Sep 12, 2017lajube posted a message on Changes to MTGSalvation User AccountsI have a twitch account. I don't like linking accounts because if twitch gets compromised (and every major account system eventually gets hacked), everything gets compromised. And then what? I might create an extra twitch account just for this, but I don't think that will really help.Posted in: Articles

You are right that they can't punch through a horde of blockers on their own, but first of all, that describes an archetype mirror where the opponent is also on tokens, and secondly, this is why I have 3 sweepers in the deck. So that game plan is to activate indestructibility, cast a sweeper and attack. Yes, white and black have answers. So far I'm seeing a few in use, but not many. But these are answers to every creature so this isn't a problem, unless Golden Demise becomes the card of choice for black decks.
Yahenni and Trafficker have many uses, which include attacking and forcing chump blocks, blocking and discouraging attacks, and enabling tricks like turning on a 4CMC fatal push at the opportune moment. I don't run more Yahenni because she's legendary, does not die very often, and it's not crucial to draw her. Likewise, Marionette Master is a great end-game card, but the deck often wins without it.
That said, Elenda is extremely powerful. She doesn't offer means of sacrifice so I would always keep Yahenni around, but I am definitely working to add more copies of Elenda. I get that it doesn't synergize with the artifact theme and I maybe should do something about that, but getting an instant pile of vampire tokens is great. Every stockpile servo sacrifice gives her counters, so it's like I get to generate more and more tokens for free.
It depends what's in hand actually. Often it's servos, but it could be Vampires (Yahenni and Elenda), or Aetherborn. Mimic has the added bonus of being an artifact to Trafficker and Master. I will consider Radiant Destiny, and definitely makes more sense if I move more to a vampire themed deck.
I'm still discovering new cards, so not yet. Golden Demise seems like a great sideboard for token matches; I'm guessing most other decks aren't especially weak to the card. Vona's Hunger could be interesting.
Very cool. Yeah, so my design is based around the notion of being a very hardy deck like all tokens decks are, but at the same time having the power to quickly end a game, thanks to my creature collection. (Unlike Anointed Procession decks which just stall and gain life until you have enough tokens.)
It's been successful so far in that I kill in about equal amounts each by Marionette Master, by attacking with big creatures and by attacking with tokens.
That said, it's a very mixedup deck and I'm open to pushing any of these angles if the cards are good enough.

How it works:
Generate a ton of tokens.
Run a pile of creatures who are really hard to kill but like tokens.
Run sweepers to take advantage of the above point.
Add some removal and you get to win quickly: Attacking with big creatures, or with a pile of tokens (pumped). OR with my version, cast Marionette Master, and sacrifice servos or treasures for an instant kill.
Unlike most token decks (anointed procession, anointer priest, legion's landing), this deck has the potential to be very aggressive as its creature package lets you attack through all kinds of defenses.
This is a Hidden Stockpile deck, which has been semi-successful but is not actively discussed. Abzan Tokens is in Established, but it's dead. I've also seen Esper and White-Black builds. Unlike all those though, it focuses on artifacts.
This is also a Marionette combo deck, for which I've seen a few threads out there, but nothing that's kept going. The most popular approach centers on treasures, and I have a few of those, but I focused more on servos with some sacrifice abilities.
It also has features in common with black aggro, running cards like Scrapheap, Yahenni, Fatal Push and Bontu's Last Reckoning. And because of the servo focus, Syndicate Trafficker.

So, the way this build works:
Generate a lot of tokens. Use these alongside indestructible creatures to dominate on the ground.
Enemy removal becomes wasted on tokens we would sac anyway or creatures who fail to die when targeted.
Use removal to clear their creatures out of the way and keep attacking, force chump blocks.
Use Stockpile and Treasure Map to dig into the cards we want.
Kill with Fumigate into Attack, Marionette Master into token sacs, or tokens into Shefet Dunes.
I've found this works pretty well against energy decks, and in general plays a strong game against most archetypes out there.
This deck for example, has a Marionette Master combo, could be rebuilt to put vanguards main, and squeeze in some Mortals instead. Possibly even a sideboard switchup. It'd be great againsta Ramunap Red deck.

You make GPG. They cast Cast Out because Hope's effect ended.
And you can't effectively sac Hope before combat because you haven't dealt damage to enable the effect. So how and when is this card useful?

I think I prefer the above build to the original because it is a little better on defense, not playing quite as much ramp, and Oviya is a great card to have when you have 5 mana free.
First FNM out, I scored 2-1, losing to Temur off bad draws, and beating Sultai energy and a brew. In an off-hand match against Pummeler, I observed the main deck is flat dead against the Pummeler, but good answers can be had with Settle the Wreckage and Negate. Or Commencement of Festivities
- Sram's Expertise
- Servo Exhibition
- Growing Rites of Itlimoc
- Inspiring Statuary
These cards form the core of a ramp deck that is great at selectively blocking aggressive decks and building into a devastating high-end. The redundancy of having both Rites and Statuary makes it extremely likely you get to your high-end cards in reasonable time.High-end cards could include:
- Tishana, Voice of Thunder
- Overwhelming Splendor
- Sandwurm Convergence
- Walking Ballista
- Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter
I'm open to black or red cards besides.Tishana is especially fun, because if you can cast her with 4 creatures out following the Rites flip, you draw 5 cards, keeping like 8 in hand and having an 8/8 creature. Walking Ballista can also get enormous, and little Oviya is the 1-drop that keeps making giant creatures every turn.
Here's my current build. It works well, but needs tuning.

This is only true based on certain assumptions of the deck structure. Procession does an amazing job generating ground blockers, which eliminates most needs for removal. Procession also doubles Treasure Cove treasures which in my experience was very good. You can build the deck to have other token sources besides which overall makes the card very good. And Procession also tends to be harder to remove. Ultimately, it's not a small decision and your choice should significantly impact your other card choices.
