Welcome to the Mom and Pop Thopter Giftshop. How may I help you :-p

Oh man So many ways to build thopter combo that I hope it doesnt get compared to splinter twin

Don't worry, Wizards may give you a full year before they ban it again.

They're going to ban something from Eldrazi, most likely eye of ugin, then unban nothing, then see how the post-twin post-eldrazi meta looks like, then perhaps act with an unban in another 3 months if linear aggro-combo decks are still the dominant ones. That's what's going to happen.

This is the most likely scenario, although not very exciting. THey'll just take Eye of Ugin and then wait to see what will happen in a Twinless, Eldraziless meta and perhaps act in the next upcoming B&R announcement.
I doubt it would be eldrazless if only one land gets banned. If one sol land is too good for the format then both are and they should ban accordingly.

Wizards is not smart enough for that.

I want the Nahiri for my collection and other than that the only card I care about is the 1cmc dispel for sorceries.

Pretty lame set for my taste. The flavor way overdid the cards that came along. Most things don't fit and a lot of stuff is not really meaningful to the story-telling either way.

    /:^'

Mind telling the rest of us the full story?

What? I think you are not really reading what I wrote.

Sorin is basically good for EDH only, unless standard has good board wipes or enough point removal, defenses to survive until you can drop him on. Which is unlikely looking at what is already spoiled and how tribal vampires are coming together.

The mana dork is just thrash at that rarity. Kind of the same feeling from when they put those 8-10 mana mythic spells that are completely unplayable in anything, even EDH.

If we had Wasteland in Modern, it would really push monocolored Aether Vial tribal aggro. Merfolk throws down a T1 Vial and wastes you T2 along with a 1-drop fish.

You know it isn't THAT hard to include basics on your decks, legacy has probably the biggest selection in manabase, insane powerful lands, wasteland is legal there and causes no problem, even if you were not expecting it, unless you pack no basics on your deck at all, which would be suicide against blood moon in any format its legal in, then it is just 1 turn where the opponent gets to attack with its 1 drop, if it was with vial, they would not even get that attack because they would have to tick up the vial first.

Wasteland is a one for one, which in magic terms means, I am using my land drop to take one of your powerful land drops. They will still lose that land as well, decks who benefit from doing wasteland trades on turn two are exclusively delver decks, no other decks has a good enough 1 drop for it to be worth it, you will still get to be 1 on 1 on lands with your opponent, before he can use 2 cmc cards. That is assuming the wasteland guy started first, because if you had first land drop, you will still get every extra land drop before your opponent.

And all of that is only assuming you had no basics in your deck, being able to run all non basics on your deck without punishment isn't really what I would say healthy for the format, everything needs to be regulated by something else, that is the principle of a healthy format, something that has no weak match ups is broken.

I personally see no problem with wasteland in modern, and I would dare say it would be a very nice addition because it would slow down play a bit, maybe give some other decks a chance to play stuff before they are aggroed to oblivion because of the lack of proper interaction in the format. The max value a wasteland on turn two can give is 1 turn with your one drop, assuming you started, the only deck fast enough in modern to use it, is affinity, and even they also want to have their second land drop generating mana or attacking instead.

The hints of this fourth, almost certainly WB Angel Sister are intriguing.
Seems likely we'll be seeing her this block... she may even be a factor in Avacyn's betrayal.

And it seems *highly* likely she may have something to do with Flight Moonsilver.

    Vampire Angel? Grin

I kid, though it would be an interesting concept

They should keep the angels pure. They could make as many demons they want to fight them. Do not mess with people heads. This is very personal for me. Angels should be good because they are angels.

You do realise that angels have been antagonists in Magic since the early days, right?

I welcome the return of white villains (of course, they're probably just going to color shift all of them so white isn't villainous).

Something something colorpie, something something red is the new black(the bad side of Avacyn is red in the card, I would still be having uncontrollable 5yo moments of extasis if the bad side had been black)

There are too many answers to both Jace and SFM for them to break the format as long as batterskull is not in it, however if the three are in at the same time, then you have your dream lock down scenario, T3 4/4 lifelink T4 Jace.

Without batterskull, there is not enough protection to keep your life total high enough to not die on the swingback from playing jace, or to keep him alive after his first activation. Same with SFM, she tutors an equipment, then puts it down, you can't spend the mana to equip it in a control deck because you need to leave open mana for stack interaction, and the only creature you have is SFM anyway. A sword will not break the game, pretty much everyone has artifact hate.

Neither of the cards has ever been the problem, it has always been and will always be batterskull, its what allows them to go off, its the barrier that protects them, without it they are just good magic cards, which many decks can handle with no problem. Specially aggro and burn.

  • posted a message on Modern players: would you play "Eternal"?
It would be the only format I would play competitively, and the only format in addition to multiplayer EDH that I would play at all, Standard is a horrible format to play and extremely inefficient due to the high rotation rate and insane prices, modern is broken due to the banlist and legacy is also way too expensive because of the reserved list containing all the cards you need to play the format. I also dislike limited formats.

I believe I have suggested a format similar to this one before, I strongly believe this is what should have existed instead of modern from the get go.

    @Warangel88

You might be right about everything but no one else has any evidence nor reason to believe it to be plausible because the existing information does not lead to it yet. So your theories at this moment are as valid as the Marit Lage ones. Not because they are wrong, but because there is nothing backing them(yet).

So we will continue to be skeptical about them for the time being. bunny

Could Nahiri have found Lilly and be working together?

Even if in fact she made the figures the cultists are using(still a guess), there would be no reason for the cultists to know how to use them in any way, or for them to have any usage outside of her(Nahiri) own magic. Nor would there be a reason for the cultist to side with her, they practice black magic, Nahiri uses white magic(with a new touch of red)

On the other hand, they would have almost no reason NOT to side with Lilly. She may(and this is a big may) have found something about the plane's moon as well, and made an agreement with Nahiri so she could bring even more devastation to Sorin's home plane, while also harnessing more power for herself(in this case Lilly).

That would be my crazy theory of the morning while at work.
    /Cheers

So I think pick the brain is another spoiler for the lab, and the vampire and bishop are spoilers for the manor and cathedral respectively that should not be enabled yet if anyone at marketing on WotC had a brain(guess they left it in a jar somewhere).

If that happens to be correct, then we still can land two other spoilers from the lab.
