What's the server, port, and password for the server everyone's using to play Cockatrice online? I know it's woogerworks but what do I have to enter in order to connect and play?

    Server: cockatrice.woogerworks.com
    Port: 4747

Username / Password are dependent on if you registered an account or not. Non-registered users can simply type a name that is not already registered in and the password means nothing. If you register an account you must enter the username/password combination used during registration.

You don't. You need the internet to download the card images in order for cockatrice to display them. If you want to place the images in the proper image locations prior to opening the client, the client will display the images accordingly without a connection to the internet.

The card window size can be resized by sliding the bar below it up or down. This will decrease the various boxes along that side accordingly.
One other thing you can do is you can click the middle mouse wheel over a card (in a game)and it will zoom in.

If you two haven't fixed your issue yet, try out the most recent weekly client build.
You can obtain them from the "Cockatrice Clients" link either under the "Cockatrice Menu" or "Downloads Menu" on the main woogerworks site.

  • posted a message on Any fully functional Cockatrice patch for M15?
My apologies, as I know there are a few threads with the M15 patches. But it seems that a lot of people were having trouble with both of them, myself included.

I was wondering if anyone knew of some combo of the right version of cockatrice and the right M15 patch where everything was all hunky dory. Or whatever it is I might be able to do to get it working for myself.

Is there a reason your not running the most recent client? As it has a working oracle tool that will download the sets you choose (including M15)

Does old Cockatrice (version .20111113) have a problem with new images being png instead of jpg?

I've just been manually updating as I need cards for a while. Was way less painful than banging my head against the wall every 3 months. And it's been fine. Now with M15 it seems the pngs are a no-go.

The zip file seemed to have fixed me. But just wondering if I need to update my procedure.

The most recent weekly compiled client adds support for other file types other than just JPG.
Try downloading it. There is a number of updates / bug fixes that get rolled into each weekly build and once all the issue's designated under the "Maintenance Release" on the github source site is achieved an actual full release will be announced.

You can compile cockatrice in Linux natively. No need for wine.

    My story...
I'm playing UR Pyromancer combo last standard and bring in Ral Zarek from the board vs control (not the best sideboard card but still okay). Anyways this guy is too busy disasembling my combo peices to worry about little old Ral and lets him get 7 loyalty. I go ahead and ultimate and tell him I'm going to just roll a D20 for coinflips and call even as heads. **** says he understand and to go ahead, so I roll and get a 20. Pretty cool I critical hit or what ever, but then it when it gets crazy. I roll 2 more times both times I roll 20's. He starts accusing me of cheating. I tell him "I swear I'm not cheating it must of been a fluke. Let me show you". I roll 3 more dice. ALL 20'S. "**** has left the game". I'm the only one that can appreciate what just happened. I just had a 1 in 64,000,000 chance roll, A once in a lifetime roll that almost no other person has ever managed to roll in their days of gaming and I was the only one that could appreciate it. If only **** could have been able to see what he had just witnessed then he would have a story to tell his grandchildren. He could have told them "When I was X many years old and still in my prime playing MTG on one of them desktop computer we used to have, I once saw a player roll 6 nat 20's in a row and right there and then I knew that I had been touched by god. To this day I have never felt such a powerful and godly presence as I did that fateful day." But instead he called me a cheater and left the game untouched.(I don't blame him I would have accused me if cheating too. I would like to believe I'm one of the luckiest men alive but it was probably just a glitch :()

This reminds me of a time we went to a casino (just me and a friend). Back then we played roulette. If you've never played roulette, one of the bets on the table you can make covers almost 33% of the table. There's 3 of them so if you bet on all 3 you basically break even (with the potential to loose on a 0,00) but if you bet on 2 your covering over 66% of the table. Now mathematically, if you bet on the same 2 bets (out of the 3) you have a very high likelihood you should get a win more often than a loss. Well my friend managed to loose 13 times in a row. 13!. Combine that with doubling his bet each loss made him walk away very unhappy LoL. Long story short..... these things rarely happen but they do.

Cheating is against the "code of conduct" for the cockatrice server I host.

    Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Cockatrice aims to provide a fun and fulfilling gameplay experience for all users. Playing games to intentionally detract from the enjoyment of other users will not be tolerated.

This includes, but is not limited to:
    Cheating
Repeatedly kicking people without a valid reason.

I encourage you to contact a person on the moderation team when issue's like this occur and applaud your posting to warn other users of potential cheating habits that others may overlook. As far as the MTGO. I encourage the use of it as well. Cockatrice was never and will never be meant to get a "free" form of a game or break any type of copyright laws. Some may use it as such but that's like not supporting the company that develops the game, and with out any profit how long do you think the game will last?

Heck, I even play on MTGO rather often.

In-fact, if things work the way they should be working the address "play.woogerworks.com" should resolve to our backup server at the moment which will have a very low player count unless the main server "cockatrice.woogerworks.com" is down (which is not at the time of this post).
