would throw in as the 8th possibility.
