I've been wanting to make a WB deck for a whole now and all three of these creatures are great for commanders. But why choose just one? I'm looking to build a deck where I can swap out these commanders for each other. Karlov of the Ghost Council will be the main general, so lifelink creatures and the such are a given. I need sac engines and sac fodder for Teysa, Orzhov Scion and Athreos, God of Passage. Here's the trick though... I need these cards to have as much overlap as possible so they work with either strategy. Like something that gains you life for saccing a dude, etc. Anybody got any ideas or cutty tech that would allow me to pull this of without making the deck go in too many directions?

    My current possible subthemes are:

Low power/CMC (Mentor of the Meek, Austere Command, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Sun Titan, etc.)
Church/religion/afterlife (angels, spirits, clerics, demons, recursion, stained glass)
Life as a resource (Phyrexian Arena, Greed, Bloodgift Demon, etc.)

I'd like the deck to be relatively strong, but not busted, and very flavorful. Awesome flavor will probably win over insane power when it comes time to cut cards (which is why I'm looking for cards like Righteous Cause that are strong in the build and fits a WB religion theme like a glove). Thanks all.

It's a fine card, but it does have a significant drawback in that it requires you to hold back mana to activate it.
That's why I feel it would work in a control build or a build with cost reducers. Something like Oloro, GAAIV or Narset. Actually, scratch Narset, she doesn't usually run enough creatures to make it worth it.

I love this card so much I bought three copies. My third one is going into Karlov Smile

    Sigil of the New Dawn

I have been playing Magic off and on since Revised, been playing EDH since a few years before it was dubbed "Commander" and I just found out about this card and I haven't, to my recollection, ever seen anyone run it. It seems like a great insurance policy against many wrath effects and/or CA in sac decks. Am I missing something? Why is this a fifty cent card that nobody runs?

One part of me thinks this would be an awesome cycle. The other part of me thinks Wizards wouldn't do it. But the idea is awesome. Something like:

    Swamp by Day
    Land
T: Add B to your mana pool.
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, transform ~.

    Island by Night
    Land
T: Add U to your mana pool.
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, transform ~.

Sort of a play off of River of Tears.
We don't need to use our brain too much to understand that such a cycle is completely impossible: you can't have a cycle of lands that potentially flip every single turn! That's why 99% of the forum should stay miles away from anything concerning design & development discussions... Grin
I actually think it's pretty fun idea. That said it would be fairly maintenance heavy once you have 4-5 flip lands in play Smile
And that's exactly why half of me thinks DFC lands would never see print.

@king: The card I presented was simply to represent a concept and was not meant to be a finished card. This is exactly why 99% of your ass should shut the **** up, ********.

No checklands please...how about finishing the fast-land cycle? The BG, UR, and WB ones would see HEAVY play in Modern. So so so much better than a lazy reprint of checks.
Highly unlikely in my opinion. When KTK and FRF rotate out we'll have those cycles of duals in Standard:

    Ally: BattleLands
    Enemy: Manlands, Painlands

That leaves a free slot for Ally duals, and this even without taking into consideration the possibility that OGW brings us the Enemy BattleLands, which I think is unlikely (eight or more rare duals in a small set?). Moreover, only Enemy pairs have access to ETB untapped duals on turn 1, and if you've read this article by Sam Stoddard, that's the kind of thing R&D definitely evaluates when designing new sets.

That leads me to the conclusion that we can safely rule out something like Enemy Fastlands, and that's fairly possible to get a new design Ally colors cycle of duals.

I don't know if it's going to be a new design, reprints or completing a cycle, but I agree with the conclusion that we are due for an ally cycle of duals with the allied colored fetches rotating out of standard.

Since DFCs pretty much have to return in SOI, being the most notable mechanic from the entire INN block, I'm hoping we'll get us some DFC duals with a trigger to mirror that of the Werewolves and other day/night transformation triggers.

Spikes are gonna hate this. I can't wait to hear them lament about how they would have placed in the top eight had they not been paired up with some "scrub". Really tho, I don't know exactly how this is gonna work, and I assume they won't force you to play two-headed, but at the same time it sounds like it is encouraged. Can you play both decks by yourself, cuz I don't have any Magic playing friends?

I think the new cards are mostly awesome. There are some awesome reprints too. That said...

So many missed opportunities and omitted cards. The RW deck lacking Brion is just... huh? And I don't expect filters or fetches, but not even checks, pains or scrylands? What!?! Even cheap, simple synergy, like O-Ring or Jounrney to Nowhere in the BW enchantment deck is missing. I know the idea is to give us a base shell to swap cards in and out of to make the deck out own, but there just seems like they went too far in that direction and the out of the box experience seems like it will suffer as a result. So many cards that feel like they showed up in the wrong decks. I understand its a fine line to walk between printing enough value to make these appealing yet not put in too much value to create scarcity and hoarding, between making a product you want to customize a bit and a product that isn't worth buying the whole thing, but singles instead, but it just feels like it fell short. I bought all five of the first release, only one of the past two releases and will likely only get singles this time around. I really feel like the design of their products as of late, especially MM15, has just been either lazy or greedy. At least they have been able to blur the line between those two things. Sad face. /my2cents

I'm really interested in seeing the full BW deck list now. There is no overlap in synergy between daxos and this guy, so I really want to know how WOTC is going to make it feel like a cohesive deck.
    Enchantments that gain you life?

Not a card you'll really want to play in New Ezuri's deck (where it's most likely in).

Still, it has some cool applications. Kickass art, too.

Why not? Cast this, cast/recast Ezuri before the end phase...this thing kicks off again and give you a bunch of experience and ETBs....seems cool.
Derp, I totally missed the end step part. I guess I should RTFC, eh?

Steel Hellkite was in both the blue and red decks last year. So, even at rare, there is still a slight chance it can be in multiple decks.

The Commander rarity system is only for new cards, not for reprints.

Really though, it should have read "non-commander creatures" so Ezuri could at least benefit from it, or at the very least, not die from it. He has already been compleated, so it's kind of a flavor fail in that sense. Blue-based token decks will like it a lot though. Oona anyone?

It's been said before, many times, once already in this short thread of one-and-a-half pages that RARITY OF NEW CARDS PRINTED IN COMMANDER PRODUCTS IS BASED ON THE FREQUENCY THEY APPEAR IN THE DECKS. New mythics and rares appear in only one deck, new uncommons appear in all decks that contain that card's color and new commons appear in all five decks. Sorry if I sound like a dick, but how does someone with almost twenty EDH decks, who has been on MTGS for over five years and has made over 4,000 posts not know this? This has been the case for all four Commander products (I'm not counting Arsenal), so it's hardly news.

So far in Magic's history, the only Zombie Dragon other than this is Bladewing the Risen

Can you target the same creature/player more than once? I know you can't when it says "another", but unsure here. Great card if you can, kinda lame if not.
